Bring back the good o' days, Things ..........

Kids today would not even know how to roll down a car window in an older car. A friends DD was in one of our cars several years ago and I still had a car with the handle to roll down the window and she could not figure it out. It was funny because if you have been raised with automatic windows that handle looks pretty odd. Now if my car remote is not working it seems like such a pain to open the door with a key...ack!

I have a '75 Airstream travel trailer and it still has an 8 track tape player in it! We don't have any 8 track tapes to play in it. My kids would think that those things are ancient...we're talking cave man ancient! I think my kids think that I lived in a cave and made fire with a rock.:lmao:

My nephew believes that there were dinosaurs still around when I was a child:scared1:

I just went to a music/multimedia/performance art program at my local library for kids. Wouldn't ya know it....

they were playing the original Muppet Show for the kids to watch before the show started!!

And all I thought about was this thread!

And now, of course, I can't get the theme song out of my head...

"It's time to put on makeup
it's time to light the lights..."

Which then reminded me of some more shows I loved. The Gong Show, and all of those silly game shows. I loved Match Game with Gene Rayburn, but all of the sexual innuendos went over my head (then, lol).

Ah, do you remember Let's Make a Deal?? I used to love that show, with all of their funny costumes and people carrying everything from gum to knitting needles in their purses to make a few bucks! :rotfl:

Another old soap opera my mother weaned me on was Love of Life. Yes, I remember The Secret Storm and Edge of Night as Well. Wasn't there Love is a Many Splendored Thing? I think that was the one with Donna Mills.

I remember when Lisa was the YOUNG vixen on As the World Turns!

I remember Love of Life and Love is a many Spendored Thing too! Oh my gosh! Too funny!

I loved the Gong show!

I liked to watch The Price is Right when I was home sick from school. I remember when The Wheel of Fortune had the people buy stuff with their money instead of winning cash. People would have like $30 left and would have to buy something like a really ugly dog stature.

All this talk about Shaun Cassidy...what about the big brother---David Cassidy! He was yummy in The Partridge Family.

Talking about toys, how about the dolls Crissy and Velvet? I had Velvet --Crissy's cousin and her hair grew from shoulder length bob all the way down to her knees. She had a knob in her back that you used to shorten or lengthen her hair. She was soooo cool!

How about the tv show Love American Style. It was always about sex but I didn't get it at the time.

How about the Lawrence Welk show? My dad like to watch it on Saturday nights I believe.

I'm really showing my age aren't I. How about the games Red Light/Green Light and Kick the can. We played Kick the Can all summer long.

Going shopping at Sear's in the Chubby Girl's Clothes Section. :scared: Not so much of a good memory and I am sure most of you didn't have to contend with it. At least now, the names are a little better. Plus size. :lmao: And yes I still have to shop the extended sizes.:sad2:

And remember calling the stores and asking if they had Prince Albert in a Can.

Yes.

Well you better let him out before he suffocates.:dance3:

The good ol days.

I know this is gonna sound wierd but...

We used to watch Tom Jones on tv, he had a show way back when.. did a lot of his hip rolling  And the Carol Burnett Show too....

But I do remember Love American style... it was on late, but stayed up with my older aunts to watch it... like you said, it was funny, and about sex but I didn't get it then either.

Oh.. and oh yes, I had the Shawn Cassidy posters... actually had a mirror with his face etched in on it ! :rotfl:

Toys, I actually had the Cher doll... pretty scary looking ! I also had the Chrissy doll, I had these 2 boy & girl twin dolls.. they wore purple & white jumpsuits.. but I can't remember their names :confused3

Thank you!! I was trying to tell my DH about wheel when you bought items. That was my absolute favorite game show because of that...(I believe that was before Pat Sajack).
My DH though I was making that up. And I believe the only item under 50.00 was that ugly dog statue.:lmao:

ROFL!!! :lmao: :lmao:

A memory just came a'surfacing for me....

I remember doing pool shows with my friends in the backyard pool (we'd pretend we were synchronized swimmers...:rolleyes1 ) to the song Afternoon Delight. Little did we know what the song actually was about!:rotfl2:

Remember the girl in that centerfold video looked just like Marth Quinn, who was in that first group of VJs on MTV when it came out? That girl in the video dancing around in her nightie was the spitting image of Marth Quinn!!! I remember when MTV first came out. It had like 15 videos that it played over and over and over... The very first video was "Video Killed The Radio Star."

My great grandmother telling me to go to field, climb the apple tree...pick the apples for the best apple pie you ever ate.

running in the same field at night and catching lighting bugs.

Watching my great grandmother catch a chicken for dinner. She was in her 80's and fast as lighting. I remember when 'Rocky' came out, he had to catch the chicken, she did this for Sunday dinner.

We played Badmitton in the road for hours on end.

Played the license tag game while traveling. We were a Military family, so we moved a lot.

Helping plant the garden, this had to be done every year. The grandparents survived on it, then they canned and froze the food.

Sitting on the front porch, just dreaming of what my life would be like, staring at the mountains...

Breaking green beans, talking with the family. We all worked to put the food up.

Bike ridding, no hands and turning corners, no helmet. I was pretty good. Always outside. Tanned with skinned knees and toes.

Listening to my Great grandfather debate world affairs, even in the 60's.

I miss the old times... I wish I had had the forethought to do more with them. Give more hugs, things of that nature.

New Zoo Revue

I watched this one, but it always sort of creeped me out. I mean really, what were those weird people doing talking to the giant freakish costumed animal things?? LOL

There was nothing I wanted more growing up than that stupid dalmation statue. If I had ever gone on the show, it would have been the first thing I bought. It was like a badge of honor: "I went on Wheel of Fortune" and all I got was this dog statue.

I remember riding on the back window area of the car when we had family visit and we all couldn't fit in the seats! I can't imagine seeing a kid squeezed in there now driving down the road. :rotfl2:
