I hope so too. I do know that last year there was a LOT of chatter about the debacle of who knew, who didn't, and how much of a mess the main pool was. Every time I see DVC get the not-so-magical shaft, I think it's not such a good thought to consider.

First, thanks to everyone for alerting me about the $100/night discount!

We are going for 7 nights in December. I just got off the phone, after the agent confirmed my reservation, I asked about the $100/night discount I heard about. He asked me to hold so he could review what options he had for my situation. After holding for 15 seconds, he came back with relocation or the discount. I took the discount.

Hi all, just wondering whether any Uk customers have been offered an alternative resort today? We have just received the email this morning and are due to stay in October :-( apparently there are no other resorts available except the AK and we don't really want to stay there. Also have any uk customers been offered the $100 discount?

I will tell you we switched to AKL last year and were very pleased!!! It is a lot like WL but nicely secluded. The transportation for us was quite good last year and the pool was great for those who swim (not me). Only complaint anyone had involved the CL food offerings and having to go upstairs for the lounge. Oh yes, the animals were AWESOME!!! I would stay there again but my crew wants WL so I am cool with that.

Pangyal? We can hope :). But you see.... they already HAVE our money :). Sandy and I don't expect anything :(. And we're not mad about it.... just as we wouldn't be upset in our home, with renovations going on :). I'm not sure the work at the WL could even COMPETE with the nightmare we had re-carpeting, and re-painting last year :).

We won't be hiring a car which is why we thought AK would not be good for us. Really annoyed because uk WDW reservations are saying they could move us to another MK hotel but rooms are not available but they are to US customers!

We were at MK quite a few times ourselves and really didn't have any bus issues. The only long bus ride IMO from AKL was DTD. We only did that once because it was so long. Everything else was 10-20 minutes as I recall.
 
ok, so I asked my TA to check into what Disney would offer me (my trip starts 10/27, the day after construction starts) and she said they offered either free memory maker or a water parks and more upgrade. I did tell her to mention the $100 offer given to others, but the person she spoke with didn't bite. I haven't taken either of their "offers" yet, I might call myself and see if a different CM will do better. I'd much rather take the discount as I don't take pictures with myself in them, and I have no plans to visit a water park.

I find it very frustrating that everyone is being offered different things.

Are you booked through the "Magical" agency? I am having problems with them addressing this and they are saying that Disney is not willing to do anything right now. I am not very happy... this is my first time using a TA and will probably be my last.:mad: By the way if you are booked through a TA, Disney won't even talk to you.

Edited: Wanted to add that when I said it would probably be my last time working with a TA it wasn't anything about the TA it was the lack of control over handling the situation myself. We have now worked through this with the TA to get to a decision that I feel comfortable with and I have learned some things along the way. I probably would not hesitate to use the TA again as what happened in this situation is not the "norm".

No, I'm booked through the agency with three of the same letter HAHA (am I allowed to say?) ;) I've used my TA for many years for all sorts of vacations!

I thought that it was true that Disney would only talk to the TA, that's why I asked her to inquire. I still don't know what to do! Should I ask her to try again and insist on my behalf? It's very frustrating :( The reason for not offering $$ was they said my room would be away from the construction. They seemed not to understand that I wasn't concerned about the noise, but the amenities I would be paying for but unable to use!

Yes, I am hoping that they recognize that the Villas area is what is going to bear the brunt of the work. I have been living with ongoing construction for the past eight years everywhere in Toronto and my vacations are sacred, so this is frustrating. Respectfully, though, when you do a renovation on your home, you plan for it, you know about it, and you are in full control of the timeline. This is the opposite.

Edit- I just got a notice that they are going to be jack hammering next door this week to rip out tiling and replace flooring in the condo unit beside us. Mercy, I give up.

We switched to Port, got a refunded the amount difference. We had to pay to upgrade from the QS plan to keep our TS DP. Also will get $100 credit to the room.
 
Really appreciate your feedback on this. Unfortunately we have left it too late. There are now no rooms at AK either! We are just going to keep trying...

We managed to call Virgin and switch our 2016 trip to Beach Club, paying only £10 more. We were expecting a £500-700 extra to pay.

I would expect the initial work will be slow to pickup in October

Same thing happened last yr & i switched to AKL , it was great but do not want a repeat of the same holiday! I am waiting on a call from Disney, they promised to call "in the next couple of days"!..

WDTC-UK just need to get more rooms from WDW. If you look in the US site there are rooms. Stay with them until your satisfied. It has put a shadow over the holiday. We are just hoping that it will pass.
