Blue Sky Rumor: Ride coming to UK Pavilion?

You're missing my point. We weren't talking about families. We weren't even really talking about affordability, though today it is cheaper. We were talking about how the world has gotten smaller. We were talking about the feasibility for a person to take a trip to Europe today compared to the 1980s.

The sole fact that one can fly from Lincoln, NE to Paris shows that.

And I'm saying that for Joe Shmo in Lincoln, Nebraska, the world has not gotten smaller. He couldn't afford to fly his family to Paris in 1982, and he still can't in 2017. The World Showcase has the same impact on a first time visitor now as it did then.

Does it have the same impact on ME? Heck no. I've been to Paris - AND the World Showcase - multiple times. I'd like both of the places to update some!

That's correct, it does host YC convention events, but that's a tiny part of the overall usage, so no, that's not why it's there. It's the center piece of park event operations. I can't put a number on how many large events are held there every year, but it's many more than most people would think. The large park event operations department is based inside one of the attached buildings. Epcot catering which supplies food for catered events at DHS, Epcot and AK, including most of the festival food is housed there as well. I think because it's usually hidden by the large brown gates, it's the out of sight, out of mind thing.

So you're not saying to get rid of it. That would make me and many other people very sad.

Well...I'm not quite a hardliner on this...but I am gonna cut to it (change of pace).

I'm against all temp buildings being used in perpetuity because they weren't designed to be there.

And they have the odyssey if they need a base of operations...

And...and this is the big one: those festivals are part of Epcot's big problem...

They're using them as a shield as the park has rotten out from under them. Future world is embarassing...to be honest.

Having been to flower, food, and now arts recently in the last two years...there is no discernible difference.

Food and wine has been done...it has. Disneys focus should always be on providing top notch quality...and now it is not...we're getting close to 6 months of temporary festivals and that is tacky.

I'll defend Epcot to the wall: it's the greatest amusement park ever conceived and is a masterful design and build...breathtaking.

It should be revered, not exploited...even if the theme/focus has to change.

Not wine booths at all times and princess overlays. Tacky.

Yeah and that's not even the lowest price. For someone with plenty of time to plan and looking at the best prices, you can do better. For example, I found STL to Dublin for under $800 a person, non stop in late October. That's round trip, you can do even better with multi city. Rental apartments and air bnb, like you said, can keep other costs low to compensate for higher travel costs and issues with exchange rate.

I have little faith that's coming...when iger took over, he sat on his hands for years in the parks...

He's not long for the road...and I don't think another major capex in Florida is coming on this watch.

At least there you can sit down in there. We watch Impressions de France at least once a trip since we learned there are seats.

He suggests than an IP and non-IP based theme has been discussed. Expected to be announced with or after Rat ride, but would open before.

I've never really considered Gran Fiesta Tour a complement to Maelstrom/Frozen. I'm not even sure most people who go to EPCOT know it is there. But I confess it never fails to make me laugh. It's a really awful tourist advertisement for Mexico, and that was before the 3 Amigos made it into almost a parody of Mexico.

But then you have Spirit (WDW1974) saying not to get your hopes up about Epcot. The whole Epcot think is really wait and see at the moment. So much can and will happen within the Disney company.

They can add countless rides, will not even be close to F&W and F&G. Those are far superior entertainment for our group anyway.

If you extended food and wine all year...it would become mundane, boring, and almost useless.

Main line attractions shouldn't become that.

I am personally opposed to any rides in WS. I like slow strolling through WS with a beer. If they added rides to all the pavilions WS would be too crowded. I like keeping the ride crowd on the north end of Epcot.

Yes and no, rides will definitely draw people but they also help spread out crowds. World Showcase isn't exactly not crowded during festivals either.

I guess my point is there are enough people in WS as it is.

At least the Soarin building is painted to try and blend in with the sky. The swan and dolphin stick out like a sore thumb.

I love seeing them all around property, like from EE. They're my favorite though. I'm a Swolphin lover club of 1 I think.

I thought it was super cool as a kid when my folks first pointed out we could see our hotel. I still do. The Swan was the first hotel we ever stayed in that wasn't the CR. They're my favorites and still have some of the childlike magic.

And sorry to be off topic, but I hope they enhance the rides in FW and add additional pavilions over rides in the WS, but anything new at my beloved Epcot is great by me!

Again, they can add countless rides-fine with me. Its just not going to pass up beer wine and food from around the world for us.

I feel like I'm in the minority where I want rides in the countries. Doesn't have to be IP based to please me
