It is my impression that the different states that create the United States have more differences.
For example state laws in Washington State vary from those in Florida. Louisiana to Massachusetts.
The use of Death Penalty in some states vs others.

In Australia. There is less variance at least perceived by me.
"Popular" decisions are deployed across the country more 'easily' than it seems it would in the US.

Ah, I get it. I thought we were talking cultural differences and attitudes which is why your use of the word "legally" made me confused.

I'm backing out of here too. The Dis bans political discussions...

My excuse? I need to take a look at them candy or lollies again for this afternoon. :rolleyes1

I looked at the forecast for Monday. Looks to be a cold, wet and snowy Halloween night.

Except for the snow, that sounds like our forecast for today. Of course, we are talking Melbourne weather...so I'll check back later about the snow.

It's going to be between 40 and 30. If it would just stay at 30 it would be snowing but at least dry.

Mocking? Sarcastic? Us Aussies? No...can't say I've noticed.

Yes...for a geographically large continent, there are surprisingly less differences between Aussie states and territories than what you would find across the US.

Except for Tasmania, where everyone is practically a cousin to each other....and Queensland, where they just in-breed them a little strange there.

Take Queenie and myself...we're both proudly Aussie and very patriotic (But I would imagine no less so that the average American for your home country). And although we live in different states, aside from minor differences, our legal, health, school, political systems are all pretty much run along the same lines.

And Queenie - let's leave NZ alone. There's really no point given that there are no Kiwi's following this thread to start World War 3. You and I are almost in violent agreement here; 'cept that I think its another great country.

That was exactly my point :thumbsup2
You do have far better roads than us sadly. :snooty: It's like crossing to paradise hitting (some) of your freeways. Although the road from the Great ocean road that cuts back to the freeway...my back is still recovering from that :rotfl:

It's a bit like the French/English thing. But for the French...France would be lovely. :teeth:

Oz governs itself very well and very independently thanks very much :teeth: Trust me...we have plenty of political disasters of our own making thanks :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Those Ruddy (pun intended PIO) Kangaroos. You'd be amazed what mischief they get up to!!!

No worries. I'm kind of in a bit of a situation at home at the moment. Plus other worries.
Trying for a bit of distraction...
Sorry if you thought I was being critical of you guys...

I much sooner mock the Canadians eh? Have a lovely friend in Canada who is a regular riot with sarcasm etc. She'd fit right in here in Oz. But it's too far from Disney :lmao:

I am not taking anything personal, its interesting how you two intereact with each other.

No didn't think you were critical, but I was confused. As I said I thought we were talking cultural differences, so for me introducing the differences of our state laws was a sort of non sequitor and believe me there is enough of that going on in my house, with Fran on morphine. :lmao: I was just afraid it was sneaking over to the DIS! :rotfl2:

Roads vary a lot in the US. You aren't likely to see it but there are roads near me that get special markings because they aren't plowed. They are covered with packed snow, and make the show "Ice Road Truckers" not so thrilling.

Also I once made a trip from North to South. Roads in the North are not nice compared to the South. It has to do with having cold temperatures that cause frost heaves and cracking. Being from the North were roads are very weather effected it makes road in the south feel smooth like glass. Of course the states choose how much money they want to spend on road maintnance.

Isn't Canada the cold counterpart of Australia?

Not in Oz they don't. I'm up to about that magical 500 pieces you said I should get. :lmao:

They needed to be individually wrapped pieces of candy. And given how many I had to source, I kept it on the bulk/cheap side. M&M are not exactly cheap over here.
