Today is the 95th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. So now we can remember that we need to steer away from reefs and icebergs:thumbsup2

Hope this eases everyones mind as we will not be near either.:woohoo:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Somehow an iceberg where we will be sailing isn't going to happen.

Well - bailing out of the Nor'easter - 8" of rain here. The river on the side of the house has flooded the parkway - and is way over the banks. Our sewer cap was acting like a geyser for about 2 hours ... thankfully contained in the bathroom.

My nephew was called into work - I think all major roadways in our area are closed (in different places). I won't have a problem - heading into the office - all uphill and a mile away. With any luck we can earn an extra vacation day if enough other people can't make it in.

Hope everyone else is doing okay :goodvibes

We fared well here. The wind is really blowing today, so I guess we are not out of the woods yet.:confused3

Wow I had to check to make sure that it was not me posting instead of someone else.:rotfl2: My Dh also loves early dining in the resturaunt. In fact when we did Palo we go the latest reservation they had so DH could still eat dinner in the resuraunt.:confused3 Go figure and I am the one who is "fluffy":lmao:

I think I am goign to try and figure out our arrival day. I thought after we checked into the ship that DH and DGD would probable want to nap, which really cuts into the Chocolate factory tour. We may just go out after dinner and see the fountains and walk around a little. I have a little more research to do on what will be open and where it is safe.

My DH likes doing a Palo brunch so he can still eat dinner in the restaurant.

I still have to go over excursion possibilities with DD. Will let you know what we decide. I might also do some research into booking these things with a private operator. We've also starting looking into things to do on castaway cay. (Hoping a hurricane won't interfere with our day there.) DD has been wanting to go parasailing so I think we might do that. In any case, it will be good to get off the boat after 6 sea days.

Considering that people can start booking excursions beginning of May, I'm surprised it's so quiet here.

You wouldn't be looking to adopt another child would you?
If so, I'm available and I can even clean up after myself!

ok--trying to pu the above out of my mind. . .

did you know that we GAIN 1 hour each night we are at sea (transatlantic!)--that means we actually get 5-6 EXTRA hours!!!! maybe i will find time to work out!

found this about weather transatlantic (not sure if this was a "southern" crossing or not and it was from OCTOBER)

The weather was really great for a transatlantic crossing. We had some clouds and sun, moderate temperatures, no rain, but we did have two days of fog. It seemed we enjoyed walking the decks through the fog and hearing the subtle sound of the ship's fog horns. No seasick pills needed -- the ocean was quite calm.

extra 5-6 hours that means we can consume an extra 2500 calories.

Hi all!!!

I finally caught up on this thread (every post on every page, lol). :surfweb:

I can't wait to cruise! I am tired of planning - I just want to go already!!

I'm booked on the East bound and I wrote a GPS program that tells you when you officially reach the half way point. (+- 15 meters)

If there is someone on the Return that has a laptop and a GPS receiver that connects to a serial port (or simulator) that would like a copy for your cruise let me know.

Below is a screen capture that shows what the output looks like...

I'm back - Survived the Nor'Easter with little damage - basement was fine - our neighbors down the street weren't as lucky - 6' plus of river water in their basements - street flooded -- and we've had police car outside our house everynite.

36 hours without power - had to prove our house was okay twice to inspectors.... :goodvibes

Thank you so much for sharing. I am in the process of buying a new laptop and may now consider this option. I will get back to you if I do.

Thanks again

4 months to go. I guess it feels like we still have a long time to go cause it's been so quiet here lately....or is everyone busy planning??

Gosh, my time is even shorter than that since we're leaving a week earlier! Things get busy for my family towards the end of the school year, with finals, activities, dance recitals, SPRING, etc. Just kindof waiting for the excursion booking window to open up, and then time will start flying! I bought a new set of suitcases from Costco the other day, Skyway zero-construction luggage that is lighter weight than the boat anchors I currently own, and they're nice suitcases. I need to figure out if they will all fit in the trunk of a rental car, and then I'll check that off my to-do list.

I love the GPS idea, I don't currently own a unit, but have been considering it. It would be way cool to be able to plot our course across the Atlantic! Probably have to do that after I return, I'm sure the software to display that isn't on the unit, but I can save the data points and input them later at work...
