Brenda & Marty June 2010

Now that I have figured out how to post pictures I guess I will add more. Excuse the weird facial expression. Some of you have seen the original with my weird expression so I decided to alter it a bit.

Hi! I just found your PJ and will be following along! Congrats on everything you've done already! The plans are sounding great! :thumbsup2

Also, I just have to tell you that I have been looking EVERYWHERE for your dress! LOL I found the photo of it on the Maggie site months ago and have gone to several shops, but no one seems to carry it in my area! :headache:

Now that I have seen it on you, I want it even more!! I think it's so pretty! I'm going to keep calling every store in NJ until someone has one for me to try on! :rotfl:

thanks for sharing your PJ!
Best wishes on your planning!
Leah

emilymad-when are you leaving? Will you be posting updates from FL? I won't as we don't bring a computer (except for the one night we come home). Thanks for liking my flowers!

I saw these shoes in the Garnet Hill catalog and think I may order them. I do like the look and the crystal will go with the dress. I am ust not sure about the ankle strap. I would like to have some idea of a shoe so I can go for my final dress fitting.

We are leaving on Friday. I may try to post updates. I am bring my computer so I guess I will have to see if anyone sends me any pictures I can post!

I love the shoes. The crystals really match the dress. My shoes are more of ballet flats but they have big crystals like that on them.

DisneyLeah-I am not sure where in NJ you are but Harlesyville Bridal in Harlesyville, PA had the dress. I am not sure if they still do or if it is too far for you.

I saw that dress when you initially posted it and loved it then - and somehow I love it even more now...it's so beautiful...I love how it fits you- it totally emphasizes all of your "good parts" (as I posted on the orignal thread - these coworkers of yours must be insane!). It is absolutely stunning - like it was made for you...

I also love the shoes....every time I see a pair of these awesome flat sandals I get scared of my wedding hoes....they are super high heels (although they are very comfortable)! I have been known to work on my feet for a 12 hour day in heels, somehow Disney is different....I will likely end up taking them off and going barefoot by the end of it all - lol.

Love your plans so far! Are you doing your caricature artist through Disney or outside? If you could PM me the details I am also looking to do this instead of avors and am trying to get as much info as I can!

Awww - you are so sweet to tell me a local store that has the dress!! I'll have to check out how far that is! I have to go to PA for work occassionally, so maybe I can stop by there and check it out! Thank you so much! :flower3:

And now back to your regularly scheduled PJ! Sorry for the brief tangent!
:cutie:

Disney9.9.10-thanks you so much for all your positive comments

camnhan-if only I could have said I am treating the first 10 people who respond to by PJ to come along for my wedding. Yesterday he won $100 on a scratch ticket. Granted I didn't ask how many he bought :)

DisneyLeah-thank you for the compliments on my dress. If you do buy one there is a Facebook group just for those of us with this dress. The girls are based out of England and there are about 10 of us. No problem whatsoever on the tangent!

Emilymad-glad you may be able to post updates. Did our dress triplet ever post pictures from her wedding?

daisygirl1902-if I could wear heels I would be. I really wanted shoes that I could dye a bright color. Your caricature artist sounds like a great deal and I wish I had planned ahead more.

Do you ever want to pinch yourself as you think "I can't believe I am having (had) a Disney wedding"? Sometimes I just can't believe it.

Went for my first dress fitting today. I love it even more now. plus I have lost about 10 lbs since I tried it on. Plus I tried it on with my earrings and really loved them together. When I had tried on just the earrings at home I felt they might be too much.

When I returned home my shoes had arrived (along with my Longaberger basket order). They are more comfortable then I had imagined and I think they will work. I will break them in.

While I was out I stopped in another store that is owned by an actress that use to be on Days of Our Lives and her husband was in Star Trek. I had always been wanting to stop in and bought back up wedding shoes. The are flip flops with a big pink flower. I will try to post a picture. The pink flower on the shoe is the same color as will be be in my flowers. Plus they are made in the USA!!

I LOVE those shoes!!

I know how you feel with the "pinch yourself" feeling....I know that I've worked hard for it and deserve it, but I am still a bit in awe that I not only get to marry someone so wonderful, but I get to do it at DISNEY! It's just so darn cool!

I agree, its quite awesome to get those feelings of "I'm getting married at Disney" :)...

Im sure you get the happy excited feelings when you try on your wedding items together, I have some of my things hidden in my closet and when DF isnt around I take them out and imagine what the day will be about . Its even better that you have found comfortable shoes, for a woman, we want to be beautiful and comfortable, and some times its hard to find both of those qualities in a pair of shoes that we love. :thumbsup2

I love those shoes! They are so cute, and actually look comfy too!

And I definitely know what you mean about the "pinch yourself" feeling. It seems so surreal to get married in the most magical place on earth!

Great job on the music list too. How did you go about making it, any sort of method to it? I find that to be one of my hardest jobs, and not something I am particularly excited about.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the shoes. I showed them to Marty and he liked them too. He is a bit traditional and I was worried he might think it was a bit too much color. I haven't showed him the crystal ones because I don't want him to have any hint of my dress. I think I might wear the flower ones for the dessert party.

Disney 9.9.10-I spent a few hours searching the internet to come up with the list. I couldn't believe how time consuming. I know they would pick some good songs but there are several I really wanted. I am going to bring the list to school and have our music teacher look at it to make sure they will all sound good on the Key West style guitar (which I have no idea what that is). What are you having for instruments?

On Monday nights I am taking sign language class and one of the students has his BA in guitar (it might be piano). If I remember I will bring him the list tomorrow night to look over and see what he thinks. Plus our music teacher at school but she is really busy.

Official Songs
Flower Girl Entrance- Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo
Bride's Entrance-Edelweiss (from the Sound of Music)
Recessional-You've Got a Friend in Me (Toy Story)
Cake Cutting-Be Our Guest (Beauty and the Beast)

Next week I have a facial scheduled :) I have received some gift certificates for gifts in the past and haven't used them. I will do another one close to the wedding too. The next weekend I go back for a dress fitting.

Today I also emailed Randy about adding on an extra hour. I would like him to come to the Napa Room and I am hoping we can get some pictures on the observation deck with the castle in the background. I figure I am only getting married once and want pictures of everything-the buffet, caricature artist etc. Not sure what the guests will have for cameras and I figure one more hour can't cost that much.

I can't wait to get my BEO. Hoping with the extra money to add the MK photo shoot back in. I don't dare until I see the BEO because I assume things can sneak in and drive the price up.

My mom has gained a few pounds:banana:

I decided to put down a deposit with Keepsake Floral. I am a little nervous as to how it will come out but decided to go with it anyway. I am thinking our moms would really like to have their corsages preserved. It would make a nice Christmas gift.

I decided to order a tiara. I have the matching earrings and love them. I hope a tiara isn't too much but I am not wearing a necklace so maybe it will balance out. It was 30% off and today was the last day so I decided to go for it. Hoping it will make up for the hair cut I recently had.

We picked out wedding bands today. Marty's is just a plain band in white gold. He only wears yellow gold so it is a stretch for him. I said I didn't mind if I had yellow and he had white if that makes him happy. He wanted them to match. I have a wrap with two diamonds to fit around my solitaire.

I emailed Amy the other day seeing if the MK photo shoot was available and she said we had never cancelled. I guess it was meant to be. I did ask her to double check the calendar as I thought Rosie cancelled it while we were on the phone. I am still a little uncertain as I haven't seen our BEO yet. I think I mentioned that Marty and I met on match.com. One reason I emailed him was his photo of the castle so it seems fitting we have a photo shoot there.

I haven't heard from Rosie since our phone call a few weeks ago. I am anxious to learn the final price and my final price for everything so I can see if we need to cut anything.

We decided to cut the Mickey Rice krispie treats and have a flambe instead. We thought it would just be really neat to have flambe at the dessert party.

Guess that is is for now and thanks for reading.

I am glad to hear that your mom is doing better! A few pounds is a great achievement and it is wonderful that you are so happy!

The tiara is beautiful! I don't think that it would be too much at all. How about piccies of the wedding bands now? hehe

Waiting on the BEO is so awful lol. It feels like it goes on for centuries, but in reality it doesn't take that long - and they must be so busy. But it is really nice to finally have some numbers in front of you. I hope everything works out with that MK shoot for you!

DIsney 9-9-10-it is so nice of you to always read and post. I know I was rambling a bit about my mom but it is nice to have someone to "talk" to. She bought her wedding outfit but I haven't seen it yet. I don't care as long as she keeps gaining some weight. I use to be so worried about her but I am feeling so much better.

Just read you are doing a tiara too. I can't wait to get mine and try it own.

We had to special order my wrap so I don't have any pictures. The ring is my moms and we decided to get it reset. The prongs swirl so I couldn't put a wrap with it. I will be getting a Tiffany setting (That is what Marty thought it was called). The prongs are straight. They showed me another diamond of the same size and I couldn't believe what a difference the setting made. Everyone comments on how pretty the swirls are but I couldn't find a wedding band that went with it. I didn't actually see a wrap with the stones I am getting since they didn't have the size I need. The store suggested what size stones would go with my solitaire. I don't think my mom will mind that I got it reset but I probably won't mention it. It is such a difference that I am sure she will notice. The store suggested I put my birthstone or something in the setting and wear on my right hand so I might do that in the future.

I can't wait to know for sure for the MK shoot and I am getting worried about finding someone to do my hair. It is getting so close I hope they are not all booked. I had booked Pat L but cancelled as I wasn't 100% sure and didn't feel that was fair to her.

Thanks again for reading.

That's what these boards are for - to support each other! I am really glad that it means a lot to you!

It is too bad that there are no pictures to look at of your ring, but I am sure that it is beautiful! How about tiara pics when it comes in lol

I haven't decided what to do about MK hair either. My shoot is scheduled for the morning after my wedding so I was kind of hoping to keep my wedding day hair but I'm not sure how it will work out. :rolleyes1

Just trying to figuring out the whole readings/ceremony stuff and found this one I like and thought I would share. Can't believe I am sitting inside on such a beautiful day :) It does pop a hole in the whole fairy tale idea but I really like the reading.

"If the old fairy-tale ending "They lived happily ever after" is taken to mean "They felt for the next fifty years exactly as they felt the day before they were married," then it says what probably never was nor ever would be true, and would be highly undesirable if it were. Who could bear to live in that excitement for even five years? What would become of your work, your appetite, your sleep, your friendships? But, of course, ceasing to be "in love" need not mean ceasing to love. Love in this second sense-love as distinct from "being in love"—is not merely a feeling. It is a deep unity, maintained by the will and deliberately strengthened by habit; reinforced by (in Christian marriages) the grace which both partners ask, and receive, from God. They can have this love for each other even at those moments when they do not like each other; as you love yourself even when you do not like yourself. They can retain this love even when each would easily, if
they allowed themselves, be "in love" with someone else. "Being in love" first moved them to promise fidelity: this quieter love enables them to keep the promise. It is on this love that the engine of marriage is run: being in love was the explosion that started it."

-- C. S. Lewis

There was one line in the reading I picked that Marty didn't like so I am not sure. I have our ceremony pretty much written up and hope to finalize it this weekend.

We are going to be a Wishes wedding and we are easily meeting the minimum+. I can't get over how quickly it all adds up. We can still keep Amy as our planner. She has been so patient with me. Sometimes I email and talk (phone) to Bill too.

As some of you know I have been stressing about the cake cutting at SBP due to the heat but I am pretty sure I am going with it. I love the photos taken there with Mickey & Minnie etc. We can eat the cake at the Napa Room but I want the pictures at SBP.

I have been leaning towards a square cake with crystal ribbon and topper. I love the Mickey swirl cake too. For anyone who is interested here are some prices for a cake to feed around 22 people.

3 yards and the cost for 4 rows of crystal is $345.00 and the 5 row is $426.00. Single initial topper is 5" tall and is $140.00 partially covered and $155.00 full coverage.
The three initial is $240.00 partially coved in the crystal/rhinestones and $255.00 fully covered.
Plus there is a increased cost for a square cake instead of a round.

Now that I am looking at my BEO from Rosie and there is probably nothing different from everyone else so I may post at a different time. My fingers are tired and it is somewhat of a staggering amount. You figure with Mickey & Minnie at $1,200, dessert photography at $300 etc it adds up pretty quickly. I can't wait to see my budget from Amy. She is redoing it from Escape to Wishes.

Have you all heard of those sites where they copy and paste our comments and laugh at us? I keep thinking (and do not want to know) what they are cutting and pasting out of mine but it sucks because it makes me not want to post as much.

Off to read (one of the 39 Clues series).

I don't know how Disney decides but we are now back to an Escape wedding. I will assume their wouldn't have been a savings with going to Wishes even though we are well into the Wishes price.

Stressed as I went to pick up my dress today. She didn't take it in enough on one side and forgot to hem it and do whatever they do with bustling. The shop is about an hour from my house so it isn't like I can just go there whenever. It felt kind of lose on the top. I am hoping it will be ready and fine next weekend when I go back again. There are only 2 more weekends left until our wedding. I guess it is best she forgot about hemming it since she had marked it too short. I had been worried about that. I just hope she remembers which mark to follow when she cuts it.

Pretty sure I am upgrading to the crystal cake and taking out the flowers on the handrails to SBP.

I love Emily's pictures with the parasol (all of her pictures actually) and am thinking of ordering one today as a photo prop. I also saw some photos in Heidi (can't remember her whole screen name) report where the bridesmaids have hillbilly teeth on and thought that would make a great prop. I work with some people that have pretty bad teeth so I hope they wouldn't be offended. But they did make some unkind comments of me in my dress....

If I want to add soda and bottled water to lunch it will cost around $450. I never drink soda so I don't care. I am worried my guest will think I am cheap to not have any. I have almost thought of telling them the cost and I know they would understand then.

Adding the MK session to our photo shoot (along with AK). I lost my 6:00 slot awhile back and can now have the 5:00 slot. Patricia is not available to do my hair that day but Beauty Special is (I don't think I am spelling the name quite right).

I tried to make reservations at the ESPN club for a few night before our wedding but they don't take reservations. We will be meeting at least one set of guests who will be driving to the wedding. This way they will have an idea of the location, time they need to plan for etc. We have never eaten there so I hope we enjoy it.

I still need to finish up with the ceremony wording. It was suppose to be done at the month mark but I am hoping the Rev will still accept it.

Guess that is it for now.
