Just curious what everyones thoughts are on a Boardwalk view room vs. Standard view. Is it worth the extra points????

I have stayed BW view twice, and will stay SV first time in Dec. I love the BW view, and would be having it again, except I only had enough points for the 2br SV. I would recommend it at least once - there is nothing like it on property.

Then you will know if it's worth it! It is to me!

Absolutely!! We love a Boardwalk view! It is great to just sit and watch all the activity below you. The standard view is fine but there's no contest for you. But be careful- just because you ask for preferred doesn't mean it will be a Boardwalk view

After many trips to the BWV, we always reserved standard view. But this Thankgiving sicne we could gurantee a Boardwalk view we decided to try it. From reading posts from others on the board, I think we will love it and probably always want the view. It will be interesting for us former standard view aficionados.

We have our first boardwalk view this December. I don't know if it's worth the extra points but, I just have to see it for myself. I just can't wait to have my first cup of coffee overlooking the boardwalk.

Just my thought.
Joy:tongue:

Haha - must be something in the beautiful Maine day we just had - high 70's breezy and very low humidity - just perfect. Makes me think of sitting on a BWV veranda at night.................

I have no idea on the view but do want to purchase a resale at BWV...more than anything, I just wanted to make it four posts from Maine. Sounds like tomorrow will be nice too, we deserve it after the cold january and rotten summer.

Yes it was perfect today. So perfect that it took me until tonight to think about WDW.

I can hear the ocean in the background as I type and I'll gladly take that for now and wait until November for the BWV.

Very observant tomi.

We just returned from Boardwalk and had a 2 bdrm standard view (rooms 4105/07 lock-off). We had a obstructed view of Illumination fireworks which was a great suprise. I think the points required for a preferred view are a bit steap and if you can get a view of fireworks and not use your points the better off you are (IMO). We did view the drive coming up to the entry. Good luck and Im sure you'll love Boardwalk regardless of view.

I have never been able to get a standard view room so I can't comment on whether it's better or not. I have stayed at the Boardwalk 5 times since I've owned.

Twice we were on the 3rd & 4th floors at the Crest o' the Wave portion facing the boardwalk - loved, loved, loved, loved, the view. I really can't tell you how much I loved the view. I spent just about all of my time while we were not in the parks out on my balcony. My son and I would stay until the wee hours of the morning and laugh our fannies off watching the drunks coming out of Jellyrolls. So much fun...
I would get up before dawn to see the sun rise over Spaceship Earth. So beautiful. I have a picture of my son sleeping in his bed with Spaceship Earth lit up in the background. The view just can't be beat. Also you can see Magic Kingdom fireworks as well as Illuminations.

Not to mention the entertainment you can see while chillin' in your room throughout the day or night. It can't be beat.

Twice we had rooms facing the court yard and loved it. Again, lots of time on the balcony. Also loved being close to the elevator. Crest o' the Wave is quite a hike but so worth the view.

This past trip we had a view of the Luna Park Pool and I can't tell you why but I hardly spent any time at all on the balcony. It just didn't interest me. Nothing to complain about, I just didn't find anything interesting to watch.

So in a nutshell, I LOVE A BOARDWALK VIEW!!!

Hmmmm...could be a "hazard" of the BW view...too much to look at, so not much sleep!!! ;)

Anyway...it's definitely a "hazard" I would LOVE to have!!

BTW...all you posters from Maine are making me SOOO jealous!! I'm in AZ where it is WAAAAAY too hot to mention. I'm thinkin' it's 70 and breezy...why do you need to go somewhere for vacation...it sounds amazing where you are!!!!

I've got a BW view studio lined up for November. Can't wait to check it out!:hyper:

We had a spectacular SV this last May, but have to try BW view to see for myself. This could be very detrimental to the wallet. What if I do this and then can't do without two things; Boardwalk view and 1 bedroom?

The stress of owning at the BW. Don't know if I'll hold up under the pressure!!

We were lucky to snag a Boardwalk view 1 bedroom at the 7 month window for July. It was the best view I've ever had at a WDW resort. We loved it so much, we're now in the process of an add-on at BWV so we can always book Boardwalk view 11 months out!!

I wish I could say. Sad to say that I only have a 'preferred' view for next week.:( Ah well, maybe next time.

We had a BW View last time, and it was nice, but I didn't think it was worth the fuss.

I'm not fond of the huge EPCOT over Spaceship Earth (a gigantic geodome wasn't distictive enough?) We found it to be a little noisy (we had a room right over the Screen Door - lots of traffic - especially when we were putting kids to bed).

"Snag" is the appropriate term here. When you book at BWV, you choose between "standard" and "preferred." The latter includes not just the BW view but also rooms overlooking the pool and even canals (there is no separate "BW view" category; frankly, if Disney were completely honest about this, they'd re-name the BWV "preferred" category to the "all-we-guarantee-is-that-you'll-get-a-view-of-some-sort-of-water.")

Bottom line: since the BW view is a request, it's not guaranteed, so anyone requesting it should be realistic (cross your fingers, but understand you may end up disappointed). All our points are at BWV, and we always make our request for a BW view room 11 months out on a day-by-day basis, but unfortunately even that doesn't always guarantee you'll get the view.

You can now absolutely guarantee the the Boardwalk view. It's been that way for about a year now.

a gentle FYI ~ there now are 3 views: standard, preferred (pool, etc), and BW.

BW view is incredible ~ one of those things you MUST try at least once in a lifetime (do try to get up early to watch the *world* awaken ~ it's like watching a movie go from black & white to glorious color..........)

That's incorrect. DVC changed the room categories for booking last September I believe. There are now three booking categories at BWV. Standard, Preferred garden/water view and Preferred Boardwalk View. They are now able to guarantee a Boardwalk view, there is no more chance anymore. My confirmation stated that I had a guaranteed Boardwalk view, and I did receive it. It is my understanding that due to many complaints by Boardwalk members that they were unable to get a Boardwalk view, they devised a separate category for it. The Preferred water/garden view and Preferred Boardwalk view cost the same number of points. You do specifically have to ask to book the Boardwalk view.
