has anyone ever had this done with a colonoscopy

I set to have this done is 9 days I have every high anexity and panic attacks over this-Ive waited over 3 months just to get the app and then a few weeks ago it had to be pushed another week--the lsat one I had was a total diaster. The dr od'ed me on fentanal and I ended up after getting narcan to bring me out

so today I already get an estimate of charges and reading it over I see I getting Precedex which is usually used if you need to be intubated (I work in a pharmacy hospital)
Ive never heard for getting this before whit having a colonoscopy and on top of that I wasnt told this is what they were going to do
so now anexities are at an all time high

has anyone else heard of this for this type of procedure--Ive had 2 and this has not been done

I sure dont have a good feeling about this now not that I ever did
I do have a message to the dr to see why this is all happening but just wondering if anyone else ever heard of this

I never looked at my records but I think people often get briefly intubated when under general anesthesia for safety reasons.

This is something you can ask about when you talk to the anesthesia department, or put in a note to your chart asking for an explanation from the Dr office. I'm sure someone needed to justify this to Insurance, they are very stingy and don;t just pay for stuff without a reason.

I imagine your Drs are taking all your concerns very seriously and are going to do their very best to move you through the procedure as safely and as comfortably as possible, covering every possible outcome imaginable and so they are working hard to make sure everything is on hand just in case.

There's a sublingual version of Precedex that they can use in non-intubated patients to perform this procedure.

I'm reading that it is an alternative to propofol and has a higher safety profile (respiratory issues) and is often a safer bet in patients with comorbities.

We’ll I already heard back from the dr office. She said there is nothing in my chart for the precdex or notes about this. Tomorrow I’ll have to call the billing to see why. I am getting propofol.
Last time I had the fentany versed Benadryl ..another med is simethacone drops Thst I’m getting charged for. According to the dos and donts is I need to add 2 teaspoons simethcone drops to the sludge water. But a l already got a bottle from work. We can get things for our own use from work so why is insurance charging me. Yet the one thing insurance didn’t cover was the sludge water jug. They charge me for the drops but not the stuff itself. I’ll get answers tomorrow
