Blackrock Revisited - An Update

By the way, if you decide read this entire post and Doc's original post (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=809070&page=1&pp=15) you'll see that his primary complaint was that he booked 10.5 mos ahead, requested "upper floor" in one of 8 specific buildings, and instead received a ground floor unit in another building.

Actually, my complaint is that this same thing has happened to me twice since last September at the same resort with the same requests.

My concern is only that members are made aware by DVC what policy is being used so they may make their plans based on that policy. I don't really care what system is used, I just want to know what it is.

In the past, DVC stated that requests weer considered by the order in which they were received. If "room ready" is used properly, that prior system can still be valid. However, if it's being used to allow those who arriver early the opportunity to make requests when at the desk and decline a room offered, then I just want to know that's the way DVC wants the system to work so I can use that to base my arrival plans.

If "room ready" is the policy du jour, then lets explain exactly how it's supposed to work and be consistent at every DVC resort and by every CM. My understanding is that "room ready" means that if you arrive early, you can get a room that's already prepared. Otherwise, wait until "after 4:00pm" like the stated check-in policy. I don't see that it replaces the previous policy at all, but my recent experience(s) suggest otherwise. If it means something else, just provide the description of how it works and I'll be happy.

If requests are now a meaningless exercise, then MS should just decline to accept them. I truly don't care what reservation system is used, I just want to know how to use whatever policy is used.
