Loved New England except for the winters and moved to Central Florida over three decades ago. I miss it a lot and will always be a New Englander.
I wasn't much of a sports fan all, except for my brother's Little League team.Did you root for NY teams growing up or were you always a Boston sports fan?
Do you have a favorite MA vacation spot or a historic site you like to visit most?I wasn't much of a sports fan all, except for my brother's Little League team.
I suppose if football was on TV, I was "rooting" for whoever my Dad wanted to win, which would have been NY teams, but I likely wasn't paying that much attention.
I did watch Olympic gymnastics and ice skating with my mom, but of course, that was only on every couple of years, and obviously not specific to either state.
Not really one particular favorite over others, just a general awe when I moved here about being so close to all the historical stuff I'd only read about.Do you have a favorite MA vacation spot or a historic site you like to visit most?
I hope you don't mind that I made a spinoff NY metro area Disboarders thread. So if you or other MA Disboarders have questions about visiting my home region, you can do so there. Not really one particular favorite over others, just a general awe when I moved here about being so close to all the historical stuff I'd only read about.
And when DS was little, we used to go to the museums and the aquarium pretty often.
As an adult, no. I plan to go there to visit when Covid is truly gone.Buzz have you been to Boston?
Sadly, that could be a very long time from now. Live your life anyway! As an adult, no. I plan to go there to visit when Covid is truly gone.
Did you see my user name?
The eastern part of the state tends to forget that anything exists west of Worcester.MA Disboarders, is there a cultural difference between Western and Eastern Massachusetts? In New York there are cultural differences between Western NY and the rest of the state. So I'm curious if the same is true in MA.
Yes, it's Kernettikit beyond Woostah. The eastern part of the state tends to forget that anything exists west of Worcester.
That's just insulting. CT might as well be NY.Yes, it's Kernettikit beyond Woostah.
Wait, are you saying that there’s a western Mass?MA Disboarders, is there a cultural difference between Western and Eastern Massachusetts?
Sure, I think so. But each of the areas is sort of unique anyway - not just western MA, but south shore, north shore, coastal areas, cape cod, etc. It’s all good, though! All offer some cool and unique things.MA Disboarders, is there a cultural difference between Western and Eastern Massachusetts? Amherst is in western MA (Hampshire county), not central. It's even colored in the western MA color on the map.
The article is probably written by someone from eastern Mass, which reaffirms what you wrote on post #93.Amherst is in western MA (Hampshire county), not central. It's even colored in the western MA color on the map.
