Lil, I know you like to stay in the Cabana section. Do you just request Cabanas in general or is there a certain cabana/cabanas which you prefer.

We will be requesting Cabanas in April and hoping for the best. :)

I just ask for a room in any of the cabana buildings.

Ok Buzz, your site is the BEST!!! But after reading so many posts I am even more confused!
Here is what I need, I have 2 kids so I'd like to be close to market, or bus stop(or both) but I definitely want a renovated room with the queen beds.

HELP!!!!!!

Castias 1 is right next to the food market and Bus Stop 4 (the last bus stop before heading out to the parks); it is, however, a longer walk to the main pool. Directly from Buzz's website:
For conventioneers the Casitas 1 or 3 are often the best. These are close to the convention center; but quite a distance from pools and bus stops.

For adult couples, especially honeymooners or those celebrating anniversaries Casitas 4 or 5 with a water view is exceptional. Casita 4 has the quiet pool, fitness center, spa, salon, and both are close to bus stop #2.

For “leisure guests with children” here are some great locations; Cabana 8a, Rancho 7b, Cabana 8b, 9a, Rancho 6b, and 6a...in that order. Nearness to El Centro is usually of no importance to many guests. It's much more important to be close to the park bus stops and the “Dig Site”. Leisure guests may come to El Centro once or twice; but they will be at the buses twice a day (at least) and the pool often when they are at the resort.

For adults or large families who wish to be close to a park bus stop and to a “quieter pool” but are not interested in the theme pool, building 7a is great and has close proximity to parking.

Building 2 also is close to parking and usually one of the quietest buildings, especially from the 4th floor. The fourth floor of building actually includes part of the upper floors of building 3 and has easy access to the convention center by way of the elevator courtyard of building 1 (especially in a rainstorm).

In other words, there is no “best location for everyone”. Each building has its own plusses and minuses. The cast members will be happy to guide you into the building that fits your needs best……..if you let them know what those needs and expectations may be.

Also, for a reality check…….when there is a large convention……not everyone is going to get a room next to the convention center. In fact, most of the rooming blocks are set up by the group having the convention long before any of the convention guests arrive…… Sometimes, there is little cast member latitude on changing those assignments.

As always, if there are special needs that must be addressed, fax the resort a week before arrival. Be sure you are faxing to the resort and not to Walt Disney Travel Company, their booking agency. The resort cast is best able to accommodate special needs. Often guests call the reservation desk with these requests and do not understand that this is not the resort; but a central reservation desk for ALL of Walt Disney World. The fax number is available by calling Walt Disney World information and asking for the front desk operations fax number.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building (closest to the pool).

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above (9a has a quiet pool).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

do all the rooms have a patio/verandah that you can sit out & maybe enjoy your morning coffee? :flower:

The only resorts with patios/balconies are the deluxes. The moderates and values do not have them.

Hello everyone! I LOVE this thread. I just won a trip to CSR with that lastminutetravel promotion and I am SOOOO excited about trying this resort. I have stayed Deluxe mostly and one night at POP, so I am ready to try a Moderate. I have tried to read as much as possible, but I have 2 questions about the Pepper Market. 1)Can we refill our own mugs? 2)Are there those little packs of grapes that usually come with the kids meals or is the fruit that comes with the kids meal different? Like banana, apple, orange? Thanks and all the pictures are just gorgeous!

Congrats on winning a trip - that is just what I need to do :lmao: ! Anyhow, we were just there and my DD had a kids meal. I think grapes were a choice, anyhow that's what she said she had. It was all good! Still can't get over the fact that I had a $20 entree cooked fresh for me for only one counter service!

Hi everyone!

I have just a few questions before I book our trip tomorrow morning!!

I *think* I read somewhere way back in this thread that paying for a water view room is really not worth the extra money?
I would like to add a request to our ressie for a Cabana 8a or 8b room, and am wondering if I would have a better chance of getting that request met if I book water view or standard??

Thankyou! ;)

No, it really is not worth the extra money to pay for a water view. A waterview could be a quiet pool, the lake, a fountain, a puddle of water...you just never know. We've been fortunate and have always been upgraded to waterview when we are there which is very nice but not something we really need. I can't answer about the Cabanas because we always stay in the Casitas section.

Thankyou for such a quick response KatMark!

I kind of thought we would try the Cabanas section since we stayed in the Casitas 5 section on our last trip.
I'm not to concerned about proximity to the big pool, or to El Centro, but would like to be close to a bus stop.
Our room in Casitas 5 had a good little walk to the bus stop--which is a big deal at the end of the day.

I'm not sure where the bus stop is in relation to the Cabanas or anywhere--we rent a car. As we always stay in Casitas 4 or 5, I know where the bus stop is because we pass it on our way to park the car. From Buzz's info, I think Cabanas 8A or B is very close to the bus stop...and that is a beautiful area.

Thanks again KatMark! Makes my decision to add that request a bit more solid in my mind.

We will be driving down to Disney for the first time this year (trying to make the trip more affordable) so we will have our car on hand for the first time.
I'm thinking it will make it much easier to travel from CSR to other resorts for the dinners we will schedule.

Yes, it will. DH and I drove to WL and CBR this past September; POR, CBR and AKL the year before. It is so much easier with a car. It is also easier to drive to Downtown Disney. We actually drive to all the parks. We are there for rope drop so we don't park far away and can walk to the front entrance without having to use the tram. We even do MK and take the boat over (sometimes the monorail can be as slow and/or crowded as the buses).

Thanks Singinglizzie! Anyone know if I can refill my own mug at the Pepper Market?
Yes you can. You can refill at the Pepper Market, the little window outside the PM, Cafe Rix, Laguna lounge and Siestas (poolside).

My travel agent put in a request that we be put in 9A. Is that close to the front? I asked her to put in a request for me and plan on faxing a request as well in the next week or two

Very good choice. It is close to the main building, the main pool, bus stops 4 and 1 and there is a quiet pool at 9a.

Just got back. Short, 4-day solo trip.

Check in. No line at 10:00am. Room was not ready. After some polite conversation/requesting, castmember asked manager and she gave me a room that was ready now.

Asked for and got Cabanas 9A, refurbished room. Awesome! Feels like you’re in a Deluxe. 9B looked unoccupied. 8A seemed to be getting redone.

Pepper Market. Some minor menu changes. Prices slightly higher. Some minor floorplan changes: drink station is now roped-off. I guess guests cannot get there own drinks anymore…? Castmember at the grill station thinks that Pepper Market might become sit-down…? He says that they are slowly remodelling each food station/area. Had breakfast one morning – good. Had ribeye steaks every night – very good.

Café Rix. Nice. Enjoyable. Good selection of pastries, sandwiches, pizza, etc. Nice addition to the CSR food options. If not mistaken, stays open later than PM. Grilled chicken pannini was very good.

Busses. Great. No problem. Seemed bus pulled up within 5 minutes everytime. Missed the Epcot bus once (I got to the station as the bus was leaving), next one came by 10 minutes later. Park-to-Resort: only had to stand one time.

Parks. Pleasantly empty. Weather cool and pleasant. January is a great time to visit. Did notice a lot of attractions were being refurbished during this time of year. American Idol at DHS was a pleasant surprise. Saw two shows.

Had a great time. Thanks for all the help/info from everyone on these boards.

Happy to answer any questions...

Just wondering if anyone had an update on the room renovations that have been done at the Casitas area: especially for building 4 or 5.

THANKS, in advance!

:lmao:

We went to eat lunch there this past week on our "off" day from the parks. DH wanted to check it out as it was the only moderate resort we have not stayed at. We really enjoyed our lunch at Pepper Market, once we figured out the system of getting your card stamped. DH and I both had fajitas for lunch and DD had chicken strips. It was all great and only counted as a CS. THey do bring the drinks to you. But there was a little window by the entrance that people were able to get drink refills at. I noticed their mugs looked bigger and wider.
We enjoyed it so much, we canceled our dinner reservations that night at Grand Floridian Cafe and made a reservation at Maya's. It was ok when we went. DH got the $40 entree with 3 things. He doesn't like fish so they put a chicken breast on in it's place. I thought the food was just ok. I had the filet and while it was cooked well, I felt it needed some seasoning. When the waiter brings steak sauce before the meal, you know it must need flavor! I'm used to steaks that don't need any sauce. But it was tender and no fat at all on it. DD loved her appetizer of nachos.
After dinner we asked at GS if we could see a room as we would like to stay there next time. It took a little while to get it situated, but they let one of the CM and a CM that was "earning her ears" take us to view a room. We went in the first building on the right from the entrance. I"m thinking 9B. She took us around to the back to one of the newly renovated rooms. Oh gosh, it was beautiful! DH noticed the queen sized beds, which we were impressed with. All the furniture was a dark wood and so beautiful. There were two little leather ottomans by the door and desk. The linens were all white I believe. There was a flat screen on a nice dresser. The best was the wooden doors to close off the bathroom. INstead of a curtain, they had nice, heavy, wooden doors. They were so pretty and nice. The bathroom didn't look updated much, so I don't think they did anything to the bathrooms. THey said if we book a room to make sure to request a newly remodeled room. We were impressed and will be looking at staying there next time. It was lovely. Loved walking by the beach area with the cool, evening breeze on us.

Question about the newly renovated rooms...did they replace the refrigerators? Only because last Aug. when we stayed at CSR our refirgerator did not keep the items cold enough. I called housekeeping to complain & they told me that they weren't actually refrigerators. They are coolers. (If that's the case then Disney shouldn't advertise that the moderates have "refrigerators" in all the rooms.) Anyway, they sent a CM to our room & she told us she would bring over one of the "original" refrigerators. She explained that the original refrigerators kept items much colder than the current ones. She was right...the "original" one she brought to our room worked great. That's why I was wondering if they replaced the refrigerators to ones that keep the food really cold as opposed to these "coolers/refrigerators". Thanks!
