First off...in choosing Bob or Jillian...I'd go Bob every time. For some reason when Jillian yells I just want to slug her...and I'm not what you would call a violent person. She just brings out my nasty side. Bob, well...I think he is kinda cute so when he yelled I'd be more likely to just suck it up and go.
HI....I'm soupy...35, recent PhD finisher (still waiting on examiners reports) should be Dr. Soupy by Christmas. I teach university, while trying to find a tenure track teaching job, which means LOTS of article writing, conference papers, continuing research, in amongst marking endless papers from students. I have high BP, and cholesteral(sp), and am insulin resistant (like several of the women here, I too have PCOS which makes shifting weight even harder). I take Avapro for BP, high dose lipitor AND niaspan for cholesteral, and metformin for the PCOS... side effects for most of these...weight gain.
Anyway, after getting lecturered by the cardiologist in June (I have an absolutely LOUSY family history for heart disease starting young) I signed up for the Princess 1/2 marathon next March, since a trip to Disney is one of the few things that would consistently motivate me to exercise. So far it is working, but I need to work on my diet more as I haven't lost any weight.
Actually, the marathon isn't my primary reason for needing to lose, hubby is over 40 and I just hit 35 and we would still like to try for a baby before I turn 37, after that we are afraid to try. SO....I want to lose minimum of 30 before the marathon (which would put me at 200) but would LOOOOOVE to lose closer to 60. My ultimate goal is 140-50....but I can try for a bub between 200 and 180 *woot!!*
Sorry for the long and rambling story....I'm just glad to be part of the team and hope I can actually LOSE something to help us out.
OH...yeah..what am I doing???
Exercise: MWF - weights and speed interval training (atm: run 1 minute, walk 2-3 or until heartrate hites 50% of max). Tues/Thurs: easier distance work (atm: 2mi. at 2.9-3.2mph), Saturday distance/roadwork: 3.14mi, easy for first mile, interval for second, easier for last mile
Food: Not sure yet. I usually do South Beach or Paleo combo, but money is so tight we can't afford all that meat. So, I've kinda been doing WW core...lots of good legumes (lentils, chickpeas, black beans), some lean meats and green veggies.
Okay..done for now!!
