Black Friday 2013 Thread?

I could be totally wrong but I've been under the impression that they are two different things. It's probably best to get clarification from the Service desk beforehand. I've googled and googled but can't seem to find a clear answer. It would be counter productive of them not to match a price under their regular policy though, that sends you out of their store and into someone else's.

Rather than doing a straight price match, the difference between their price and the ad price will be given to you in the form of a Walmart gift card. I hope you don't think I'm arguing because I'm really not, I just think we're interpreting things differently. I never thought the Christmas Ad match meant an additional gift card. From what I've seen and read this is for example: You buy an item for $6. Later during the time period for Christmas Ad Match, if you find it in Walmart or another store for $4, they'll give you a $2 gift card. I take the wording on the sign to mean that this promotion is excluded from Thanksgiving/Black Friday Deals. So you can't buy something on Wednesday then come in on Thanksgiving or Black Friday and ask for a gift card for the difference since it is now on sale. I have not been able to find anywhere that this is a change to their price matching policy other than that blog post after about a billion searches. Again, I could be 100% wrong and just am not using the right phrasing (though I am a master googler ) but when seeing the commercials and advertisements the Christmas Ad Match comes off as a promotion. The corporate website shows their price matching policy as it has always been. Which is why I've stated twice that people should hit up their local Walmarts and get clarification rather than assuming they will or they won't.

I think they also have a "Price Match" policy which allows you to match an item you are currently purchasing with a competitor's ad price. In this situation, they usually just make a price adjustment at the register. Correct?

From the blog, it's clear that they will not Ad Match prices for BF ads. However, it doesn't seem to say anything about Price Matching other BF ads on BF. Therefore, Walmart may still allow us to Price Match on BF. I am really hoping this is the case, but I suspect they will follow Target's lead and refuse to Price Match as well.

I called my local Wal-Mart today, to try to straighten out the confusion on the price matching. I spoke to the store manager, and he said that as of right now, they will still be price matching this Thanksgiving/Black Friday like they always do. SKU's must match, it has to be for the same hours as the sale you are showing the ad for, example 5-9 for TRU price matching. He said he had not heard anything about Wal-Mart not being able to price match this year. Now keep in mind that this is MY local store, please check your local store for confirmation.

Also, this is NOT the Christmas Ad Match on the signs and on the commercials. The REGULAR price match is valid year round, and the ad has to be presented at the time of purchase in order for the cashier to "re price" your item to match the ad. The Christmas Ad Match is a "seasonal promotion", where you can purchase an item, then in a certain amount of days if you see it cheaper somewhere else, you can take in your receipt and get the difference from what you paid, and the sale price, put on a gift card.

I hope this helps straighten out some of the confusion.

Now, I haven't seen the verbiage for Target but they recently changed for the holiday season adjusting prices for previously purchased items for longer than their normal 7 day policy. However, they will not do that for Thanksgiving/Black Friday. Again, *I* see that as the same thing as Walmart, two different things, kwim? They come out in the Thursday paper but sometimes the Sunday before...

It depends on the area. Around here the Chicago Tribune can show up anywhere between 6 and 7 or so. CVS opens at 7 on Thanksgiving with a bunch of specials and the newspaper guy usually shows up 10 to 15 minutes after the store opens. I subscribe to the paper, but I go out to get my daughter one since I'm up getting the turkey ready!

When I used to work the 6am-6pm shift I always worked Thanksgiving and in the morning I would stop get some caffeine and the newspaper at around 5am but that is in Phoenix, then I would quickly eat dinner and stay up all night and shop lol, then sleep the next day...

Several years ago when I worked at a book/magazine store they were dropped off out front in the wee hours, Sunday paper usually the night before so hopefully 4am will be just about right. A couple years ago I asked him to stop on his way home from night shift (5am, he works 12hr shifts) and they were already gone! It won't be a huge deal for me as all the big stores are catty corner from each other near me and I'm not looking for anything real popular but it would still be nice to have just in case.

The ads used to come in Thursday's paper, but since a lot of sales started on Thursday last year, we got our ads in the Wednesday paper. Hoping it's the same this year.

Ok so I have my carts full on the sites I want to order from on Black Friday. Just hope they do the ads for both online and in-store. I have 4 things from target, 2 from gamestop and 6 from Walmart (but Walmart cart isnt done cause cant find most of the stuff I want). Fingers crossed cause I dont want to leave my house on Thanksgiving at 2 in the afternoon but I will sit down at my computer at 6

I think that the online the times are usually different than the in store times.

Be careful about buying from Walmart online. The past 4 times I have ordered from them they have either sent me the wrong item or the right item but in the wrong size. When I have gone to return I always have the biggest hassle because the UPC numbers do not match what is in my packing slip. Walmart.com has the worst customer service EVER. I just no longer buy online from them. The VERY few things that I buy from Walmart I just pick up in a store.
