For those of you who use Wii Fit- do you find it gives a good workout? We have a Wii, but not the Wii Fit yet and I am wondering how much you feel you get out of it? I am thinking that I could buy my bosu ball and more weights for the same money. I do like the tennis and boxing on the Wii, and play those when DH isn't watching something on TV!
Opinions appreciated. Christmas is coming, as is my birthday, so its not like I couldn't ask for it for either of those.
I love my Fit! I've had it for about two months now, and have yet to get bored with the games and exercises. I think it really helps to have someone else in the house also playing, as it keeps you motivated to try and beat their scores... but even without that, there is a lot that the Fit does to provide motivation. It has a lot of choices for aerobic exercise (Rhymic boxing is my favorite.. it combines the boxing with step aerobics), but I think I really get a lot out of the yoga poses and the strength exercises. Those type of exercises are the worst for me, and I have a terrible time convincing myself to do things like crunches and push ups, but it really helps how the Wii can track your progress and tell you if you're doing the exercises correctly... and its really hard not to do any strength exercises at all if there is a whole screen of them staring at you!
It does add some extra time to your exercise regimen, though, since there is a lot of transferring between screens and waiting while it shows you the high scores and things like that. I find it typically takes me about an hour to get in 45 minutes of exercise... but I think that varies on what you've chosen. And if you are exercising above a different room, you sometimes have to be careful that you aren't too loud with the stepping or the running.
I will have to check that out. I got into the Wii fit when it first came out and was pretty proud of myself. Then summer came and all the summer activities. I'm going to break it out again this week and try to tone up. I really felt good about myself after using and working my way up in the exercise repetitions. I always enjoyed the step exercises and could do that over and over.
I love the step exercises as well! I tend to alternate between that and the rhythm boxing for my aerobic portion. If I'm really motivated, I'll add in some running.. but as I've always hated running, that takes a lot of convincing!
The Outdoor Adventure is a lot more games, but they keep you moving the whole time... and MANY of them require running in place... and they really want you to move quickly to get the higher scores! I've found its really loud for the people below me though, so I have to limit how much I'm doing the running and jumping stuff much more than with the Fit.
I'm very interested in hearing more about this game! Is it new, or just under the radar? I haven't heard of it, and it sound right up my alley!
Its actually pretty new-- I think it came out on September 9th? I was wondering through Target and happened to notice it. Nintendo says that its the first in a series of the "Active life" games, so hopefully they'll be coming out with more of them.
It comes with a floor mat that has a bunch of symbols on it.. kind of like those dancing games at the arcade... and its able to be played by a single player or two platers at a time. They have a lot of different game choices, such as log jumping, mole stomping, roller skating, kayaking, and hurdling. Most of the games require you to run and then jump at the right moment to either squish the moles or avoid the hurdles or things like that. Its A LOT of running, and can be a bit loud because of the jumping, but so far, its been a lot of fun!
