Black friday buddies 2010 unite! BACK FROM THE TRENCHES POST YOUR WAR STORIES!

If there are, you may be able to do it straight from your computer (think: "Cyber Monday"), since Kindles are exclusive to Amazon.com (and also sold in Target stores, and at Target's own website).

Keep a check on Best Buy, I hear they are supposed to start selling the Kindle as well.

Does Apple have BF sales? For all those looking for Ipod 8gb I purchased a laptop and got a free ipod 8gb I am not sure what I am going to do with mine, but I am sure there are alot of college kids that got one free that are trying to sell theirs for extra money so you might look on craigslist. :) I would love to know what Apple usually does for BF, I may go ahead and purchase a refurbished one now if they don't have great deals.

The online stores does.

I'm hoping for some sort of Xbox 360 bundle. Or maybe even a Target exclusive (I believe it's usually Target that has special editions on some of the other gaming consols correct?)

I may be the last person on earth without a GPS, so that's on my own personal list this year. Along with a Chamilla bracelet & charms. Just in case Santa's reading this :rolleyes1

I have no idea what to get DD9 this year. So hopefully something jumps out at me. Maybe a smaller flat screen TV. Her Disney Princess Combo set is getting pretty old. (If I recall that was a Dis special one year :thumbsup2)

subbing to thread

I am looking for a new tv for my bedroom and maybe one of those netflix streaming dvd players and a kindle and cheap dvds
I will be going alone this year :sad1: DS28 passed away and DS20 has girlfriend and will be at her parents in KY

Apple does have a Black Friday sale, but it's not on any of their ipods, iphones, etc.

We were able to get MS Office for Mac for $20 off. They have a few other software things on sale, but that's about it.

Well I'm going to be looking forward to finding a Netflix Blue Ray play. My aunt needs to stop buying soo many DVDs. She has a huge bookshelf that's full to the brim.

I saw the other topic about them going as low as 75$ this year. Which I figured about 80$, so they would beat out last year's 100$ mark.

Sep2010 13Black Friday is almost here and and after researching 2010's shopping trends and using our knowledge on the shopping holiday, we have come up with some predictions for November 26, 2010. Here, you can get a sneak peak into what items will go on sale, the expected prices of these items, and which retailers will feature the best discounts.

Televisions
HDTVs are always a popular product discounted on Black Friday. Stores like Best Buy, Amazon.com and Walmart will heavily discount plasma, LED and LCD HDTVs. The televisions that go on sale typically fall into 32" to 46" category, but you will see some reduced prices on 50" to 55" HDTVs as well. 2010 will feature some of the lowest prices ever on 32" LCD HDTVs, which will be available for around $199 and 19" models will be marketed for as low as $99. 42" LCD and plasma televisions are expected to be priced anywhere between $400 and $500 and 50" televisions will be marked down anywhere between $550 and $650. The cheaper televisions will most likely be 720p and not have as many features as the more expensive models.

Laptops and Computers
On Black Friday, computers are the must have item. Typically, the most popular laptops that go on sale have a 15.4" display, 2-4GB of memory, 250GB-320GB hard drive, and feature the latest processors from AMD or Intel. On the shopping holiday, we expect these laptops to be available for around $250 to $350 and the larger laptops, which feature a larger hard drive, bigger display, and more memory, will run as low as $450.

Making its mark on Black Friday 2010 are Internet tablets. Known as 2010's Tickle Me Elmo, these gadgets are expected to be the major product sold on Black Friday. The most desired item this year is the Apple iPad. While we do not expect this product to go on sale, we expect retailers to offer various bundles which combine a tablet PCs with gift cards and free accessories.

GPS Systems
Last year, GPS navigation systems were a hot item on Black Friday. Unfortunately for retailers, the demand for these gadgets has declined. In order to increase their appeal, stores will mark down prices on the latest models that include features such as free lifetime road map updates, traffic updates, and larger LCD screens. These newer models from brands including Garmin and TomTom will be available for $120 to $150. For consumers on a budget, we are expecting to see 3.5" models run as low as $40.

DVD Players and MP3 Players
In 2009, Blu-ray players and iPods were some of the most popular electronics sold on Black Friday. In 2010, you can expect even more savings on name brands such as Apple, Sony, Toshiba, and Samsung. Blu-ray players, stacked with the latest features, will be available for $70 to $80. Blu-ray movies are also expected to be reduced, with older titles being offered for about $5 and new releases being marked down to $10. With the release of the new Apple iPods, we are expecting them to be big sellers in 2010. Typically iPods are not available at discounted prices. But, in order to keep consumer interest, major stores will offer free iTunes gift certificates and accessories with the purchase of new models.

Digital Cameras
In previous years, digital cameras were the must have item on Black Friday. In 2010 there will continue to be a steady demand for new models. On November 26th, you will be able to purchase name brands such as Sony, Canon, and Kodak for as low as $75. Despite cameras being the must have items in previous years, the new craze this year is camcorders. HD-capable camcorders will be heavily discounted for the first time ever. Prices will vary depending on brand and features, but you can expect prices to fall between $80 and $120.

Video Games
With the release of new games and new console technology, video games are going to continue to be a popular stocking stuffer on Black Friday. For new games that are released in the fall, consumers can expect them to be bundled with free gift certificates and other promotions. Also, with both Microsoft and Sony are releasing new console technology, we expect the Microsoft Kinect and the Sony Playstation Move to be big sellers during Black Friday 2010.

Other
When you think of Black Friday most people automatically think of toys. The shopping holiday is the time to save on the season's must have toys and in 2010 you will save on Silly Bandz, Lego building sets, Zhu Zhu Pets, board games, and electronic toys. The best discounts will be seen at Walmart, Toys R Us, and Target and you can expect savings at up to 70% off the normal retail price. Holiday decor is another category that is heavily discounted on Black Friday. Although customers do not flock to stores to at 6am to purchase wrapping paper, if you are in the market for a new Christmas tree, outdoor lights, or holiday decorations, the day after Thanksgiving is the time to buy. Typically, after Christmas sales feature the lowest prices on these holiday items, but if you are in the market for a Christmas tree this holiday season, we suggest you purchase it on Black Friday.

Online Shopping
Black Friday online shopping has increased significantly in the last five years. In 2010, we predict online sales and doorbuster deals to explode. Major retailers such as Amazon.com, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy are expected to put their Black Friday specials online on Thanksgiving Day. Not only can you skip the lines and crowds, but you can purchase this season's must have items a day earlier. Plus, they will having early Black Friday sales where they offer items at prices just as good as what you'll find on the day after Thanksgiving. All of this combined is sure to make Black Friday 2010 one of the best yet.

I want to do this! What's This?
User-Submitted Article
You have heard the rumors, gift card givaways, appliances for $3.00...here are some tips for shopping Target on Black Friday after Thanksgiving sales.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
1
Nake a list of the items you want the most...you probably want to buy a Thanksgiving Day newspaper or check Target's web site for all the best doorbuster sales information. Divide your list into three parts: "Gotta Haves", "Would Really like to Have" and "Could do without".

2
Go a few days ahead of time to scope out the layout of the store. Keep in mind that the sale item might not be where it's supposed to be (e.i., it might be at the front of the store instead of electronics.) Ask a few employees, someone might know where the display will be for that item.

3
IF you live in a big city, you will probably want to get in line at 4:00am. The store opens at 5:00, and Black Friday sales have never been better!

4
If you want items in different parts of the store, bring a few friends. Exchange lists, that way everyone can shop in different departments for each other.

5
Keep a smile on your face. No amount savings

Google Tablet Rumored to Hit Shelves on Black Friday
by Niki_Fears on Aug 19th, 2010, 4:16 pm
In Google's apparent on-going quest to take over the entire (virtual) world, the latest rumors have the search giant making a major play for the tablet market on the biggest shopping day of the entire year.

If rumors are true, on the one day a year when apparently normal people turn into wild packs of crazed shoppers; a day which has been, fittingly, coined as Black Friday, Google may be planning to make a big splash with the release of a tablet that they hope will give the iPad a run for its money.

The blogosphere has been abuzz about the possibilities all day since the rumor first broke on DownloadSquad yesterday morning. It seems that the controversial partnership between Google and Verizon will make the deal happen with the hardware itself, reportedly, being built by HTC. The tablet will likely feature the Chrome operating system and not the Android as some at once speculated. This is most likely due to the fact that the status Google's Android OS may currently be in limbo as they deal with legal battles arising from an Oracle lawsuit which is but one of Google's current legal troubles.

While there are no confirmations as of yet from Google as to tech specifics, many of Google's features from their growing list of web apps are likely to be included according to early indications from when the project was first announced. The video below shows a conceptual mock up of what we could be seeing shortly.

If the rumors are true, the release date makes great sense to anyone who is retail minded; however, from a PR standpoint, flaunting the Google/Verizon partnership could backfire, at least in certain markets of geekdom where condemnation of both companies regarding their attempted destruction of net neutrality has been quite heavy. Further backlash could come from those who will see the writing on the wall that this new partnership would likely mean that iPad users will be saying so long to Verizon. If the new Google tablet can over come the PR hurdles it will be interesting to watch (from the safe distance of my beloved PC) how the technical aspects unfold to see if Google offers anything of real substance to warrant jumping ship to spite the growing (evil?) empire that has become Google.

Walmart announced that it will issue its Day After Thanksgiving circular (i.e., post its Black Friday sale) on Sunday, November 21. Walmart normally posts its Black Friday sale on the Monday before Thanksgiving. However, last year, Walmart itself leaked part of its Black Friday ad to CNN nine days before Black Friday.

Too many TVs, too few customers driving prices down
32-inch LCD sets expected to sell for as low as $199 at Black Friday sales.

An oversupply of LCD TV panels and weak demand have conspired to push prices down just in time for the holiday shopping season, electronics research firms say.

On Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, prices on 32-inch LCD sets will drop to an average between $249 and $299 and sell for as low as $199, CNNMoney reported.

On Friday, a 32-inch LG LCD set was priced at $399 at Best Buy.com and $408, plus shipping, on Amazon. The average price for a 32-inch LCD set in 2005 was $1,700, said Paul Gagnon, director of North American TV market research for research firm DisplaySearch.

Gagnon attributed the price drop to an overshipment of (TV) panels and soft demand in the U.S. for TV sets this year.

But prices on consumer electronics traditionally fall over time, cautioned Troy Hanson, owner of Hanson Audio Video, 3140 Far Hills Ave. The most dramatic price falls will be seen among smaller sets with older technology, Hanson said.

Scott Morris, a spokesman for the Best Buy electronics store chain, said, “It is true TV demand has been less than the industry has expected, which would lead you to the conclusion that there is some inventory building.”

Tips for shopping for toys on Black Friday

Black Friday is the day that you can often get the best deals on products from electronics to toys and just about everything inbetween. This makes it an attractive, if somewhat hectic day to get the Christmas shopping done. There are often exceptionally great deals on the latest toys for your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews or anyone else that you may want to buy toys for. There are a few rules that you may want to follow, however, if you want to get your shopping done with minimal injuries and trauma.

The first rule of shopping on Black Friday is to have a plan. Know what kinds of toys your children will enjoy the most, whether it's a toy vanity for your little 3 year old, or a toy corvette for your little boy to cruise the neighborhood in, know what they want ahead of time. After you have stuffed yourself with all the trimmings that inevitably accompany a Thanksgiving feast, sit down with a copy of the newspaper. I do mean the one that is so stuffed with ads that you're lucky to find a sentence with any news. Find the best deals on the things you want to buy and where they are. If they are at more than one store, try to find locations where the stores you want to go to are in close proximity to one another or pull in some assistance from other family members.

Now that you have your plan mapped out, and you know who is going where, don't forget to set your alarm for those early morning hours. Make sure that you go to bed early so that you can get up earlier. After a full Thanksgiving dinner, going to bed early is usually not a very tall order anyway. Make sure that you are at the store where they have the things you want the most first, as you may not be able to get everything you want if you get there too late. Get to the first store at least slightly before opening so that you can make sure that you are there when the doors open, but be careful not to trample anyone or get trampled yourself.

Once you are in the store, go straight to the things that you want to get, starting with the most important, as the best deals tend to run out quickly. Make your way quickly and quietly to to checkstand and get out of the store as soon as you can. This is not a time for browsing. If what you are buying is a popular item, make sure that you are not advertising that you have it, as this could turn into a safety issue. Go to the next store and do the same thing until your shopping is done. If any store is out of the item that you wanted, you may have to pay more for it later, but it is worth it for the sake of safety.

iPad debut at Target? Nice at the right price

The Apple iPad will make an appearance at the budget behemoth on Oct. 3, notably in time for Christmas shopping, according to the blog Engadget.

However, the price still appears to be $599.99, which seems strange for a well-known discount store like Target. The store could plan a major discount in the coming months, most likely just before or on Black Friday.

And, if so, it makes sense that Apple would launch such a strategy just as it’s about to unveil its newer iPad models--likely at a higher cost.

Apple has made the iPhone 4 available at Walmart, which it sells for $197, about $2 less than at the Apple Store. This shows that an iPad price drop wouldn't be an unusual move for Apple.

However, the price of the iPad would have to drop to $499 or less for a company to justify buying something with technology already on the wane. Such a discount--if employees are willing to brave the crowds and possible trampling--could prove attractive to small businesses, especially now that the iPad has surprised Apple and IT professionals by insinuating itself into the business world.

The handy tablet with its user-friendly, touchscreen interface and long battery life make it an enticing buy for sales professionals and anyone dealing with the public, as well as useful for back office inventory. Now with an iOS 4.2 upgrade, the iPad will be ready for everyday clerical use with filesharing, wireless printing, and multitasking.

Many are already anticipating the new, smaller iPad--which some hope will include FaceTime and front- and rear-facing cameras, which would be useful for office videoconferencing. Others hope for more than 256MB of memory and a slimmer, lighter design that would make it more competitive in the computer tablet market.

Not surprisingly, the Oct. 3 date also comes close to when Samsung will be rolling out its Galaxy Tab in Europe and the United States. The Galaxy Tab, labeled the first real iPad competition for Apple, is a slimmer, lighter design which offers everything the new iPad is rumored to have: a smaller 7-inch screen, front- and rear-facing cameras, 512 MB of memory, and Adobe Flash support--and all at only 0.84 pounds. It also has Android 2.2, with access to the apps on the Android Market.

With all its capabilities and rising use of the Android platform in business, Apple should see the Tab as a worthy competitor for the business market.

However, if Apple is planning to offer its newer iPads at that time, it would be an amazing, and top-secret, head-to-head marketing plan--which is why it’s more likely that Apple is merely trying to unload the older product at a lower price before it announces the newer model.

I could be wrong, but Apple has been so quiet about this future product launch, and rumors have said the newer, smaller iPad will likely be for sale next year, long after last-minute Christmas shopping. Still, whatever Apple’s plan, if Target can offer a decent discount on the $599.99 iPad, it’s worth a look by anyone thinking of using the tablet.

I am looking for a flip videao camera. My DH is looking for a blu ray player and Santa is looking for an Ipod. ANy help guys?

Hopefully, there will be good brands for those prices and not just the cheap lesser-quality brands.

Looking to finally purchase a Wii for the kids this year. Hope to find some good deals!!

You should check out gamestop (you can look at their website to see if there is a store near you). I purchased mine from there, I went the refurbished route and got it for $129!!

Hate to burst your bubble, but as Apple "price-fixes" all their computer hardware products (iPod, iPhone, etc.), I wouldn't expect any discounts at Target (or any other store, for that matter).

However, that doesn't mean that Target may add a "bonus" store gift card with such a purchase...

Hopefully, there will be good brands for those prices and not just the cheap lesser-quality brands.

Doubtful -- especially, if you're looking for Sony, Samsung, etc.

As with Black Fridays past, the truly big deals will be with those TVs manufactured by Funai (Magnavox, Sylvania, Westinghouse, along with some names we've never heard-of).
