BL 3 - BLUE TEAM - Week 4

the numbers for the team challenge are being double checked right now. there may be some adjustments because there may be some discrepency. So please double check your numbers. I think everyone was on target, but if I missed something, please let me know..

The biggest thing to check is that ...

1. drinking water every day is max 5 pts.
2. two new fruits or veggies for a total of 5 points, but it is unlimited points on how many times you tried a new fruit and/or veggie. 2 fruits/and or veggie = 5 points. 4 fruits/and or veggie = 10 pts. etc
3. Doing a hobby for 20 minutes instead of snacking for 5 pts. each time is worth 5 points
4. healthy breakfast is max 5 points if you ate that everyday
5. For each 3 servings of whole grains this week is 5 points so that is each time 3 servings is eaten it is 5 points
6. 2 non starchy vegetables 3 days this week. Max of 10 pts.
7 No eating of fast food (except subway and salads) max of 5 pts.

1. I drank water every day = 5 pts
2. I tried a total of 3 new fruits/veggies = 7 1/2 pts
3. I did a hobby for at least 20 minutes instead of snacking, many times, every day of each day last week; I just don't "snack". = ??? If I counted every 20 minute increment that I was working on a hobby and not snacking, I'd have quite a high number here.... LOL
4. I had a healthy breakfast every single day = 5
5. I ONLY eat whole grains, at least 2 or 3 servings per day. So each day X 7 days = 35 pts
6. I eat NO starchy veggies (I'm on South Beach! :) ) = 10
7. I ate NO fast food last week! Even those gross french fries were from a real restaurant = 5

So now, can ANYONE tell me what my total points would be? I have to say, I think these contests are slightly difficult in trying to add up and keep track of points. I wish there was a simpler, more exact and specific method, so it's easy for all of the participants to keep an accurate record. There appears to be too wide of a margin for personal interpretation, which may or may not be unfair to the other teams. Just my humble opinion.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to calculate my points for the challange. I worked late Wednesday (yesterday) and came home & went to bed. That challange, IMO, had way too many things to keep track of. Maybe challanges from now on could focus on ONE thing each week. Like just the water. Or just the no fast food.

Good Morning Blue Team! Rise and shine, it's time for a new day!

I am here to post my exercise plan for the week, subject to change due to weather, time constraints, exhaustion and others. BUT I will mark what I do. So, if I do nothing all week, feel free to kick me in the pants!

I really need to try harder on that in the future. Now, one cake down (the paid one) and the second to go. And I promise, I will not eat frosting!:rotfl:

thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers :grouphug:

debbie -- :upsidedow now that's my kind of strength training :upsidedow

sasha -- wow you are a busy lady! i'm glad you found a way to eat and avoid your allergies, you are very dedicated :cheer2: i for one understand when life gets crazy and you can't check in or report in on time...it happens and now you have a jumpstart for next week! your exercise plan looks good...might look better with a couple 10 minute stretching sessions at the end of your tennis workouts for some team challenge points :thumbsup2

veronica -- :tinker: for some answers and a speedy recovery!! i thought the same thing about Jillian, i like her better after hearing one of her podcasts. i hope it's not too late to download her interviewing Bob??!!

disneyluv -- what a GREAT workout plan!!:cheer2:

seaspray and disneychrista -- i'm sorry you found the challenge confusing :confused3 honestly that was not my intention and i would never want to add stress or complication to your BL experience :guilty: i'm going to go edit this weeks challenge with a little more specificity......and please know that the challenges are for FUN! if they seem too much just pick one or two tasks and do that and no worries! if you can add 5 or 10 pts to the team total that is FANTASTIC! it was hard for me to try and 'challenge' 100+ people in a way that everyone could relate. i hope you don't give up on them...and i appreciate your feedback, it's not unnoticed, i hope you'll be able to tell in the future?

geekerbell -- how was that frosting?? ....NOT!!! great job conquering that!!

it's great to see everyone's workout plans!! CYBER HIGH FIVE BLUE!!

i'm :woohoo: and :cloud9: that i got my big Long Walk(LW) done! it's the longest long before the 1/2 marathon in about 4 weeks. and it's done! did i mention i got it done??!! :rotfl:

i have to share my funny story -- i live about .6 miles from a walking path, i took my path to the path and there i planted a water bottle for later -- i do this on LW all the time. i looped around and about a hour later came back to find my water bottle EMTPY and in the trash can beside the manhole cover thingie i left it on! can you believe someone drank my water!! and then left the empty bottle just smirking at me in the trash!! I told Mom next time i'm writing "NOT YOURS" on the bottle :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

luckywife, hope you have fun at Cedar point! sounds like a fun place to go. I love Richard Simmons too! His 80's blast off is so much fun!

OhMom, expressing continued thoughts, and prayers for you, you mom, and your whole family. Hugs and pixie dust being sent too! :wizard: . Remember to take care of you during the sad time. I'll be praying for you.:grouphug:

Debbie, LOVE your exercise for people over 50... You got me good! At the point of 100 pounds, I thought WOW, that is something, how does she do that? ahhh, then I read the end!:rotfl: Your exercise plan sounds great too, LOVE the shop till you drop plan! :goodvibes

hrpufnsash, just hang on to your weight loss for now. AND CONGRATS on losing that!!! RAW diet? Is that basicly all foods in their natural form? I think that is amazing!:worship: and your exercise plan is fine. It is a way to get down on paper your exercise commitment! WAY TO GO!:yay:

VernRDH, hope everything went well at the Doc's office. You have a great mindset! LOVE IT! Thanks for the info on the podcast, I will have to go check it out!

disneyluv, awesome exercise plan! what is the cybex? Wow, you workout a nice segment of time. I look forward to working up to those times.

SeaSpray, looks like you would be at 75 points. I gave you 10 points then for activities, but you could boost that up. The new fruits were 2 = points, so the 2 1/2 points wouldn't count, BUT the good news is that you are in second place for top earner of challenge points! Hoping that next weeks challenge points are a bit easier for everyone.

Geekerbell, your exercise plan looks great too! walking is such a great exercise for all of us. ANd congrats on avoiding the mean cake monster! One more cake monster to avoid and your GOLDEN! Just think how awesome it is going to feel to post that you resisted temptation! WAY TO GO!:cheer2:

MIDanceMom, LOVE your Thursday exercise plan! Sounds like a fun day to me!;) thanks for posting it here! Another 5 points for the team!!!:yay:

i'm :woohoo: and :cloud9: that i got my big Long Walk(LW) done! it's the longest long before the 1/2 marathon in about 4 weeks. and it's done! did i mention i got it done??!! :rotfl:

i have to share my funny story -- i live about .6 miles from a walking path, i took my path to the path and there i planted a water bottle for later -- i do this on LW all the time. i looped around and about a hour later came back to find my water bottle EMTPY and in the trash can beside the manhole cover thingie i left it on! can you believe someone drank my water!! and then left the empty bottle just smirking at me in the trash!! I told Mom next time i'm writing "NOT YOURS" on the bottle :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Oh my goodness! can't believe that someone would do that! And that is kind of gross in a way too, I know you wouldn't do anything nasty to the water, but how does that other person know it is ok to drink? YUCK! Love the idea of putting a note on it!:lmao:

vija -- it was a brand new, sealed water bottle --- LOL

and i just edited the team challenge here if anyone is interested, hope it's more clear and not clear as mud!

Still writing in colors this week... something silly and different! Since I asked everyone to color a dream, I thought it appropriate to color the posts! Anyway, I am doing ok, getting the exercise in. I am spending way to much time on the internet researching our upcoming trip. WAY TO MUCH TIME. but it is good I guess because it is keeping me from snacking!:thumbsup2 I peeked on the scale today... and I am happy with what I saw... I am determined to see it even lower for TUesday, so please, please, please send me some Jillian "beatings" so I stay on course this weekend! I don't think I need the pixie dust and good feelings from "Bob", I think I need the beatings from Jillian and my blue teammates!!:rotfl:

9/26 2 miles running (40 minutes) and push ups and crunches DONE
9/27 30 minutes of elliptical, then lower body and abs and stretching DONE
9/28 incline walking for 30 minutes in am; arms and chest circuit training in afternoon DONE PLUS 10 MINS OF ROWING
9/29 lower body and abs, stretching (cardio off day)
9/30 running 2 miles (40 minutes), arms and chest circuit training
10/1 30 minute incline walking and push ups and crunches
10/2 2 mile run (40 minutes) push ups and crunches

So there it is so far, my exercise regimine. I decided to try the rowing machine at the gym today. Jillian says its a great calorie burn, over 500 calories in an hour:scared1: I only did 10 mins, but it was fun and I will definately do it more in the future.

As far as my dr. appt-he does not believe it is an allergy. He had a name for it (which escaped me as soon as I left the office:upsidedow ) but he said it could be viral in nature. Recommended Claritin for a week or two and see how things go. No Benadryl today, and only small outbreak. I still think it might be red dye, as I have been drinking more crystal light fruit punch lately, but he felt that was highly unlikely. But I am going to cut it out for now and reintroduce it and see how I react.

ohmom-too funny about the water. And the episode with Bob was in July I think, so it should still be available, I only downloaded it last week.

To all my Blue Loser teammies-I am so proud of us all and our success so far.:cheer2: I don't really care if we "win" the challenge, as long we are all better for having taken part in it. WE ARE ALL WINNERS!!!!

Boy, do I feel bad! :( I didn't mean to imply that the challenges were not well thought-out or a bad idea or anything! It seems that everyone else did fine with keeping track, so it must just be me. :rolleyes1

ohMom: I sincerely do appreciate all of the time and effort you put into the team challenges, and into the Biggest Loser contest :) I shouldn't have complained, and I feel bad about it. From now on I'll either figure out the challenge and do it, or just keep quiet. :upsidedow lol

DH and I went to a wedding tonight, we had a really nice time. We did a great job with our food choices. It was a buffet and we chose sliced roast beef (only 1 slice for each of us, and no gravy), fresh sauteed veggies, ONE 3-cheese ravioli for each of us, and I had a tiny SLIVER of the wedding cake. You could almost see through this piece of cake! LOL All in all, I think we did a great job, and this little "splurge" should not affect us at all this week :) Many people noticed our weight loss, so that felt good. :goodvibes

I hope everyone has a great weekend! :grouphug:

This weeks challenge seems much easier for me. Is it wrong to say that I feel like the exercise has become an "addiction". Like I am so into it now that I don't want to miss out on going to the gym or doing the treadmill at home. Have I gone around the bend?:tilt:

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. :dance3:

EVERYONE thank you for your sincere thoughts and prayers and believe me they ARE BEING FELT! Yes- it is a difficult part of life to "let go" of a loved one - but I am so peaceful about my mom's passing - peaceful doesn't mean that it's easy, but - as Molli said my mom has been in the nursing home since Jan 2007 and failing - really failing - since May - and that is hard too. I am so glad that I have my faith to make it through - my mom has been legally blind for 30 years and I am telling you - I KNOW that she is actually see those street of "gold"!

I have not read the challenge - but expect to get it first hand tomorrow when I see Molli - so hope that I can "sign up" and participate. I have been getting in some tming so hopefully, I can "catch up" soon.

Also, I am taking to heart that I for one need to step it up a notch for the Bluies - and am trying to be mindful of what I am eating. DH made cookies today and I did sample but then got my veggie soups warmed up and out of the same room those cookies were stashed in.

Gotta run - AGAIN THANK YOU all for your thoughts and prayers. Tomorrow is the visitation and Monday the memorial service and then I shall return.
:grouphug:

I don't really care if we "win" the challenge, as long we are all better for having taken part in it. WE ARE ALL WINNERS!!!!

VernRDH, I love how you stated that above. I am so proud of myself for having really buckled down, and I feel that certainly makes me a winner. I consider each "challenge" that comes up in my daily life a victory when I overcome the munchies, etc. I agree, I think we are all winners!!! I hope those hives go away, away, away... is the Claritin helping? Awesome job with the rower! That is fantastic! I think it is great you are addicted to exercise, your body loves you for it! If you've gone around the bend, take me with you! I am learning to love the feeling I get when I exercise. I used to LOVE that feeling and I look forward to when I can run again and get that Lovin' feelin' again!

SeaSpray, Please don't feel bad about what you said about the challenge, I never took it in a negative way, on the contrary, I thought it was a positive. You really wanted to participate, and do the points right so the blue team would be done right by you. Please, don't worry, ask the questions, vent if you wish, that is why we are here... to help each other in any way, including counting and figuring out challenge points. YOU participated, and that is awesome!!! In my book that makes you a WINNER!:cheer2: What a great job you did at the wedding. That is awesome. You kept your focus, and I bet you feel great about that.:goodvibes ANd how wonderful that people noticed your weight loss, glad you feel good.. you deserve it!!!!:jumping1:

AlreadyexcitedGrammy, continued prayers for you. I loved reading about your mom, and how she can now see the streets of Gold! Would you mind sharing a favorite memory of her when you feel up to it? I truly love to hear stories about people. Our memories are such a treasure, as I am sure your dear Mom was a treasure to you!

Today was another good day! Work was fairly busy so it was good because it kept me out of the lounge and away from snacking. And we were very busy that I was walking alot today. Food choices were great as well!!! :woohoo: And the BEST NEWS???? DD was at her first Tae Kwon Do tournament and she won first place in her group!!! How awesome is that? I am so proud of all the work she put into it! I was thrilled, just sad that I couldn't be there. :sad1: DH taped it for me, so it was neet to see! Pretty soon that new job will have me off of weekends!:yay: Are my color posts getting to you guys yet? I've kind of enjoyed changing up the colors! :artist:

Vija-:cheer2: to your DD on the TKD tournament!!! My DD will be doing her second one in a few weeks. She is a high green belt and will be competing in forms. Last year she had just started and she did board breaking:eek: She did not place, but everyone gets a trophy for competing.

I just realized I never posted up my dream. So here it is ::3dglasses

I am on a cruise with my DH. It is formal night and we are dressed to the nines. DH looks marvelous in a tuxedo, now that he has trimmed down. But I stand out. My hair is perfectly coiffed, I have on shiny, sparkly jewelry. But it is the DRESS that makes everyone turn and look. It is red, candy apple red, a halter dress with a plunging neckline:eek: It fits like a glove over my toned, fit body. My arms no longer look like Jello Jigglers and my legs are lean and shapely. I will feel confident and sure of my self walking in the beautiful red shoes to match the dress. I will be feeling proud of myself and where I am in my life.

Someday I'm gonna wear that dress. So I am warning you all now, WATCH OUT!!! ;)

ETA: Oh the hives, well they seem to come out after I work out now, a heat related thing, Dr. had mentioned that too. No real rhyme or reason but, they do go away after a time. I didn't take the claritin today, but will now before I go to bed.

So I have been doing pretty good following my plan.

It ist at least motivating me to exercise.

As for my dream, mine is more a mental thing then a physical thing. I want to have the confidence that I can do anything and not be afraid everyone is staring at me and judging me for my every move. Not be afraid to jump into things because I am afraid or know that others are judging me for my appearance. As for physical things I want to have a smooth back and thighs that don't rub together when I walk. Sorry if it is TMI.

Keep on moving and making healthy choices.:cool1: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:
