Before I am discounted as just a right wing nutjob....yes, I will be voting for McCain; however, my husband will vote for Hillary if she is the nominee.

I would not mind Hillary in the white house....but I would have a problem with an anti-white, anti-jew and ANTI-AMERICAN bigot in the white house. JMO

As an Obama supporter, here's my take.

am I disappointed? yes. do I wish he had nothing to with this man? yes.

but he denounced it. and the way I look it is that I'm Catholic. I have a Priest I've known since I was a child that I go to for help and guidance when I need it. This Priest teaches homosexuality is against the Church, all forms of birth control are wrong, and other things I am in the complete opposite view of. But for my "spiritual" questions and when I need help trying to understand something, he's who I go to. Of course, I'm not running for President.

I'm not making excuses, but I'd be willing to bet that more than a few of the Church leaders that our politicians go to hold some beliefs that some half of us would find absolutely wrong.

Do I believe Obama is a racist and believes those things the Rev was preaching about? Absolutely not.

Do I believe some people will use this as an excuse not to vote for a black man as President? Sadly, yes.

As far as Im concerned - hanging out in a church such as this, for 20+ years, getting married there and having kids there....he made his own bed.

good point but here is the thing, if the Church i went to preached anti Black and anti American things from the pulit, I would leave right now, I would not go for 20 years and say I love the guy preaching it but dont agree with it

Sure, and I think in many cases it does result in people losing confidence in the individual. Politicians have a history of telling half truths, but I think this situation calls for blunt honesty. I think he has found himself in a "damned if he does and damned if he doesn't" situation, but I can't respect a dishonest person. It goes back to the issue of being willing to present whatever face is necessary to be elected.

May I suggest you speak to another Priest because the church is NOT totally against homosexuality, nor are they against ALL forms of Birth Control.

The Catholic Church teaches that homosexual persons deserve respect, justice and pastoral care. Its the physical part that concerns the Church.
The Catholic Church does allow the Rhythm method for Birth control.

These issues are very debatable, but they are the churches stand.
