Two different kinds, dry or moist. Think of a cake cookie with chocolate and vanilla frosting. Some are softer (moist) or a little firmer (dry). It depends on the bakery or family recipe. My family has their own secret recipe that was passed down from my great grandfather (but I don't know it, my father does though).

Half the frosting, just like in the video above. The tops looked the same, only the base was different.

I'm not sure if it was standard for the whole area or a quirk of our local bakery, but they were delicious!

Thanks for the response. As I said before, everyone has a different recipe all over NY. If you lived in western NY, do you consider yourself an honorary NYer?

I was born about 15 miles NE of Boston. I was pretty young but my older sibs thought it was a great place to grow up!
My mom had fond memories of shopping in Filenes basement.

I don’t know, but the revolution essentially started here so I assume every house is haunted. My own house was on the Underground Railroad (tunnels and all) so I assume this place has ghosts. I do not enter my basement at night.
