BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

Sooo... we are booked for two nights courtyard view at WL in early December 2015 (part of a longer trip that is WL; Hyatt at MCO; B2B Disney Dream; AoA LM).

The room is rack rate because (1) we really like WL; (2) it was booked many months ago; and (3) there are no discounts for those dates yet.

Anyone have any idea when the "late fall" room only discounts are likely to come out ? We are hoping to be able take advantage of that discount for our room. based on previous years it is usually 30-35%, which is >$100/night. I would prefer to have any "normal" general public discounts in place before I contact Disney about any other discounts due to construction.

Well this kind of stinks. We own DVC and I have always wanted to stay at WL for the holidays. I was so excited a few months ago when our waitlist came through - now it looks like we could be in the middle of a construction zone especially since we are staying at the villas. My daughter was very excited about the VWL pool and now we know that is out, plus the beach, marina, etc. All things we had intended to utilize. I know as a DVC owner I will have no recourse and there are no discounts to compensate. Just wish I knew about it before I made the waitlist and of course now there is no availability anywhere for our dates (11/22 - 11/28) so we can't even switch. We will make the best of it but I am disappointed that my long awaited wish for a holiday WL trip is going to be tainted in a not so good way.
 
Is there anyone booked CY (at WL not villas) view in Sept that has gotten an email? We haven't gotten anything...we are booked court yard view Sept 15-25.
I don't think that we will be impacted based on everything I've been reading and we don't have nappers, so no worries about daytime noise.
I just don't want the beauty of the lodge to be taken away, the beach, the trails, the whole nature part of it. Will they still be doing the campfire when we are there? so many questions...

My understanding is that the campfire will be happening during your stay. That's part of the closures for late October. I'd cross it off my list of things to stress about.

Have you looked at POST 1? Most of your questions should be answered there:)
 
Thank you to everyone for the heads-up about the room price adjustment. I was able to speak with a wonderful GS rep and she took care of everything for me.

I'm wondering, though, if they will allow a room % discount on top of the room adjustment? If they are letting people keep free dining, they might allow stacking? Maybe even a reduced discount? Hoping...

Well, we can commiserate together since I'll be at VWL at the same time as you. I'm not an owner, but I did rent points. I had been contemplating contacting my owner to check other resorts for me, but since you said that there is no availability anywhere else, I'm not gonna sweat it. I would love to get a $100/night discount and stick it out there, but given the point rental situation, I'm SOL. We'll make the best of it, though.

I doubt it, because the FD promotion was released prior to the information about the construction.
 
Wow! Thanks so much @WDWKOOK for getting all this information together! We'll be staying at WL the first week of December. No plans to change but I may take the discount if I can :rolleyes1
 
My family had a studio villa booked for 7 nights starting October 24th. I rented points. Was not expecting anything because I thought I was locked in. I received a call from disney guest services yesterday....to my surprise they wanted to do everything to make sure we r happy w our vacation. They switched us to bay lake tower lake view rm. no upgrade fee. My main concern was that I have 3 kids under 6 and we spend a lot of time at Mk. Sad we r not staying at WL anymore but we will hopefully in the future, once construction is over. Disney was awesome in accommodating us:)

This seems odd to me. I didn't think that the regular guest services would get involved in a DVC reservation. I'm really surprised that they would deal with you, and not the owner of the points.

I also thought it was odd. First someone called yesterday and offered me key west, which I didn't want. Then I mentioned I rented points. The guy put me on hold mentioned it was some sort of guest service team working on it. He then came back and offered me beach club. I was considering it so he told me to talk to my husband he wanted the whole family to be happy w the vacation. He gave me a phone # to call back, but when I called back I had to leave a message cuz it said they closed at 7. This morning a dif girl called me back and I said I really didn't want bc cuz we spend 3 days at Mk. She put me on hold and came back said I lucked out something just opened up for Bly lake view. First thing I said is it going to cost me more? She said no. It's already changed on my disney experience page. I was very shocked! But happy.

We are going for 7 nights in December. I just got off the phone, after the agent confirmed my reservation, I asked about the $100/night discount I heard about. He asked me to hold so he could review what options he had for my situation. After holding for 15 seconds, he came back with relocation or the discount. I took the discount.

Hi all, just wondering whether any Uk customers have been offered an alternative resort today? We have just received the email this morning and are due to stay in October :-( apparently there are no other resorts available except the AK and we don't really want to stay there. Also have any uk customers been offered the $100 discount?
