Boozin’ It Up 12/5-12/7 coming ASAP

So there's still no computer to upload pictures to, but I thought I'd add our next trip to the list. We just booked September 19-22 at Anaheim Plaza Hotel. This trip is for my mom's birthday, so another mother/daughter trip! Plus dad... We asked my brothers if they wanted to go. One couldn't get off work and a radio show that he does on Sundays, but the other one said he didn't think he'd have fun at Disneyland....ummm WHAT!? Obviously this is no brother of mine :snooty:

We chose Anaheim plaza because it was about $30-$40 cheaper than most other hotels for that time. We got a room for $65 a night.

Maybe when I get back from that trip, I will be able to write up two reports.

oh boo! No pics! I hope your laptop issue gets resolved though because its absolutely ridiculous when you don't have your laptop.

You & your dad look so cute in that picture of you guys at a San Jose Giants game :)

Did you like wandering around Disneyland by yourself? I've been wanting to do that !

It really stinks not having a laptop! All my stuff is on it :sad1:

Wandering around by myself had its good and bad points. I liked that I got to just do whatever I felt like. I could sit down if I wanted, eat something, go on a ride and then go on one all the way across the park, etc. However I really did miss gushing about rides when they were done. Also, waiting in longer lines by yourself is pretty boring. I tried to use fastpass and single rider as much as possible, but when I wanted to go on Peter Pan by myself...it was 30 min of standing around bored.

OMG!! You are going the same dates we'll be there (Sept. 17th - 20th)! We'll have to keep a lookout for you in the parks. :cool1:

So Monday September 21st, which is my mom's birthday, has park hours from 9am to 6pm. Kind of yucky since we will only be there two days, but whatever, I'm sure we can fit in what we want to do. However, on that day there is an Ahameim Ducks vs. San Jose Sharks pre-season game in Anaheim at 7pm. We are big Sharks fans and we will have nothing else to do that night, so I just bought 3 tickets from stubhub. They are actually in the club level which means it's private access with personal wait service at your seats. Very fancy. Since we will have at least 30 minutes to get there(I'm giving us plenty of time to get out of the park), I'm trying to decide if we should drive down Katella or take ART. It's 3 miles from our hotel so it's walkable, but after 2 days walking in DLR....not so much.

Has anyone used ART before? I can't make much sense of the route map on the website. I'm hoping there is just one we can take from our end of Katella down to the Honda Center.

Ahhh! I be so jealous. I can't make any preseason games - even in SJ - and I am dying to get a hockey fix in. I'm hoping to go to the home opener, but that's still up in the air right now. Hope it's a blast! The one time I went to see a game in Anaheim my family just dropped me off (nobody else in my house likes hockey much) so I'm not much help with ART.

I have never used it but I have a friend that uses it and she swears by it. I have no clue of it runs though.

Nice! I'm glad your got some tickets. Like I said on the other board I don't think its on tv that night. Hopefully the Duck fans don't go too crazy if you wear your jerseys. Can't wait to hear how it goes. :surfweb:

I checked and it's not. My brother told me that ESPN isn't a huge supporter of hockey anyway. Pre-season or not. It would have been nice to watch during dinner at ESPN Zone though. I'm definitely wearing my shirt or jersey so I hope I don't get mauled.

Woo! Go Sharks! Are you a San Jose-er too ??

Yep! I am from the Los Gatos/Campbell area of San Jose. It should be fun mixing hockey with Disneyland.

We're actually only going to be in the park September 20 and 21, so you better keep your eyes peeled!

Don't worry - my eyes will be peeled!! :goodvibes

I'm so excited that you are going to the Sharks v. Ducks game! Have a great time and I can't wait to hear how it went. If you ever are in Disneyland during the regular season ESPN Zone is usually pretty good about putting hockey games on. If you ask for them to put it on, they will. :)

I'm excited too! If we can't be in Disneyland because of some stinky, private party then a hockey game will definitely make up for it. Though how good of a dinner that will be... okay who am I kidding, it will be a delicious dinner :lmao:

So I have our itinerary pretty much set. We will have 23 hours available to us while we are there and I have our rides arranged for the most part. I've only made one PS for this trip and that is for Carnation Cafe at 12:30pm on Sunday the 20th. Our dinner that night will be corn dogs from the red cart(YUM!). Our lunch on Monday will be Taste Pilots' and our dinner that night will probably be misc. stuff at the hockey game. Like my last two trips, I will be bringing a variety of breakfast items to have in the hotel for the mornings(and late night snacks!). On Tuesday the 22nd, we're going to eat breakfast at Mimi's(I need to remember to sign my mom up with them to get her a bday coupon) and then drive to Downtown Disney before we travel home. Can someone confirm that the Birthday Funcard can be used at World of Disney and Marceline's in Downtown Disney?

I've been going back and forth on how we are going to get from Disneyland or our hotel to the Honda Center for the hockey game. If we drive, parking will be $15 and we will be able to go directly there and get in our car and drive back directly after the game. ART would be $4/person for a total of $12, but I'm really not clear on the routes map and am not really sure there is a route from Disneyland directly to the Honda Center. For that option we would have to wait a bit and possibly transfer buses. Yellow cab estimates it to be $7 each way from the hotel to Honda Center for a total of $14. We can arrange for them to pick us up at a specific time and call for a taxi when the game is ending.

To conclude:
Parking is most expensive but most convenient.
Taking a taxi is midpriced and just a little less convenient.
ART is confusing to me but least expensive.

Decisions decisions. Any opinions?

This time in two weeks, I will be in Anaheim :woohoo:

I vote for driving. The extra $5 or so will be totally worth it when you can just get in your car and drive home (or to the hotel in your case). Plus, you don't really want to be a confused tourist in LA late at night. ART is probably not the safest way to go. :)

Look what I got today...

Our hockey tickets! See that at the top? "Premium Level Access" :woohoo:

I got my laptop back! It was the motherboard so I am glad that I extended the warranty and didn't have to pay a fortune to fix it. I am currently working on photos so I will be able to start my trip report from August this week. Hopefully I will finish it before I leave on Saturday, but I can't promise anything. Stay tuned if you're out there!
