Ok starting to get more and more excited about BF! It looks like we may be building a new house and will be in the process of that by that time so I'll have an excuse to buy even more! :rotfl:

I've sent DH a couple of posts to read hoping he'll take the hint for my Christmas list! :santa: Probably not so much though...hopefully he doesn't read the entire thread and figure out what I'm looking for to give him!

I'm hoping for a good deal on Cricut carts-I got the cricut last year cheap thanks to Thanksgiving Day or BF sales. Also would love a digital picture frame for myself and the grandparents. We're driving (unless we find a great deal on plane tickets!) to MI so the smaller the better for us! More memory cards for the cameras are good as well!

If we commit to building a house, I'll have to get a new tv to hang over my new fireplace (they don't give you a real tv-just the cardboard type!):rotfl2: I'd also like to "upgrade" (I think) to the blue ray things for home. The van had a dvd player in it so we can't get rid of that for the kiddos. I'll have to ask DH about more info on that one.

Still thinking I'm going to *TRY* to get our family a Wii and Wii fit stuff for Christmas. That will be the gift Santa leaves at our house for us so we'll have something to open when we get back. :thumbsup2

I really need to sit down and figure out what I still need. I've done pretty well from Target's toy sale and Ebay really...We also moved to a new city right after Christmas last year so there's not as many places to shop around here...have to do more on line.

Keep the deals coming!

Can you play Nintendo DS games on the Gameboy Advance?

The DS games do not work in the Gameboy. The gameboy games do work in the DS but you won't be using the dual screens when you play them.

Im so happy I found this thread! I LOVE BF!! For a couple days there, I thought my BF would be screwed because DH was gonna have to work. But someone he works with told him he would work so DH can have Turkey day off, since DH missed the holidays last yr because of his deployment, which also means he gets that Friday, Sat and Sun off to! :thumbsup2 So BF is back on for me! What is everyone planning on getting this BF? Me, Im gonna be looking for on sale - blu-ray movies, the new ipod nano 8gb, and wii and ps3 games for my DH and just regular DVD movies for the rest of my family. Im also hoping to find a surround sound system for our living room on sale. Something $200 or less and is at least 500 Watts. Im also gonna be getting Guitar Hero World Tour for the Wii for DH regardless if its on sale or not. Hopefully it will be.

We plan on hitting Best Buy first then over to the mall. BB opens at 5am that morning, so we decided we are gonna get there around 1am if the sales are really good. I've got a feeling that the video games, blu-rays and HD TV's are gonna be HUGE this BF. Especially with the whole 2009 Digital TV that's gonna be happening. People are gonna need to buy new TV's and they will probably throw in a blu-ray player deal type thing in with the HD TV's, which could lead blu-ray movies being on sale (crossing fingers!).

Was reading the following on my Home page this morning.............
What to expect for Black Friday
Black Friday Scorecard: 2008

Target
Status: Doing well, but still falling behind Walmart
What's likely to be on sale: Target will continue to draw in customers with low prices on apparel, DVDs (including TV box sets) as well as toys and videogames. The chain will have a few deals on electronics, but the bulk of their low-priced items will be on low-cost items for holiday shopping.
Prediction: Look for Target to go low as it senses wallets tightening even more in its core demographic.

Walmart
Status: Tough economic times are boom times for the discounter.
What's likely to be on sale: Everything. The retailer will be cutting prices early and often this season -- like announcing a $10 toy deal at the start of October -- to try to get the scoop on everyone and keep its #1 position. Expect laptops in the $299 range, popular video games for $10 and toys for practically nothing.
Prediction: Walmart will win in holiday sales, but extra-deep discounting will hurt the bottom line.

Toys R Us
Status: Facing a poor outlook in toy sales this fall
What's likely to be on sale: Young kid's toys and video games will dominate the ads this fall. Also look for Toys R Us to be pushing lead-free and U.S.-made toys. There will definitely be rock bottom prices to aim for consumer's shrinking disposable income.
Prediction: Many BOGO and B2G1 sales will bring in shoppers with young children at home who still expect Santa to shower them with presents.

Best Buy
Status: Even when the economy is doing poor, consumers still want their gadgets
What's likely to be on sale: HDTVs, laptops, picture frames and GPS. Expect to see extra long lines at Best Buy this year as many first-time Black Friday shoppers looking for new TVs in response to the digital switchover. Dan de Grandpre from Dealnews.com predicts that shoppers will find very aggressive pricing on laptops and Blu-Ray players as well as Insignia and Westinghouse HDTVs.
Prediction: Lines stretched around the block will bring in record sales for the electronics giant.

Circuit City
Status: Under new leadership, Circuit City will be counting on Black Friday to bring in a profitable quarter.
What's likely to be on sale: Home theater, games and cameras. Like Best Buy, Circuit City will be looking to lure in customers who are upgrading to their first HDTV. Don't be surprised if Circuit City also offers crazy deals for a quality 7.1 surround sound home theater in a box system below $200! Dan de Grandpre from Dealnews.com expects similar laptops deals as well as "wicked" HD TV deals from Circuit City.
Prediction: Circuit City may do well this year by being a one-stop Black Friday shop

Staples
Status: Weak in the last quarter as consumers restrict spending
What's likely to be on sale: Routers, memory of all kinds and software. Dan de Grandpre from Dealnews.com expects to see low prices on both digital picture frames and portable DVD due to the chain's numerous rebates.
Prediction: If the back-to-school drive is any indication, outrageous doorbusters will drive traffic and sales, but low prices may not help the financial outlook.

Sears
Status: Struggling the most (down 62% last quarter) and trying to stay out of bankruptcy.
What's likely to be on sale: Sears will offer alluring prices on clothing and their Craftsman line of tools to bring in shoppers early in the day. Expect in store sales to be complimented with several online only deals! And keep a watch out for competitive prices on big-ticket items and home electronics, which may end up besting Best Buy and Circuit City.
Prediction: With price guarantees and 0% financing Sears will be a busy store on Black Friday.

Amazon
Status: Riding high on digital sales and low prices Amazon is set up to offer great prices this Fall
What's likely to be on sale: Dan de Grandpre from Dealnews.com predicts that consumers will see amazing prices on home and garden items as well as tools and hardware. Due to moves Amazon took last year he wouldn't be surprised to see them beat other retailers prices in the days and weeks leading up to Black Friday.
Prediction: Amazon will use free or cheap shipping and discounts across the board to come out on top of online retailers this Black Friday.

I am thinking about asking dh for a laptop this year. I don't need anything spectacular, just something that I can use for the internet. Are the ones Walmart puts on sale on BF any good. I know they have this type of special every year, is it only in store or do they offer it online?
Last year I did alot of my BF shopping from home late Wedneday early Thanksgiving morning.

luvtogo12, thanks for posting all that info.

Do you think I will be able to get the same LAPTOPS online instead of standing in line??:confused3

IM from a Black Friday Buddy:

Day of Thanksgiving..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey girl,

I read this other message board a ton and i saw this and thought about you

I was just thinking about this for some reason and thought i'd share with you all. I worked at wm for more than a decade, in the office that manages pricing no less. For those of you that don't know...the items on the "blitz" ads actually come in (most all of them anyway) at that price, so even after 12pm (or when it's scheduled to end) the prices are still the same as they were on sale. They don't want to hang onto the extra merchandise! I know this is early, but I'm sure many of you shop that day for the sales. have a great day!!

KB Toys matches Walmart's toy price cuts for Black Friday

Let the Black Friday price wars begin! On the heels of Walmart's announcement that it is slashing prices on toys for the holidays, KB Toys is also cutting back prices. The chain says it will be offering two hundred toys at a reduced price of $10 or less -- Walmart is so far only offering a selection of popular toys at that price -- and cutting prices on hundreds of more items throughout stores.

The new sale extends the chain's "Super Value Program," which offers discounts on selected toys each week. Low-priced items include: Fisher-Price preschool toys for $10, Hot Wheels sets for $10, board games like Yatzee for $8, Crayol craft kits for $7, Polly Packet playsets for $5, NFL action figures for $5, and Beanie Babies for $5.

I cannot wait for BF! I'm getting very excited now! :cool1: :yay:

Took my boys to Target yesterday and got the Wii and Wii Fit for DH/Family gift. They're officially done for "gifts". I still have to do stockings for them and something small that Santa can take to MI for us. I hope there will be some good deals on games and such for the boys to play with their new toy! :rolleyes1

I cannot wait until the ads start coming out and I can start making plans as to what to get! I started our "wish list" yesterday since I was cleaning things out and had a better idea of things we *needed*. Secretly, I'm hoping for gift cards since we'll be traveling during the holidays and those are easier to bring home! :rotfl:

Alright..I'm not a patient person. Bring on the ads!!!! The only stores that I have close enough to me to fuss with are WM, Target and BB. We've got two outlet malls about 10 minutes away and if they're open at midnight like they were in MI, I'll hit those, then to WM for the deals, then over to Target unless I can get some good deals on line before BF.

got an e-mail from the gottadeal BF websight and said the next ad will prob. show up in the next 5-10 days. Hope so I enjoy seeing what every one has.

Once again Walmart's leagal team won't let them post until Nov. 24 (4 days before BF)

FROM ANOTHER SITE:

I just talked to the lady who makes the Meijers ad and she said it is already done (digitally) and that all she has to do is send it to the printers in an email, which won't be done for three weeks. She also said that as soon at it gets to the printers, it is leaked. So it looks like we'll be getting the Meijers ad around October 19.

Can't wait to see the ads!

I'm not the kind who goes out on BF and shops, but I love to shop online that day (and Thanksgiving) and I read that there will be lots of online deals this year.

I'm looking for a Heart Rate monitor, Playstation 3 games, DVDs, and possibly a Blu-Ray Player

I'm so ready for some ads to start coming in....I want to start planning and saving more money if needed!

Do you think I will be able to get the same LAPTOPS advertised at BB and CC online instead of standing in the lines?

Do you think I will be able to get the same LAPTOPS advertised at BB and CC online instead of standing in the lines?

I'm hoping for that, too. Both of my kids want laptops as their big gift from Santa. I'm hoping for the $199 ones this year. They will be 9 and 11, so I don't need anything fancy. We are expecting a new baby in May, and we found out this morning we may have a chance to buy our "dream" house soon (dh's aunt died, and her daughters told us that if their brother doesn't want the house, they want to sell to us!). So we really don't need to tie up too much money!
