Just make sure it's on the non-smoking side. :goodvibes

If we get enough non-smokers together, we can always "help" the smokers over the edge of the railing! :confused3 Nobody would ever know they were missing until it's too late!

I'm going to jump to the defence of all the smokers on board. Those of you who like a smoke can join me out on deck anytime (especially after dinner). 5 years after I packed in smoking and there is noithing better than somebodys second hand smoke to keep me from starting again.

I don't do it myself but I still like the smell.

A bit like one of your ex presidents who didn't inhale...yeah right:hippie:

--Clinton was not MY president ... and I think you're talking about a different cigarette. No need to defend cigarette smokers, as there is no excuse in spewing that crap in the air, in my lungs, and on my clothes. It's a disgusting, self-serving habit, at the expense of others. If you have ever seen someone die a slow, painful death because of cigarettes, you'd do whatver you could to make sure nobody ever lights up - ever! Nothing personal.

The UPS Guy just drove by without stopping:mad: Nothing from USPS....so no doc's today. I did hear that there was a USPS semi truck in an accident in town today.:scared1::eek: I hope they were not on it.

Didn't mean to start that...have you ever posted/said something and then tried to take it back?

Yes, which is why I will no longer discuss:
Smoking
Drinking
Gay Days
Dress Code on DCL
Disney Embroidery
eBay
Politics
Travel Agents

And I add the caveat that the list of things I no longer discuss can increase to include any subject at any time.

I liked the idea of something that could be stuck on the door, a la county fair, but my official vote is if you are willing to make them, then you get to decided!

With you on awards and me on ballots, I think we just created a 2 woman committee.

So if I got it right we have two categories: People and Doors
People -
  • youngest traveler
  • newest married
  • married the longest
  • traveled the greatest distance to get to the ship
Doors-
  • Best Overall
  • Most Creative
  • Best Theme
  • Craziest/ Stranges

Any additions?

What about "most"? I have enough magnets for 3 doors!!:rotfl:

I really take offense to these comments.

That's unfortunate! If you don't care enough about offending those around you, why would you think anyone would care about you being offended when THEY are offended? :sad2: Goose vs. Gander?

I am assuming you never knew anyone who ever died or drown of lung cancer. It is LUNG CANCER that should offend you. Please educate yourself about the hazards of the carcinogens being injested, before casting judgment on someone who is informed of the health hazards. Again, nothing personal.

Hey there Martin,

Were just north of you guys (Stouffville)......but we haven't got any paper work yet.

Hi katypop:

We received our documents late last week through our TA here in Markham. Our family is starting to feel the "Magic" now.

I love how you incorporated Shakespeare into that countdown!

(and I just HAD to complete the quote for my co-worker! :lmao:)

I am offended that you would make such a blanket statement about all smokers. I do know about the hazards - I work in the medical field. Have you never known or loved someone who started smoking before they were old enough to know better and now can't stop? Have you never known anyone with an addiction? I am offended that you are so rude about it. You may not mean to be personal but it is a very personal subject. :sad1:

Steven, I have to say I agree with you on this one. 2nd hand smoke does kill and it is very dangerous. I personally do not like it all but it is my 2 dd's that I worry about more. They both have very bad asthma. They each take medication twice daily inorder to control it. DD Brooklyn actually has no problem telling someone who is smoking around her the effect it has on her.

I know it is an addiction and something that people really enjoy doing. I do however agree with the fact that those who don't want smoke around them should have the right to not have it around them.

I grew up in a house with smokers and I hated every second of it. We are lucky in CA bc there are so many laws about not smoking indoors in basically any public place and within so many feet of a buildings entrance. DL here in CA also does a very good job of having specific areas where smoking was allowed and it is very enforced. It probably has to do with the fact that it is out of the ordinary to be around smoke here in CA.

My mom smoked for 30 years. When I gave birth to Brooklyn (before we knew she had asthma) it began evident how dangerous smoking can be. I went for her well baby check up and the doctor asked are there any smokers in the house. I said no but my mom does smoke outside. He checked the box "yes". He said even the smoke that is left in clothes is as dangerous as blowing smoke in a baby's face. We told her that she had to quit or she could not stay with us or hold Brooklyn. After 30 years of smoking a pack a day she quit.

I don't know if this has been posted already (I don't get to check the computer that often), but is anyone else on the US airways flight out of Philly at 7:55am on the morning of the cruise?

Also, I read somewhere about fitness classes offered on the ship. Does anyone know about them, different levels, variety of classes, etc? I really want to be able to enjoy the food on the ship without worrying about my clothes not fitting by the end of the cruise!!:)

Can't believe we sail in a month...looking forward to meeting you all!!!

Please, PLEASE. We have been conversing for so long, and have become so fond of each other. Please let's agree to not discuss this toxic subject Everybody is right. Everybody has strong feelings. I'm not sure I've ever known anyone that has enjoyed smoking (as someone said). It's a destructive expensive habit that slowly kills you. Let's not let it kill this thread as well.

My two cents worth. But I will stop reading now and abandon the thread if the subject isn't retired. Thanks,
Ann

I have a friend that's trying to quit right now. She's gone 10 days cold turkey. I've never done it myself and I plan on getting pregnant this year and told my friend that I wouldn't be able to hang out with her anymore if she still smoked once that happened because I wouldn't do that to my child. I also told her she should want better for her children than for them to grow up thinking smoking was ok.

On a side note she's taking her first trip to DL ever in a couple weeks and I told her there's no smoking there :lmao: Obviously she knew I wasn't serious but she said she doesn't want to be having her kids hang in the smoking sections with her.

I figure to each her own and my smoking friends know that and respect that I won't go in their cars or hang at their houses.
