Budget buster...DH needs a new suit.

OP here, thanks for all of the great suggestions! We have a TJ Maxx here in our little town so I will try them first today, then if that doesn't work out we have Jos A Banks at the mall. Those were the ones I know are around here for sure so will start with that.

DH was a redhead as a child and has a light complexion and although now darker and graying, he really looks good in the lighter brown suit...but the funeral suit just looks awful on him. He bought it when I wasn't with him or never would have put my ok on it. We are in FL and the idea of wearing a suit anywhere is awful, but he insists on it for the interviews, even if he is overdressed, to him it makes him feel confident - which is definitely what we need!

Oh, and will definitely hit the Goodwill also - thats where all of his ties come from! :thumbsup2

I'm just so tired of stressful summers, and wish teachers weren't considered so darn disposable. :headache: Thanks everyone!!

I actually missed this part - not sure why either?

As I said, my hubby has many suits, as he wears them everyday. He has multiple colours, and there is no funeral suit, as they are all excellent quality, so he has several black or navy blue, that he has worn to funerals.

Not sure what the deal is, but perhaps the suit is too dark or formal looking, so the OP wants a different type of suit? If it's just because it's black, then I'm not sure what the deal is, as in my husband's corporate world, black is the suit of choice.

Tiger

He bought it at Target...........its just not very nice looking IMO.

My brother buys his suits in mens warehouse and in macys-he is a suit nut, has a closet full! He has two tuxedos too but not sure where he bought those.

My DH would LOVE to have a tuxedo. He loves to dress up. LOL At his last teaching job he had to wear a tie two days a week, I cringed...he thought it was great!

Men's Wearhouse has the best service around, and they are having a sale. The suits you buy at Kohls, or Macys might say Ralph Lauren, but are not the same suits you see at Suits stores. They are a different construction, and mostly use polyester wool blends, that's why the prices are so insanely low there.

Ok, maybe this is me being ignorant of the world, but why won't you let him wear his "funeral" suit? I assume this is his black suit? I'm not trying to criticize. I'm just trying to understand. My hubby never wears a suit except for weddings or funerals. He actually doesn't own a suit anymore as he "outgrew" his some years back; he has one jacket (my mom calls it a sport coat) -black with a very fine gray stripe- and a pair of black pants. He wears this combo for any occasion where a shirt and tie just aren't dressy enough.

Ok another idea...
Ok don't tell my DH, but the grey suit coat he wore to the interview last week was actually my first husbands (who died). He thinks it was my dads. It was his assumption and I let it stand. We bought it at Sears in Key West way back in the 80's and it still looks great. Just wish we still had pants to match it. Its got a pinstripe in it, and although he has gray pants, they don't have the stripe. So what do you think, not quite matching, or new suit?

I just checked and there is one in the mall so I will check it out, thanks!

Will have to make sure I learn how to keep the moths away too! LOL

NEVER wear a mismatch as a suit. If the coat was a solid then you can use it as a Blazer, but pinstripes as separates is only for casual wear like a coat and jeans. Interview suit is always Navy, Black , Charcoal, subtle stripes are okay.

Ok thanks, that was my thought. The stripes are fairly subtle but still....I think if he is going to wear a suit to try and impress it should be an impressive suit.

He is a middle school math teacher...he gets along with kids so much better than adults. If the kids could do the interview he wouldn't have any trouble getting a job. :rotfl:

You might want to check out the Salvation Army or Goodwill. You never know what you might find
check a few of these places, there are usually good choices, you just have to find a suit that fits! K and G has good sales too....
