BLT Worries

Just got back from BLT. The location is great besides that it aint much the furniture is crap, the decor is hideous, and the pool isnt much. Glad I paid $60 per point at SSR and have been staying at all the other resorts.:lmao:

We bought at BLT and will have our first stay in a 2B in Dec. After such a wonderful stay in Sept at BCV, I had myself wondering if we would like it as much as BCV. Advantages of owning at BLT is 11 month booking at busy times such as Christmas and great views and location. Each resort has something special to offer. We hope to plan our next trip at VWL just so we can sample a little of everything.

BLT is more of a condo feel since it is a high rise and is alot different than the other resorts which are only a few floors up. Each one does have a little something different.

My philosphy is to stay some where different each time and even try to hit up some of the other resorts like the Polynesian. Write down what you like and dislike about each one... always great to report back to the board your thoughts.

In the end the most important item which it comes down to is--- money.

BLT has the lowest dues because of the less amount of property needed because it is a high rise.

If you do have to rent your points, normally you can get a premium since you can book at BLT.

I bought at BLT sight unseen a few months ago on the recommendation of a friend. And now that I'm reading all these forums, I'm worried I made a huge mistake! It seems like so many people are unhappy as BLT owners, and it's made my excitement over being a DVC member fade quite a bit.

Right now, I've got a tentative trip planned for BLT in February (room reserved, but that's it), but am using my points at SSR and BCV before the end of this year. Someone convince me that I made the right choice buying at BLT! I so want to love it!

I have stayed there twice and have voiced my complaints here and with DVC member satisfaction and with that said, I love BLT.

I think it is just an incredible place, and can't wait to get back there next year!

Buying a interest in the DVC is not something that one should enter into sight unseen. The only way to see if the shoe fits is to try it on and believe me we have learned the hard way.

Of the 5 resorts that we own, BLT is our least favorite, but that is OUR opinion. As a family of adults, we spend less time at the MK and more time at the resorts and other parks, (we avoid excessive crowds when possible). The proximity of BLT to the MK is must for some, but not for us.

The biggest issue with BLT is the quality of construction and poor planning on Disney's part. I expect the "low" dues to adjust accordingly and the TOTW to go away as soon as sales are completed.

You can read, listen, and take it all in, but it is really up to you.
Remember, yes it is you home resort, because you are a DVC member, you have teh flexablity to use any of the resorts!!!
One great thing about BLT is..."LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!"

I have been there to visit, and will be staying there for the first time @ our home resort in 7 days!!!

Hope this helps...

After I bought at BLT I felt the same way, but after a stay last Christmas I absolutely loved it. You can't beat the location. We have stayed at the Poly, and WL and my BLT is my kids favorite.
Watching Wishes from our balcony avoiding the crowds, being able to get fast passes and walk back and forth to park is priceless.

I'm not reading all four pages...just getting right to my point. I bought 50 pts at BLT at a Boston DVC event. I had watched the bldg being build during my many trips to WDW...but hadn't seen any rooms first hand.
So, figured 50 pts would be nice...I could stay there every other year.
Well...we stayed there in August, MK view studio. We attended a DVC event at the ToTW lounge. I so badly wanted to add another contract....I did do the paperwork for an addtl 50 pts, but had to forget about it once we got home...college is coming up for dd and it just didn't make sense right now.

I would buy more points there in a heartbeat. Loved it. Is it perfect? No, but no DVC resort is. I own more points at BWV and love it there, but I have to tell you...I sure do wish I had more BLT points as well.

Don't sweat the boards here. We bought at BLT at the beginning of this year and stayed there this summer. We had a fantastic time and love the resort. Did the room show some wear and tear, yes, but remember what this is in essence, a hotel. The decor is very modern and that is not everyone's cup of tea. I don't know about you, but I never spend too much time in my room when I go to see the mouse. So it baffles me that so many people fret about room decor and scratches on tables.

I get the whole big purchase thinking and worrying about the value of an investment. But to let scratches, stains or decor adversely affect your vacation is completely foreign to me. Would I like people to show a little respect and take better care of MY investment? Absolutely, but in the grand scheme of things, I think I own a doorknob or two outright.

Get there, see for yourself and enjoy your new purchase. Let the curmudgins complain about the scratches, stains and decor. Mickey's waiting for you!!! Enjoy! Cheers!!!:mickeyjum:mickeyjum

we bought in Feb 2009 and stayed in Sept that same year in a 2BR and loved it! We are booked to return next year and I cannot wait :)

I am one of those people who bought into BLT sight-unseen. The closest I got to seeing the place was while it was under construction in 2008 and we rode the monorail to the Contemporary. In the Spring, I added on a small 50 point contract and hope to have an owner's stay every third year. The rest of the time, if we want to spend some time at BLT, I'll try to switch in at 7 months. I have a DS5 and MK is and will be our favorite park for several years yet.

To the OP, just go an enjoy your trip. Don't worry about what people say on these boards. Everyone has an opinion based on their own needs and you can only take their advice as such. After you spend some time there, you can make the decision for yourself.
