What about when they cast the parents of the girl at the front desk - should they disregard color there also?
One of the best, if not the best, television shows of all time called The Wire was never nominated for a major award. The majority of the cast was black. And, the showrunners were told that they needed to add more white people to the show because they didn't want to lose viewers. This show is on the top list of every "Best TV Shows Ever" list. Incredible show, ahead of its time, full of racially diverse characters. Snubbed from all major awards. This is a real issue.

"Holy long thread leading to nowhere, Batman"!
"I know, Robin. I think we need a few more *pow*-*slap*-*smack*, and *Gadzooks*"

It depends. Does the reception's character require her to not be adopted?
The question is, what can we do to encourage studios to make the bet? Until they're ready to make the bet, things won't really change.
It's pretty simple. You vote with your dollars. If you want to see movie studios produce more movies that feature more non-Caucasian actors & actresses, then you need to go to a movie theater and pay to see those movies that are currently being released which do have more non-Caucasian actors & actresses.
The major movie studios are for-profit enterprises.
Well, then, obviously there is going to be a race requirement. Unless the receptionist can pull off "mixed race", one of the parents would have to be the same race.Yes.
I can see a problem where the background genetic/adoption family makeup issues might be more interesting than some of the movies that get made.Well, then, obviously there is going to be a race requirement. Unless the receptionist can pull off "mixed race", one of the parents would have to be the same race.
I mean, that's no different than a character needing to be a "Russian Spy". You aren't going to cast someone who is Japanese, right? There's got to be at least some common sense.
#3 is effective immediately. The Academy today announced sweeping changes in its membership.
1. All members will have 10 year memberships.
2. It plans on doubling its voting members by the year 2020, especially women/minorities.
3. Poison will be placed in the kool-aid of all the old while men voters.
Well then, they'll need to alot more time to the in memoriam segment.#3 is effective immediately.

I couldn't care less about actors, the oscars, and the smiths. Their main complaint is "the children" will turn on the oscars and see their race not being represented. Seriously?!???!?? Who are these children that are tuning into the oscars? Kids don't care about the oscars. Affirmative Action for the oscars? Gimmie a break.
So was the miss America pageant. LolIt was as popular as the Smurfs when I was a kid.
