Welllll what can I say? When we got to my mother's she wanted to feed us lunch and of course had Doritos 3D and cookies! I held off on the cookies but during the course of the day just about finished off the bag of Doritos. Yup, mom brought them to the waiting room.
We never had dinner (we were in the CCU waiting room 430-730 and intermittently through the day) so on the way back home I ate cookies that my mother had packed for our car. Its easier just taking what she gives us than to say no.

I made it through the stress of the day and today I will begin again.

Hey.. I understand.. when my daughter had a big surgery a while back, my oldest daughter and I ate our way through the hospital cafeteria..........we ate every cookie, salty, whatever we could.. so I understand stress eating.. Glad you got through the day.. :)

Hang in there! Just keep doing the best you can. One day is not going to throw you off! :) You can do it!!!!!!!

(((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

Doritos are my favorite, so I can certainly understand that! Hang in there, it was only one mishap and stress can do things like that! Don't worry, tomorrow is another day!! Hugs!

I take it that the bypass surgery went well? How is your brother today?

First of all, Barb, I'm a stress eater too. You should have seen me the day of my husband's heart attack, it was even worse the day of his quadruple bypass. I finally managed to settle down and actually leave some of the cookies in the cafeteria the day they took him off the ventilator. I know exactly what you went through.

Secondly, all of that off plan eating you did happened in the past. You know we don't concern ourselves with the past, right? We can't go back and change it so what good does it do to stress ourselves even more by feeling guilty about it?

We concern ourselves with right now because right now we can do something. Sounds to me that you have right now pretty well under control.

What a great attitude you have--you are back in control and back on plan. I'm proud of you--that is the secret to success and you already know all about it :)

You didn't do any permanent damage--the salt on those Doritos might result in a visit from the bloat fairy but that will go away.

Now, all you have to work on is taking the treats your mother provides, putting them in the car and not eating them. Or was she in the car with you?

I'm happy to see you have a good attitude abut it and that you are starting again. Hope everything went well!

Hi - they took my brother off the ventilator this morn. They will be weaning him off the heart pump. Things are looking brighter.

I'm so glad to hear it, Barb. He will be home from the hospital soon, I'll bet.

Hang in there.

You've been through a lot lately so I wouldn't worry about the weight right now! I'm glad things seem to be looking up! :D

So glad to hear things are looking up - I'll keep you in my prayers.

As fora "bad day" remember that they will always happen, the staying healthy part is that those days of eating Doritos and Cookies for meals are over- not that you can never have one again! Special cheers to you for being ready to start back up!

I have spent many, many hours waiting in the hospital for my Mom who had 2 open heart surgeries, and my sister who had a mastectomy and many cancer treatments.
The secret to my success while on Atkins was sunflower seeds. The kind you have to shell. They keep you really busy while your waiting. I used to eat them for hours, even for breakfast. I got the unsalted ones at the health food store.
