Bl 7.1 purple team!!!!!

QOTD Saturday: What are your weekend plans?
I'm driving DD15 to a vocal lesson later this morning, I've already finished taxes for DMother and DD23 today. I'll do a bit of grocery shopping, some cleaning, and school work-lots of school work. It's a good thing that I love  my job! No Amazing Race tomorrow. I'm so sad! :( Maybe I should check out my spring clothes. Nah, they're calling for snow on Monday and Tuesday. :cold:

Welcome to the new members. And congratulations to all you losers this week. WEIGH to go! We're going to have our job cut out for us if we plan on mowing down the green team. TEAM! Let's go! Get those weigh-ins in! We can do it!

Woo-Hoo I'm in! Hi everyone I'm Tim and excited to be a part of team purple. I'll be working hard and hopefully having fun. I just need to find out what COW stands for. Have a great week!

Hello Purple Team! GREEN TEAM member here popping in to say "hello" and thanks to CorinnaK for helping with the logo. Good luck to you all -- I know we are all going to do a great job!

Happy Saturday everybody!

:welcome: to our new members! COW = Challenge Of the Week. Its another tool to help stay on track. I don't know how to paste a link but back on pg 5 of this thread in post #74 is the explanation of how it works.

QOTD: my plans for this weekend are:
-2 hours at the swimming pool this morning with my DD's
- a nap this afternoon
- tidy the house for games night
- enjoy a game of Arkham Horror tonight with another couple
Sunday will be :laundy:, pay bills and do taxes, and hopefully some school work.

I'm a little late, but I did end up with a loss of 1.8! Really excited, since Thurs. and Fri. were big duds. I'm rededicating myself to getting it all right this week, not doing extra early in the week, doing what I plan each day. That's where my downfall is, I push too hard and then I burn out.

It sounds like we mostly had losses this week. I can feel the Purple Team momentum building!

Let's Go Team! :cheer2:

Good Evening, Purple People!

I got out this morning and ran a very nice little 5K. :) It was a nice local event, I would say something around 100 runners and walkers for the 5K and 2.5K, which started together. They gave special recognition to people who had lost over 20 pounds by giving us the lowest numbers. I was #19, which was pretty cool! There were some people there with incredible losses, people running or walking on 100% knee replacements, and a man that was running with a pacemaker.

I started off really well and thought I was on track for a possible PR, however, sometimes things line up just right and sometimes things go a little bit wrong. This was one of those little bit wrong mornings. It wasn't a big thing, but the velcro strap on my sports bra apparently wasn't attached very well. I have been frustrated with the design on the Moving Comfort Fiona - sometimes this velcro strap adjustment chafes and sometimes it just....gives up! That happened today and I had to stop and fix it. And then I had to fix it again almost immediately. I don't know how much time I lost, but I saw all the people I had just carefully passed go rushing by me. I jumped back in and passed 3 or 4, but couldn't make up that much time over the next 2 miles. I had a nice run, though. Had to work pretty hard to pass the gentleman who was running with a pacemaker - he really fought me for it all the way up the little hill, though we had a congenial chat about the flatness of the course. I ran pretty hard, but I knew before the 3rd mile that I wasn't going to be able to get a sub-30 this morning. I haven't been running outside lately so I didn't have a good idea of what my pace might be tdaoy. I was happy enough to finish at 32:47, and really enjoyed that they announced everyone's names as we crossed the finish line. I didn't really enjoy that they said I was "35 years young!" They had whole oranges and apples and hot chocolate and fruit bars and coffee. I was so hot after I finished, I actually took off my jacket. Before long, though, I was cold - the weather was 36º as I was driving to the event - and I wanted both my running jacket, and regular jacket, and the hot cocoa sounded really good! I stuck around the finish area until the last finisher crossed. It was a trio of women who had each lost a large amount of weight, so that was pretty cool!

QOTD: Other plans for the weekend include working on the set for an upcoming show, dinner out and more working on the set tomorrow afternoon! I am dragging just a little already, though...

Maria - congratulations on your loss this week! 1.8 is GREAT!

Happy Saturday evening everyone!

My plans for the weekend? Well, we were originally going to have a family birthday party for my 5 year old, but then my son came down with strep, so only her God Mother came over this afternoon. I went for a walk with my husband and now am going to be giving my 20 month old a bath. Tomorrow is suppose to be a snowy, possibly icy day-so I probably won't be doing too much except hanging out at home with my husband and kids. Oh also we plan to watch Survivor tonite. We taped it Thurs., but haven't watched it yet.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Vicki

I hope everybody had a wonderful Saturday. I stayed home and worked on my Master's thesis and cleaning my apartment. I'm super bummed because we are getting a hard freeze tomorrow night. Our spring break starts on Wednesday and we're supposed to get snow and really cold temps this week. :( I'm super excited for break though. Even though I have several medical appointments (still trying to figure out my abdominal issues/diabetes issues) I'm ready to have fun. My boyfriend and I are talking about going to Six Flags and seeing Phantom of the Opera. I'm just waiting to hear whether he has to work.

Sunday QOTD: Are you celebrating Easter?

Happy Palm Sunday!

Sunday QOTD: Are you celebrating Easter?

Of course! DD and I are heading to a different church today for Palm Sunday because it is "Rainbow Sunday" (she is in Rainbow Girls). Not sure where we will go next Sunday for church. We are kind of looking around possibly for a new church.

ANYHOW, yes, we celebrate Easter. We usually have Easter Saturday with my family in MA (usually at my Mom's or my cousin's house) and then Easter Sunday with my in-laws, also in MA (usually at my SIL's house). But this year I have offered to host, so Easter Saturday will be here..... not sure yet about Easter Sunday. We usually do a big dinner and egg hunt on both days. (We started the two day tradition years ago because it was getting hard to decide whose family to visit on holidays. Fortunately my family was good with this idea and we have done it for about 14 years now. My family also does a Friday Thanksgiving so that we can be with in-laws on Thursday. Glad my family is so accomodating!!)

When I was a kid I LOVED the Easter traditions of a Good Friday service and an Easter morning sunrise service. I can remember FREEZING in my Easter dress at the crack of dawn on Easter morning. I love the traditional Easter hymns, even more than Christmas hymns. I am glad we get a chance to go to a more traditional church on Easter Sunday (we either go with my parents or with MIL), because my regular church doesn't play what I consider hymns. They usually lean towards Christian light rock, which I like a lot, but I really miss the traditional songs on holidays.

Well.... once again I have taken your innocent question and RUN with it. I am really just avoiding reality.... I need to get moving if I expect to get in 40 minutes of exercise before I shower for church and I SO don't feel like visiting with Ms. Jillian Michaels today!...................P

I am SUPER impressed. I'm not sure exactly how far 5K is, but I'm SURE I couldn't do it in the time you did! And I DON'T run in public.... only at home so my humiliation is only witnessed by my family! Anyhow, great job!.....P

Good Morning Team!

My weekend plans were to lay in bed and read. My body doesn't seem to have gotten the memo, because I just can't be still. I did 6 mi on the TM yesterday, and I plan to do another 6 today. I have slowed down my pace, and that seems to have solved the problem I was having with my knees being sore.

I went to Target yesterday and almost finished shopping for ds's Easter basket. Today I don't plan to leave the house. Yes, I'm feeling guilty because it's Palm Sunday and we're not going to church. We went the last 10 weeks in a row since I was teaching Sunday School, and dh is going to revolt if he doesn't get a break. I won't bend on going to Good Friday and Easter Services, so I compromised on Palm Sunday.

We are indeed celebrating Easter! After church we will come up and celebrate with our non-traditional meal. I'm the only one who likes ham, so we make homemade pizza! We also have homemade ice cream cake, since ds gives up ice cream for Lent.

Pjlla -- I know how far 5K is, and trust me Corinna is a rock star! We do the opposite of what you do -- DH's family is in Seacoast NH. Mine is in MO, so we don't really travel there much. I am very familiar with the Hampton tolls -- but I bet you get to skip them, lucky you! :goodvibes

Corinna -- What impresses me the most is that you stayed around until the last finishers crossed. You are so supportive, and in that cold weather! :thumbsup2

Vicki -- So sorry snow and ice are predicted! That's just wrong in April! Hang in there, and best wishes for a quick recovery for ds! :wizard:

LuvBaloo -- I'm with you with doing :laundy: today. I do one load every day, but I always seem to have a few to catch up on the weekends. I don't know how three people manage to dirty so much? :confused3

Eeyore's Butterfly -- Thank you for all your hard work captaining and getting us in line! ::yes::

I'm sorry I can't reply to everyone right now, I gotta get that 6 mi workin' if it's gonna happen! Everyone have a fantastic day, and let's get ready for another awesome losing week!

Maria :upsidedow

I feel bad, I haven't been able to keep up with this thread the way I normally like too. I guess it is because I am busy exercising, and getting projects done. So it is good that I am busy, staying away fron snacking, but yet, I wish I had more time to devote to our thread and support you guys more. Hmmm, hard to balance time.

Today DH and I went to the gym together. He went only for me, I made him go to get the fitness eval on Friday so he could work out with me on weekends. I hope he eventually likes to do it. He is only doing it to support me, and I love him for it! I have till May 1st for his work's biggest loser comp. so I told him, just 3 more weekends! We'll see if I can talk him into more!;)

Anyway I did 69 minutes at the gym and then came home and did 76 minutes on the elliptical. I was watching a movie and wanted to finish it. I didn't intend to do 76 minutes, but felt pretty good when I was done!

hope everyone is having a great day!

We just got back from Cincy, left yesterday morning for DD's cheer competition. I did pretty good eating wise, although I did have pizza last night. It was a fun competition, DD's squad ended up in 3rd and that was a good place.

Yes we celebrate Easter. My fil is coming down to spend it with us, this will be different. It's our first Easter without my mil :(

I missed you guys while I was gone!

QOTD for Sunday: We don't celebrate easter, other than to do the easter bunny stuff, and usually have family come to our house.

Today, we tried out Disney's Dance Dance revolution. DH and I started off with it, and then DD7 played with me. It sure can get the heart rate up, and its fun too.

I'm impressed with how much exercising some of you are doing!

I'm off to pay bills :scared1:.

I hope everybody had a fantastic weekend. I'm bemoaning the snow we are having at the moment. I don't think I would care as much if I had a garage to park in. ;) Part of me hopes for a snow day, but part of me knows that we will probably get that knocked off of our spring break that starts on Thursday. sigh.

My school is having a talent show as a fundraiser and I think I've decided to sing "I Hope You Dance." I went online to look for a possible dance costume and was disappointed to see they don't really make them for slightly larger people. Oh well. I'll scrape something together.

QOTD Monday: How did you do this weekend?

QOTD for Monday:
Overall I did as planned over the weekend. It was my first weekend on WW, and I used a bunch of the extra weekly points on Sat night. Other than the munchies while playing board game on Sat night, I stayed on plan. My kids and DH know that I'm not having McD or A&W for a month. DH is being very supportive with me trying WW.

We tried the Glad microwave steaming bags and they are quick and easy, but fairly expensive. Usually I use a pot with a steamer insert, and it takes a little longer and makes a couple dishers to wash. If anybody tries the bags, cut the time down if you like your steamed veggies a bit firm. It says to do the asparagus for 3-4min, and I only did 2 and it was perfect.

Jessi - Good luck finding a costume for the talent show, I'm sure you'll be able to find something! And I pm'd you the other day, if you're still looking for a coach next week, I'm willing to give it a try. But no worries if somebody else wants to do it.

I am SUPER impressed. I'm not sure exactly how far 5K is, but I'm SURE I couldn't do it in the time you did! And I DON'T run in public.... only at home so my humiliation is only witnessed by my family! Anyhow, great job!.....P

Pjlla - 5K is 3.1 miles, which is a very achievable distance. I try not to worry too much about the public humiliation, but I have to admit, I'd rather run like a dork in front of strangers than in front of people who know me!

Maria - I love to stay for the last finishers when I can! It doesn't always work out, but it's always fun when I get to.

I've been neglecting the QOTD. I'm just going to cut right to today's:

QOTD Monday: How did you do this weekend?

Not too bad. Went out to my favorite Italian restaurant on Saturday night with some friends. I ordered the whole grain angelhair with roasted vegetables (It is what I always get, though there are many other things that would be wonderful, it is the healthiest option) and we did not have any dessert. Not even a bite of the kids' ice cream sundaes, as the kids were just finishing their first day of antibiotics for Strep. Technically the should have been non-contagious, but I still took the excuse to skip the ice cream.

I got to work on the set for play - always fun. Though I did have a couple of hard candies. Journaled them! Overall, I felt like the weekend was OK.

Ok purple team. Let's see if we can get it together. I want to challenge you to all weigh in this week. If you fail to weigh in two weeks in a row you are removed until I hear from you. Th challeng simply isn't long enough to let it go longer than that like in the past. As always, just PM me to rejoin.

I also want to see this thread become more active!

QOTD: What can the captain or coach do to make this thread more enticing?

Corinnak: That sounds like a great meal. Eating healthy does not mean that we can't eat tasty. Whole grain pasta is wonderful!

LuvBaloo: Good to know those bags work. Can you reuse them to save on cost? How are you liking WW so far?

Things aren't going too bad here. We start our math state test tomorow and I'm a bit nervous for some of my students. Hopefully it will go well!

Jessi, I don't think there is anything you can do. You're already posting QOTD's. I'm guessing some of the team members have just gotten busy and aren't checking in all the time. Is the green thread more active? Is anything different being done over there?

And I don't know if you can wash and reuse or not with the steam bags. Or you could probably, just put the bag in the fridge with the veggies and reuse a couple times. All you do is put the veggies in, close it and put in microwave, you don't have to add anything.
