how much do you budget to spend onboard? I know this depends on alot but my husband has been traveling alot for work and we have about $600 to put on our disney rewards card and also have $285 in onboard credits. Will we use all of that?

We are doing a 7 night Western. Thanks.

We may be a little higher, but we don't need airfaire so any money that would go towards that we can use onboard. Plus this will be our honeymoon. :) We're budgeting $3000 for two of us on a 7 night Eastern in December.

Edit: to give a little more detail, we enjoy wines/drinks and plan on ordering 2-3 bottles of nicer wines at dinners. We're most likely doing some pricier excursions through Disney (parasailing, jetskis on CC, etc), a little spa time, buying souveniers, etc, and that includes tips as well.

Since every family is different, and the prices for most things you'll spend money on are online, it's relatively simple to get a decent estimation of what you'll spend. Then add some just so you're not strapped on the last day and you want to buy that one last minor thing but it's out of budget - things come up.

Are you doing any excursions? If you are that will come out of your account. The service desk CM suggested that we not put everything down on the first day of our 4day (about 450.00) and go back later in the trip to see what we had spent. Of course we spend every bit of that and more!

Well, you can charge the tips to your room--so that will eat a large chuank of the OBC (there only the two of you?). Beyond that what people spend varies widely. We rarely drink and tend to buy only a photo or two and hardly ever take excursion (we will be spending $60 for float/bike and snorkle rentals on our upcomming trips though) and generally spend about $100 for things that are not tips but I KNOW we are very mcuh on the low end of the spectrum there.

Here are some things that could eat up your funds...
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Photos (they take some great shots but they are pricey)
  • Bingo
  • Spa Treatments
  • Palo Dining
  • Shopping on board or on Castaway Cay
  • Shore Excursions
  • Wine/Beer/Margarita/Martini Tastings

As another poster mentioned, you can also put your gratuities (roughly $12 per day per person for both adults and kids) on your stateroom account. We tend to spend about $1000 per 7-day sailing. I always buy a picture package ($200 or so) and play Bingo once or twice. We don't shop in the stores a lot, don't get many alcholic drinks and don't book our excursions through DCL. Occasionally I book a spa treatment but that doesn't happen every time. I don't think you'll have any trouble using up the money/OBCs you have.
