yep all is quiet here i guess we are a bunch of quiet people with not much too say.

Suggestion as summer and high ticket prices approach - check to make sure your plane is still flying!!

We were scheduled on AirPlus Comet from JFK to BCN on Monday, August 13. I got on their site last week and discovered - they no longer fly on Mondays in the summer. Right - our flight is a no go.

I had received no email, no notice, and when I called cheaptickets, the agent had not received any message of cancelled flights.

My story has a very happy ending. Using info from Nancy (AKA Perdita) I was able to book LOT in business class for not much more than my old coach seats. Plus - get a refund from the other tickets.

Had I waited until the airline notified me, I may be paying high prices. Thanks Nancy for the info. And to everyone else - get online and check your flight.

What happened with airplus comet is awful. I'm glad it all worked out. You are very lucky.

Less than 1 million seconds to go (I did the math).

Sounds like a lot but it goes by at 86400 seconds a day!

your math is way off yes there are 86,400 seconds in a day. but a million seconds is 11.57 days. lets say we have 110 days left i know its a little more than that but if we have 110 days left thats 9,504,000 seconds. maybe you meant we have less then 10 million seconds left.

whether it's 1 million or 10 million seconds, I think time will start to go fast soon. the people of the eastbound transatlantic leave in a couple of weeks so we'll be reading a lot of what they have to say and before you know it, we will be planning and packing.

As many of you know - from my posting elsewhere - my oldest brother - Neal passed away - we found out Monday.

We are flying out tomorrow night to Seattle WA ... to settle his affairs (My sister Benita is flying with me & our brother David is flying up from SF to meet us).

I will be back in NY on Tuesday .

Suzanne - I'm glad your problems with Air Comet worked out.

We had a similar problem with Zoom Air from Toronto to Paris; booked to fly on Friday, August 10 but the flight was cancelled. We were re-booked (without telling us about our original flight cancellation) on a flight leaving two nights earlier when we couldn't possibly leave.

We also got a refund, and re-booked on another Canadian airline (Air Transat) leaving on Thursday, August 9. It was more expensive, but we were able to book an extra night in Paris and continue our weekend plans with friends there.
