We would like to go to VB next year 12/28/08-1/2/08. We are a family of 9 (including a toddler who will not count towards occupancy). Ideally we would love to book a cottage but I wonder if they are as difficult to get as a GV. A 2-bedroom would be great also and we would book two single rooms if necessary. So I guess we are willing to book any room available. What is the chance we will be able to get 1 large or 2 small rooms for these dates at the 7 month window. We plan to book day by day.

Thanks for any and all opinions!

I think the lack of response is due to the real iffy timing. Your'e not actually booking Christmas, but still before new years. I would say forget a cottage. A 1 bdrm is going to be your best best (short of a studio). I don't have the room type distribution numbers, but I don't think VB has bunches of 2 bdrms like HHI. If Lisareniff sees this I am sure she can post the numbers and give you a better feel for what % of rooms are 1 bdrm. She is the VB stat-meister. Ultimately, only that phone call will tell for sure. Good luck.

You rang?

I had read you post but couldn't really add any thing but to say I don't think you will be able to get a Beach Cottage at 7 months ...but I have no experience this time year and you never know. The higher point weekends will be easier.

As far as numbers...

There are
36 lock-off 2 bedroom villas
18 dedicated 2 bedroom villas
6 Beach Cottages :cloud9:
112 ? Inn Rooms (including Ocean View and Garden View)

If you cant get a 2 bedroom then 2 connecting OVIRs or GVIRs may be an option. Getting connecting rooms is just a request but there are a few of them.

I knew you'd have the figures. Do you know how many 1 bdrms there are?

Are the studios just the lockoff portion of the 2bdrm or are they totally separate units? I'm still learning this stuff.

I'm going to be much more inquisitive this next June visit. Typically, when I get there about all I can see is the ocean.

I am curious about the 1 bedrooms as well. I will be transferring pts. for 2009, so next summer (2009) I will have to ressie at the 7 mos. mark. I was thinking of trying the 1 bdrm. (how are the beach views?). :goodvibes

Hmmm. Sparse at best depending on floor and building. Mostly partial to just a peek. We have never stayed in bldg 15, which I believe had much of the vegetation removed by the hurricanes and might have some decent views.

We tend to switch back and forth between OVIR and 1 bdrm from year to year. Sure wish they had an OV1B. :)

The two bedroom lock-offs can be either used as a 2 bedroom with the connecting door open or as a separate 1 bedroom and studio with the door locked between the two. So there can be a maximum of 36 studios and 36 1 bedrooms and a minimum of 0 (all used as 2 bedrooms).
