Boozin’ It Up 12/5-12/7 coming ASAP

Whhaaaatt? Another post so soon? Ridiculous.

I didn’t know what my mom would think of “It’s Tough To Be A Bug”, but she LOVED it! We were laughing so, so much and when the beetle pinched us I didn’t know whether she would get over how funny it was.
Disney0160.jpg

Then we wandered into Flik’s Fun Fair.
Disney0161.jpg

Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train was so much fun but we had to laugh at how short it was. I loved the smells and his sayings had us in stitches.
Disney0162.jpg

I love being in Bugs Land. With all the details you really feel like you have been shrunk to the size of a bug.
Disney0163.jpg

Francis’ Ladybug Boogie became a fast favorite.
Disney0164.jpg

I don’t know why she gave me this scary look right when I clicked the shutter button, but it is funny.

Disney0165.jpg

Ugh, splitting bangs is the worst.

Disney0166.jpg

We matched!

Flik’s Flyers were equally fun.
Disney0167.jpg

Disney0168.jpg

Disney0170.jpg

The details! I think we were in the Raisin Box or the Animal Crackers, I know we had scouted out one of those to ride in.

As much fun as Princess Dot Puddle Park looked, we figured we’d done all we could in Bug’s Land and made our way out…

Disney0172.jpg

I was really enjoying Francis.

Disney0173.jpg

D is for Debra!

Disney0175.jpg

She really liked this truck and requested a picture with it.

So now was the time for Paradise Pier. Oh so many walls up. I did like the little cutouts of characters with hard hats on, so that you could take your picture there. Sorry I don’t think I have a picture of it.

Here is where there is no longer water!
Disney0177.jpg

We were a little bummed seeing it like that but it didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. I know it’s going to come back better than ever and I will just have to come back to see it.

I don’t even know what time we got onto Toy Story Mania, but I know that a Disneyland person handed us a card that he had written the time on. He asked us to give that to the ride loader when we got to the front and that way they would be able to see the average wait time. Pretty cool. It ended up being a 30 minute wait almost exactly. The line was loooong. Winding this way and that, but it did move pretty steadily.

We had so much fun. I knew we would after having enjoyed Buzz Lightyear quite a bit.
Disney0179.jpg

Disney0180.jpg

Disney0181.jpg

I was player 1. We did….okay. It was fun that’s all that counts. Right? Right? :rotfl:

Next we got what I had been waiting quite a while for…
Disney0182.jpg

Frozen Lemonade!!! Oh so delicious. I love these. So refreshing when it’s hot out :cloud9:

We took these with us to the Tortilla Factory tour where we both got a flour tortilla to eat and I got a baggie of 4 extras for my birthday! MMM way to make me feel special. Also, when we stopped at a pin cart to look around, the CM wished me happy birthday and asked if Goofy had done the same. When I said no, she went right to her phone, dialed a number and had me listen to Goofy sing me happy birthday. Thank you CM! You were so nice.

We sat on a bench by Grizzly River Run to sip our lemonades and people watch. A CM came over and asked if we would do a survey about our Disneyland experience. We got a sticker of Mickey with a big pen for participating.

I had meant for us to use our fast passes for Soarin’ at this time but I guess the second screen was down so the fast pass return line was a 40 minute wait. We decided that we would just have to come back later that evening to ride. Not that we minded making another trip to DCA. So instead we did a bit of shopping. I bought pins for my friends and two of my coworkers. An Ursula pin for my coworker Monica, a NBC pin for my coworker Veronica, a pin that was cherries in the shape of a Mickey head for my friend Megan, A Leopard spotted Mickey head pin for my friend Liz, and a pirate Mickey head for my friend Laurel. After shopping we made our way back to the hotel for a bit of a nap. We also warmed ourselves a tortilla and spread butter on it as a naptime snack. Makes me want one right now…

Oh yummy! That looks so delicious right now.

I love stickers!! A little bummed I didn't get one when I filled out one of their surveys.

I always see those dang stickers and wondered how people got them! Thank YOU! Now my mystery is solved!!! :yay:

Excellent trip report so far!

The frozen lemonade looks soooo delicious...

Can't wait for more!

P.S. Splitting bangs are the worst (although yours looked totally cute so you shouldn't worry about it). I obsessed over my bangs too much so I had to grow 'em out. Although, that awkward growing out stage is the ABSOLUTE worst!

Mmm frozen lemonades at Disneyland(or DCA) are my favorite. So refreshing and tart(I'm not really a sweets person)

Oh no! No sticker? Sadd.

It was a CM with a messenger bag and some electronic something that he entered our answers into. They probably give out the stickers so that another CM won't ask you to participate in the survey again!

I am a hairstylist and I basically have to beg to get my hair done by one of my coworkers(none of us want to do eachother's hair after a full day of doing hair) so I had to cut my bangs myself the night before we left. They were misbehaving, but I didn't bring my shears with me to fix them! Growing out is bad, which is why my hair is always short. No patience.

We woke up from our nap very refreshed in mind/spirit, but the arch on my right foot was starting to feel a bit achey… I put on some thicker socks and popped a few Ibuprofen before we made our way to the Golden Horseshoe for Billy Hill and The Hillbillies at 5:15pm.
Disney0186.jpg

They were so funny but also really amazing musicians. I highly suggest this show to everyone.

We decided to use this time to hopefully use our fast passes for Soarin’. It was getting very, very chilly though, so we first needed to buy me a long sleeve shirt to put on. I felt significantly cozier after the additional layer. I was now wearing a camisole, a long sleeved t-shirt, my Mickey t-shirt, and my sweatshirt. Feeling warmer, we went to use our FP. Knowing this would be our last time on this ride this trip, we breathed in extra deep and wiggled our feet even more, savoring the experience. We wished DCA goodbye and said we’d see it again soon.

I was finally able to catch Minnie when we made it back into Disneyland(by now with our hands stamped to within an inch of their lives).
Disney0187.jpg

Adorable if I do say so myself.

Mom also found a friend on Main Street…
Disney0190.jpg

We were quite famished now that it was about 7pm, so we went to the Red Cart and got two corndogs, two bags of apple slices, and 1 water.
Disney0191.jpg

I was almost hungry enough to finish this, but not quite. Now that our stomachs were satisfied, it was time for more rides, but unfortunately…

Man down! Arch of right foot fallen and can‘t get up. Oh boy was it aching. We slooowwly walked(I hobbled) all the way out to Critter Country for another ride on Pooh. I figured it would be best to go to the farthest ride and work our way back, so I wasn’t hobbling back and forth across the park.

Disney0192.jpg

Pooh in the dark is fun, plus we went into Pooh’s corner this time…
Disney0193.jpg

I had to try one. It was very sweet and chewy, but tasty. I couldn’t eat it all in one go though.

Now that we had made our way out to the edge of the park, we retraced our steps for Haunted Mansion and Pirates. I won’t lie… we got quite spooked on Haunted Mansion at night. It was very dark and chilly. Creeepy.

Another bust on Pirates…. The boat in front of us was packed with what seemed like a group of 30... They were being SO LOUD, and kept flashing the cameras and then laughing hysterically about it. What happened to CM’s getting angry over the loudspeaker? Unfortunately we didn’t get a good ride from Pirates this trip… we’ll have to go again soon!

Peter Pan was a very long line but we got in it since it would be our last time this trip.
Disney0204.jpg

We got our favorite Striped boat and we said goodbye to Neverland as we flew over.

During Snow White… I swear I fell asleep and missed a part. It’s so disjointed at the end. Silly.

We got on Teacups but were too tired to spin it excessively.
Disney0206.jpg

We finished off Fantasyland with another go on Dumbo. This was our 4th time!
Disney0208.jpg

It was so cold up there. Neither of us really wanted to take our hands out of our pockets to work the lever.
Disney0209.jpg

We walked(I hobbled) around some more, taking it all in, enjoying our last evening. When we saw that Buzz was only a 5 min wait, we decided to get on. Lucky us, the ride kept stopping repeatedly so we got lots of opportunities to shoot at the Targets.
buzz2.jpg

We decided to call it a night, but not before our churro and hot chocolate.
Disney0135.jpg

This was from the night before, but I forgot to post it.

With those in hand, we slowly exited Disneyland, made our way across the esplanade and back to our hotel where I promptly passed out.

Ahem... don't think I really finished this report. It's been two months. My bad everyone! I've been coming on the boards but I seem to have thought I finished this until I started trying to plan another trip and remembered this thread! I'm crazy. At least I got through the Disneyland portion and the traveling part is not exciting. But what is exciting is me trying to plan another trip for August!

My friend has been a dancer in the electrical parade all summer and I've been intending to go see him for a while. Well it'll be over on the 22nd of August so I really need to get down there soon. Unfortunately a trip all by myself will be a bit costly so I've been trying to find people to drive down/get a hotel with me. Weirdly enough, no one seems interested! Blasphemy I know. So I'm almost to the point of giving up on other people. If I'm going alone, I want to order a plane ticket soon and figure out how I'll get around/where I will stay.

How is everyone? This entire thread has probably been forgotten. Why don't they have a sheepish face?

I haven't forgotten you, Meredith! In fact, I was just explaining the camera I got to people in my Trip Report in the last couple of days, and I mentioned YOUR name and said I got the tip about the camera from you and read the reviews for it that you posted the link for! And I have also referred a couple of people to your TR in the past! I wondered where you disappeared to!

I don't even have an explanation myself. I feel like these past months have been a blur. I got a new job and it's GREAT. So great I guess that I've forgotten about a ton of other stuff(that saying holds true that time flies when you are having fun). But I have come back more and more frequently again due to the trip I am trying so hard to organize.

Hey, a GREAT job is always a good reason to not have time to visit the DIS - and we all forgive you! What kind of job is it?

Well I'm a hairstylist, so not exactly a new "job" but a new location. I'm working in Santa Cruz, so it has a very nice laid back beachy feel. The last two salons I was at were just horrible fits. I had bosses who either yelled all the time, or were just terrible at managing their own salons, so really enjoying going into work at this new shop is amazing.

Your TR is so great to look at ! I just spent the past 30 minutes going through it while waiting for a file to export on my computer and the time just flew by!

How can you go to DLR by yourself?!?! Thats no fun!! You have to be able to get off a ride and turn to someone next to you and gush about how amazing it is to them!

What does your friend do in the parade ?

I just finished the scrapbook for this trip, so I've been looking at these pictures for so long.

I really don't want to go by myself. Partly because traveling alone sounds awful and because I wouldn't know what to do by myself...riding rides alone? Saddd :( But I can't get anyone to commit to going with me! I don't understand.

My friend is a dancer. Here he is:

Oooooh - it must be great to work in Santa Cruz, in the laid back, beachy area - especially during summer. So you like this new boss (so far)? It is the worst to work for someone who you either cannot stand or who has a lot of 'issues', or who just plain is inept at running a business (and many employers are probably more inept at managing thigns than their employees would be!) and doesn't appreciate their employees. Been there, done that. I am trying to freelance now - partially out of necessity and partially because I was in a job for 14 years that was toxic for me and where I was underapprecated and I need to just kind of make my own hours for a while and work in my own style for a while until a good job that is right for me comes along out in the work force somewhere! I hope your new job goes really well for you!

I was just saying last week on Belle Ella's Trip Report (she is going to DLR again in September for her birthday) that I am impressed and surprised at the number of people - especially girls - who have taken solo DLR trips. Not only has Belle Ella done it, but Bumbershoot has done it, Boo Bear has done it and I think Wendylady36 has taken a solo trip too. And there are more I am forgetting. For me, see, I have done things by myself a lot - I have gone on solo Catalina trips for weekends or for a week, and other day-trip places, and the eating alone part was a little weird for me, but other than that it was great! I LOVED having a golf cart all to myself and cruising around the Island. I loved being able to go at my own pace and take photos of whatever I wanted when I wanted, and just have meditative quiet time. However, at DLR, it is a different vibe. Everything is not so laid back and calming at DLR as it is on Catalina. There is more of a need to DO things. I feel that DLR is probably best experienced with other people, because you do want to be able to turn to a friend after riding TSMM and say, "Aw, man, you beat me AGAIN! I demand another round!" It is fun to sit there with a friend or friends and people-watch. It is fun to sit there at a character meal and take silly photos of each other with Chip & Dale or whoever.

That said, I did enjoy my few hours of golden alone time at DLR last December, when my friend went to work and left me on my own to take photos and be by myself, and she came back to pick me up too soon for my liking. I can see that I could probably do a weekend by myself at DLR and get a lot of picture-taking done without anyone slowing me down - plus, there are always people to talk to at DLR and I can offer to take other photos for people - but I think the best trip for me would be a combination of having friends with me for a couple of days and then being by myself for a couple of days. I think if I were by myself for too long I would start to feel odd and lonely!

Hi Meredith!! Welcome back. I say go by yourself. I love Disneyland by myself. When I was a teenager and a young adult I would go with my parents and go off on my own. Some of my best times at Disneyland when I was younger were by myself. I am glad to see you back. And congratulations on the Santa Cruz job.

It can be hard finding other people to tag a long some times. I'd go with you in a heartbeat :rotfl2: But I do have to say solo trips really aren't that bad, the only exception of course being that it ends up a little costlier. I'm glad that my trip in September isn't going to be all on my lonesome for that very reason. But I do enjoy having completely free reign over what gets done when. Shame on people not being interested! It's DLR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to see you back though!

Okay the Nerdylightbulb post was actually mine. I let my daughter use my laptop yesterday and I thought she had logged me back in silly me. I wonder how threads I went on as her yesterday.:lmao:

I have found that in the beauty industry especially, owners of salons who work in a chair and also try to manage their salon just cannot do everything at once. Salons that really thrive are those that have a salon manager to handle the business end of it. So what is great about this new place is that there are 3 owners(two sisters and a niece). One of the owners handles the financial end and is rarely in the salon, another owner is a stylist in the salon and is there to manage the general running of it but isn't into the really hard business stuff, and the third is currently on maternity leave, so she is around from problem solving but not hands on all the time. They seem to have a very good system of delegating management and that works well towards making the salon run smoothly.

I am not completely against a solo trip(my friend will be able to spend some time in the parks with me when he isn't working), but right now it's really more of a cost issue. I could spend the money for a solo trip, but I'm the kind of person who hates dropping a bunch of money at once. It makes me a little queasy(that's what I get for a scrooge of a father(only when it comes to money)). The entertainment rate was available the 15th, 16th, and 17th of August which would have been amazing but I held off too long while trying to use it as leverage to get people to come with me, and now it's no longer available :sad2:

I just don't understand why no one seems to want to go to DISNEYLAND. It really is about cost at this point. I want to keep it low. Getting a bunch of(even just 2) people to drive down and share a room with me would make a nice difference.

Thanks for the welcome back! I have to put some time aside to read through your thread!

Next time you see a date they have the Ent. rate for that you think could be a possiblity I'd honestly just say book it right away, even if you aren't sure just yet. Nobody had officially said they would be joining me in September wehn I booked mine, but I didn't want to miss the dates and the rate. Then if things don't work out you can cancel your reservation. Too bad that you couldn't get it for those dates anymore though. I know the Ent. rate played a big role in convincing some people about my September plans.

How can anyone seriously say no to Disneyland?!?! It's impossible right?!?! We don't live in some alternate universe, use DLR loving folks, do we? On second thought, don't answer that! I hope you can convince at least one person to go. Crunching numbers for how much I would have had to pay with 1, 2, 3, or even 4 people showed me just how much a difference it makes cost wise. It really can be a deal breaker.

And hey, the good thing about the TR's - they aren't going anywhere!!
