But now this is a choice...not a restriction. What kind of options for international flights were even around in the 80's?
I just looked online, I tried to think of "middle of America" so I chose Lincoln Nebraska and decided to look at March 29th travel dates. You can fly from Lincoln to Paris for $573 per person and then fly back a week later for $641. $1214 per person round trip. Through AirBnB you can stay right in Paris for $52 dollars a night.
So not accounting for food or other entertainment, a couple can travel from Lincoln, Nebraska, stay in Paris for a week, and fly back for less than $3,000.
Listen, I was born in 1990, so I can only go by the data I can find online. I found an article that stated:
I'm not trying to convince you otherwise, I'm just trying to show why I have the position I do.
