We are taking our first visit to Boardwalk Villas. We have a preferred view two bedroom reserved. (only becasue there were no standard views, other wise I would have liked to save the extra points!) Just wondering if there are any BAD views? Not that it really makes a difference to us, we are in Disney for good ness sake....nothing will keep us from having a good time! We have stayed at both WLV and OKW, and always had wonderful views.
Just wondering.......

I don't happen to like the main pool view - but I LOVED the BW view - the one and only time we got it - I stick with the standard views now. If I can't get a standard view I go to another DVC resorts - then it doesn't hurt so much.

We had a preferred view of the Swan, Dolphin and canal last week. It was great. We could see the finale of Fantasmic every night. We were supposed to have a standard view but 90% of those were blocked by the scaffolding. So we got rooms 4008 and 4010 which are 220 strides/yards away from the elevator (yes, I counted). (almost all the way to the end of that wing.) I guess you could say they were "bad" preferred views due to the walk, but we never really minded it.

I also had a bad experience with a Main Pool View. We were given a studio which did not have an open balcony. DW who is 5' had to stand on a chair to see over the concrete wall that surrounded our balcony. When I looked around the complex, not many balconies were built this way, but being Christmas, I didn't think that we had much of a chance at getting much better, so we stayed where we were.

We once had a room directly above the Wyland Gallery....you had to bend over to look under the arch which was right in front of the balcony in order to see Spaceship Earth. Definitely not worth the extra points!

We have only stayed once and we had the view of the resort enterance.I guess if you like spending a lot of time on your balcony this isn't the best of views. However, we did get a kick out of the valets running for the cars during an extreme downpour. You just knew the owner was going to be sitting in a wet seat.

You are evil!!! That is too funny...:teeth:

The boardwalk views are the best preferred views but the villas that overlook the quiet pool also have a very nice view. The view is of a very nice pool that is 99% of the time empty and also a view of the canal leading to MGM, the Friendship boats going by, ducks, flowers and the Community Hall and a fantastic hot tub are also right there. It is a very good location believe me, I have had villas located all over the BWV and this is definitely one of BWV hidden gems. Whenever I have a preferred view reserved and the boardwalk view (always my 1st choice) is not available I am very happy to take a quiet pool view villa.

I hate the hallway that has a view of the Swan, Dolphin, and the back of the red building that I think is administration for DVC. In order to see the canal, you have to lean over your balcony. It's especially bad on the second floor because you overlook the roof of the red building and their dumpster. It's the only time I ever insisted on a different room--I didn't pay for a preferred dumpster view room! They grumbled but changed me to the quiet pool, and it was lovely!

Two years ago we had a quiet pool view. I really liked it. I enjoyed watching the boats go by. We looked directly at the Tower of Terror. It was quiet most of the time, but 2 nights there were load families down at the pool. But I would recommend this view.

Cruelladeville,
I'm with you. We arrived around 10pm at BWV a couple years ago and we got stuck with one of those rooms that has a great  view of that red building. Definitely not the best view. We've had a BW view before too and I have to admit that it is really not our favortie view either. We really like the view of the quiet pool. On our last trip to BWV we had a corner 1-bedroom that was a dedicated 1-bedroom. It had a fairly large balcony overlooking the quiet pool. We really liked that room.

For a standard view room 2123, 3123 and 4123 which overlook the entance/parking lot have extra large balconies and a great view of the Epcot fireworks at night.
Prefered view, I always enjoy the boardwalk/Epcot view. I love to people watch. Its fun to sit on the balcony at night and watch everything that is going on down below. We were over "Crest OWave" and loved it!

Cruella, or somebody, can you tell me what number/ halls the back-of-the-red-building-views are on? We're checking in about 9pm this Sunday night, YEAH! and have a standard view 1 BR - I guess from what I'm reading, we might get a preferred view. I'm imagining, though at that time there won't be much choice, but I'd at least like to know what to avoid. Tho we stayed in a studio for one night last Nov. this is our first real visit to BWV - so we don't know any of the inside scoop! We're not newbies to DVC (OKW '94) but new to staying at the Epcot area. We added on at BCV in Nov. but haven't had a chance to try it out yet....well, we could have this time, but the price difference btwn standard at BWV and BCV was enough to persuade us to wait. We'll check that out this Nov.

That would have been a standard view. If they charged you preferred points, you need to get those back!

We had that view, but we were fortunate enough to be on the 4th floor looking down on the red building's roof. It was great!

We had a standard view the times we've stayed there, and ended up overlooking the front entrance. I liked that view because it was interesting in the morning when I was out on the balcony with my cup of tea watching all the activity and in the evening it was really pretty with all the lights.
