Like I said, if you are interested in the discount, time isn't nearly so critical for you. Waiting until Monday isn't a big deal, though I know it's frustrating and I would not be wanting to do it either. I would also suggest (if it isn't costly to you for international calling) to try at different times of the day (recognizing the time difference for you makes that a bit more challenging).

I think everyone will have more luck if you deal with someone in person once you arrive, but that's just my opinion.

@michael's mom just posted on the WL/VWL thread the email she received from Disney. She is going this month and the email only indicates the closure of the trail behind Teton Boat and Bike rental. I suspect this is only the staging of equipment in the area they used during the WL pool rehab. As was speculated here, this is also indication of the beginning of road/prep work. No end time was given though, only a start time of after 0900.

Take a look at POST 1 of this thread - some of the construction and closure of the FW trail along Bay Lake will start this month and major closures begin 26 OCT.

Felt motivated to post this photo.... why is this important?

Here, we see the EXISTING roads and infrastructure for "getting at" the portions of the Lodge that are to be worked on (liberated from Google Earth): Notice in PARTICULAR the existing "paths" that lead to the rear of the VWL area and Hidden Springs pools. There are not, on July 15th 2015, a whole load of access paths for really heavy equipment . And this photo CAN tell us something....

I am not a Civil Engineer (bet we have a few on the board ). But short of dynamiting a hole in the existing Villas.... I can't see a way for WDW to do this job - until those "walking paths" are expanded to full tilt roads for heavy construction equipment.

Other posts have indicated that Hidden Springs Pool may be the FIRST to get hit - October 2015 through January 2016. I just can't see how, or why, that would be the case. HOW is WDW going to get equipment (big stuff) IN there, if those access roads are not put in place FIRST? Hoping others will help me with this one....

In my review of the South Florida Water Mgmt. E-permit search, I came across a su folder with construction plans, techniques, wetland stuff, etc...

Access and staging of equipment;

Construction site access will be via upland areas using roads and rights-of-way where possible. The construction of a new construction access driveway off World Drive is proposed with this application.

I had a voice mail on Monday regarding the construction. I called back today and luckily the construction begins on our last day on 10/26. We leave on the 27th. We have a courtyard view so I wasn't concerned. We were there during the pool construction last year and were not bothered at all. However, thanks to the DIS members I did call back and ask about a discount for our last day. We had booked a bounce back originally with a departure of 10/26 but added an extra room only at full rack rate. I was waiting for discounts to come up but they offered me $100 off on the 26th. I may still call if a room only discount comes up to see if I can get any more off.

I am booked thru the "Magical" agency, has anyone else who booked with them had luck with the discount? My TA did not get anywhere when he first checked but emailed last night that he was going to get with his boss and see what they can do but I have not heard back....

I received the e-mail today and I'm booked for October 3rd. From what's stated in the letter construction will start and the nature trail will be closed but the major closures won't happen until later in October.

Has anyone has success in getting some sort of compensation with dates in early to mid October?

Just got off the phone with guest relations and was offered a change to AKL savannah view or contemporary garden wing. I offerred to pay the difference to upgrade to a tower room and that wasn't possible. I then asked about the per night discount and she gave me the $100/night off for staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I hope the noise won't be too bad!

I am booked with this agency over Thanksgiving. Let us know what happens with them. When I contacted my TA a month or so ago, she said she hadn't heard of any construction.

I am booked with the magical agency and was told by my TA "that since construction hasn't begun yet they were going to wait before they move guests to different resorts or offer any further discounts. She was told they would be watching the progress of the construction. Often times projects don't start on time and they want to wait to see how things progress and what is affected by the construction as it goes along."

If anyone hears different from them please post and let us know.

When are you going to be there? I called Tuesday morning and was offered to switch resorts for the same price or discounted $100 each night of our stay. We will be at WL end of October when construction is scheduled to start.

I don't know about UK prices. Could it be that they offer you a better room rate in the first place, so they'll give less of a discount? Or Will they let you swap to a different resort if you prefer?

Our dates are 11/28 -12/5. I don't think it should matter what type of rate you have... I have seen people who have free dining who are getting the discount as well as people who booked on a bounce back.

annoyingly theres a room with the American wdtc at AkL but the uk wdtc cant access it.
