We prepaid and have our ressies for August in a preferred studio at Boardwalk Villas. Initially, we were going to be a party of:
(2) adults, (1) 13 year old, and (1)5 year old.
We now have:
(2 adults, (1) 13 year old, (1)5 year old, and 1 ROWDY GRANDMA.
My 13 year old son invited her, and said he wouldnt mind sleeping on the twin areobed. She bought her tickets and is scooter ready.
My questions are:
(1)Is it too late to upgrade to a 1 bedroom?
(2)Will Disney freak out if we have 4 adults plus a child in the studio?
(3)Will we have to purchase a separate studio if a one bedroom is not available?
I am very glad she is going, for she is truly a beautiful person, and we all get along great, but I need to change a few things, that are difficult to change at the last minute. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

What dates are you going? Did you rent points or rent outright (direct from Disney)?

AFAIK the 1 bedroom has the same 4 person occupancy limit (although you'll have more space).

In my opinion, you will be really cramped in a studio with 3 adults & 2 kids. Disney & DVC usually overlook a 5th person when it's a child, but the rule for a studio & 1 bedroom is 4 plus a child under 2. You will only get towels for 4. I would get a separate studio if you can. Another option would be to get her a room at the Boardwalk Inn.

I would call cro and list 5 persons on your reservation. BWV studios are the only DVC studios that can accomadate 5.

They have what is called a studio plus that includes a small daybed that a small 5 year old can legally sleep on. If it is not comfortable for him you can use the aerobed, but you will be legal.

If you list 5 on your ressie you are more likely to get a studio plus than someone with 4 listed. You cannot reserve a studio plus, its the decision of the room assigner

Even with the Studio Plus, you will be very crowded. Very little drawer space in a BWV studio. As DebbieB said, you will only get bedding and linens (towels) for four people. You really need to get a second studio or a 2 bedroom. You may need to advise gramma that she will need to join you on next year's trip because your room is full.

Did I read your post correctly or were you just commenting about the grandmother? If she has a scooter, you won't have room for the aerobed and the scooter anyway.

My family stayed in the bwv a few years ago. We had what I remember to be the studio room. It had a masterbedroom, king size bed, then in the other room was the kitchen with pull out sofa for 2 people and balcony. My dad is in a wheelchair. We had my parents in the master, and 1 person on the pull out sofa in that studio and it was pretty tight as the chair was almost an extra person, then we had an adjoining room which was essentially just a hotel room, two full beds and a full size sleeper sofa. It also had a balcony. Our 'villa' looked over the themed pool. We had 3 people sleeping in the regular room. I really reccomend getting an arrangement like that if you can. We used the kitchen from both sides, etc, but the extra beds and shower made all the difference in the world.

That's a 1 bedroom. A studio has a queen and a pullout double sofa (2 queens at OKW) and a kitchenette (small fridge, microwave, toaster, sink). Basically the same size as a deluxe hotel room.

then we had an adjoining room which was essentially just a hotel room, two full beds and a full size sleeper sofa.

Are you sure you were at BWV? None of the BWV rooms have two beds & a sleeper sofa in the same room. The second bedroom of a 2 bedroom lockoff (connecting room) has 1 queen and a sleeper sofa.

as to the 2nd bedroom having 2 beds and pull out sofa, it may have been 2 fulls and pull out, the size of the bed i'm not sure on, but i'm sure that we had 2 beds and a pull out in the adjoining room. The reason I remember this is....in the suite room my parents were in the masterbedroom, my sister's boyfriend had the pullout sofa in the familyroom. In the adjoining room I had a bed, my sister had a bed and my friend slept on the pull out. I don't remember any of us sharing beds. This was '98 and I may have shared a bed with my sister, but I'm pretty sure I would have remembered doing this.
Also I know it was the BWV because we were on the boardwalk, we ate at spoodles regularly, used the rollarcoaster pool, my sister thought the elaphant was great. We stayed there because my dad's favorite park is Epcot and since he's in a wheelchair the boat accesiblity was important to him, and we wanted a villa style room so he'd have a kitchen if he wanted some food if he didn't want to leave his room that day.

Sounds like you shared a bed with your sister. Maybe you're subconsciously trying to forget it ;) ? The 2BR villas at the BWV have one queen and one sleeper sofa in the "lock-off" (seond bedroom). There's no way you could fit two queens and a sleeper int ath room, just not enough floor space.

katrina, you may have been in a Studio Plus which is 2 beds and a small daybed.

I had thought that at first too, but I don't think so--none of the Studio Plus' are lock-offs. The daybed sits where the door to the lockoff would be.

Maybe you had a suite at the Boardwalk Inn? Inn rooms have 2 queen beds & a daybed.

Maybe it we had two beds and the sofa because the extra room was also handicap accessible? And that room was sized larger to make up for the larger size of the suite? I don't know, but I know where I stayed. I'm sorry if you don't believe me, but I actually dug up some old pictures last night and yes in deed there were 2 full beds and a sleeper in the separate room. And yes we had the connecting room to the suite. The suite had a kitchen and family room with sleeper. It had a washing machine, master bed with king bed, and master bath with whirlpool and walkin closet.

Maybe since 98 some rooms have been redone. All I know is that is where we stayed and that is what we had. According the paperwork I found it was called a 2 bedroom villa.

Sorry to cause all of this turmoil, but it is the truth. I'm not subconsiously remembering things, I'm not making this up. Believe if you will.

Although disney really frowns upon it I have done it with 4 adults and 1 child in a studio. There really isn't that much room unless one of the children is sleeping in bed with (and the bed will be very cramped) The towel situation is no big deal. Even when my wife and I are the only 2 going we always ask for extra towels.

If you are renting points form a DVC member you will have to pay for extra towels, FYI.
