BL 3 - BLUE TEAM - Week 4

Not open for further replies.
Looks like everyone is doing well this week!!

I'm down 2 lbs for a total of 3.7 since I was officially added to Blue team on 9/17.

So far this week I've tried -

pomegranate -- so so
snap peas -- steamed in the bag bought fresh at Sam's. these I could eat
white peach --- seemed like normal\
white nectarine --- like a normal one
Pink Lady Apple -- liked it better than the usual red delicious we have
Black grapes --- still like red better to freeze & eat
artichoke----not to my liking - the butter/mayo my friend ate it w/ might
have helped
mango --this I could handle

Keep in mind I TASTED these, most I didn't eat the whole thing, but I tried them!!

Good morning Blue Team!! Nice work this week. :thumbsup2

I'm down 3 lbs this week.... I'm okay with that, but I know that my weekend eating sabotaged my efforts, so I'm a little disappointed in myself. I can do great during the week, but the weekends are going to kill me. My DH is a BIG eater and enjoys all those tasty not-so-good-for-you things. He also has a tendency to eat one BIG meal and then want to snack for supper.... well, you know how bad an idea that is. Anyway, he's supporting my idea to eat healthier, but loves to grill on the weekends, and he's a MASTER griller!!! :wizard: Yummy!!!

I've done pretty good on the challenge, successfully avoiding fastfood (which wasn't easy with my McDonald's loving DH), eating breakfast and drinking water. I also found that if I have a desire to snack, taking out my stamps and creating some greeting cards is a GREAT diversion. For one thing, you can't eat while making a card, you might get food/grease spots on it. THANK YOU for this challenge idea..... I LOVE IT!!!

My dream:

I'm looking forward to the day when I fit back into my jeans.... the black Calvin Kleins with the tan stitching, and my tight tan Coyote Ugly T-shirt that DH bought me on our honeymoon.
I will put on my jeans, the t-shirt and my cowboy boots..... do my hair, makeup and spray on some Champs Elysees (my DH's favorite perfume). Then he and I will head out to country night at the bar to do some Swing Dancing and just enjoy the evening together. I know DH loves when I feel confidant about myself..... he says confidance is sexy (are we allowed to write that), so I can't wait to feel confidant in my clothes again.

Actually, I just can't wait for the day when I can get up and choose any one of my outfits to wear to work because they will all fit me again. :rolleyes1

Hey Blue Team!

I am back from vacation and did my WI this morning. I gained .5 I guess that is not too bad considering I did not eat that healthy.

I went shopping before I left and I bought some items for next summer that were 1 and 2 sizes smaller!! They actually fit pretty good now so I know that they will look even better come spring when it is time to wear them!

Congrats to everyone that has lost! :thumbsup2 And to those of us who gained or did not loose. Don't give up this is a new week and we will be down next week. :)

Since I was out of town I did not do the challenge but I am ready for this weeks!

Have a great day everyone!

Go Blue:woohoo:

Michele

hello BLUE FRIENDS AND COHORTS :teeth:

seaspray -- i was up early too i promise! :goodvibes: i got called last night to work so i was out the door at 6:45 :scared: :coffee: and cyber high five on overcoming your setback and succeeding this week!! i will join you in the she-haters-of-cauliflower club  sorry deb

debbie -- such a wise friend....and WTG on a loss this week too! now that you are feeling better you'll be ready to burn some more of those calories and pounds away  :teeth:

veronica -- you beat me up! i have it down to a science of getting up and out the door in as little time as possible when i have to work ::yes:: GREAT job on the loss this week. i understand the resistence of the disappointment, but you are right is a move in the right direction! can you squeeze in one more new fruit or veggie tonight??? no pressure!

geekerbell -- LOVE that username btw -- glad you are feeling better! and a 1.2 lb loss is FAB!!

luckywife -- c'mon, take some figs or baby kiwi to veronica's tonight??!! and WOW what a GREAT WI for you!! rock on!

PVija -- maintaining is good, it is not gaining!! for the frustration you went through this week, but it is making you stronger and more aware of how what you eat plays a part in your health, mental and physical. don't beat yourself up over the past, that is what the old Vija did. the new Vija only looks ahead! can we make suggestions for your alternative to McD's??

and wow, great writing...i could see you and your DD playing in that park..... i'll have to think on this one

Sabrina -- YEA!! you lost .8 pounds!! :yay: :yay: that is BIG GREAT NEWS!

becka -- does losing .5 lbs still make a plateau? b/c in 3 more weeks you'll be down 2 more lbs? i'm just wondering and thinking out loud, but you are so motivated and deserve to keep it melting away. i can't say that i've been that diligent in my eating/portion control in quite some time. sounds like you have some great tactics in mind for busting through.....you can do this!

jennz -- to you for the scale not reflecting your efforts! but if you clothes are fitting better you must be adding muscle and just need some time for readjustments to be made! it will come off, no need to apologize! you are rockin' the house!

dopey -- ditto to you from jennz! and i hope you like the challenge.......nail-biting here.....

DisneyMomTwins -- i think losing 1.2 lbs is WONDERFUL! that is 5 sticks of butter you melted off your hips!! :woohoo: i hear you on the journaling challenges.....right with ya sister

Michelle -- great job getting back to your workouts and reporting a loss this week! be sure to check in on Wednesday for the next weeks team challenge, it may be up your alley......ok, that's all i'm saying..nothing more ;)

goldcupmom -- WOW! you really took on the new fruit/veggie challenge! i'm kinda thinkin' I could've tried harder! thanks for sharing your findings! and great job on a 2 lb loss -- 2 lbs gone FOREVER!

fishbone -- i think losing 3 lbs in one week would make me do a happy dance! i struggle with the weekends too -- that is why we have to help each other out! i want to be a master griller.....i love to watch and read about it and i'm getting more adventurous. and i'm really glad to know that the challenge motivated you and you had FUN with it!

:welcome: back Michele -- and i think just a .5 vacation gain is great. i usually gain 4 lbs! no matter where, no matter how long, unless it's a cruise than i gain more!

did i tell you all what i tried new? Figs -- YUM! and oh yea, baby kiwi, i told you all about those -- YUM TOO!

my goals for this week --

1. JOURNAL EVERYTHING I EAT -- why can't i just DO THIS for one week?!?

2. No eating past 7 p.m.

3. No alcohol -- i just can't lose when i drink, especially when it leads to snacks

4. keep up with my routine healthy habits; water, exercise and good food choices

oh yea, i was down .8 lbs tihs week. i too was hoping for more, and actually felt like i did the right things and should've seen more, but i can't say that for certainty b/c i didn't journal 100 %. i can say that at work we are doing "Know your numbers" for our wellness incentive this quarter so i had my cholestrol and blood sugar checked today and they are both at very healthy levels. yea for that!

I only have a moment, I'll be back later on, but I just wanted to say that I had to run to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things so I wandered over to produce and bought a pluot! LOL I just ate it, it was pretty good! :)

I have no idea how, but I gained .6 ???

I've done well with my calories, althoughI just started exercising again after not due to being run down. That shouldn't cause me to gain though.

But, I'm not down because I know I've been doing great. I just hav to keep at it. I had such a larg loss last week (5pds) that it probably caused me not to lose this week. That happens to me a lot. I will have a big loss and then a smaller loss

My goals for this week:

1. Keep my calories within my range.

2. Improve my water intake.

3. Keep up my cardio and add weight training.

Okay, so my goals for this week are...

1. Log EVERYTHING I eat into FitDay
2. Increase my morning walk to 30 minutes
3. Walk 6 mornings
4. Add strength training two evenings
5. Continue my water intake at 80oz. +
6. Finally hit the 15 pound loss point by next weigh in

I'm going to have to think about how to write out my dreams. It's kinda out of my comfort zone to share anything personal...even though none of you know me. What can I say...I'm a freak:laughing:

Hi Team Blue!!! I lost 2 pounds this week - I am pleased with it. It's the right direction and it's a healthy and safe loss.

My other challenges? I tried a pomegranate (love the juice and flavor, wanted to try the fruit) and a Honey Crisp apple. I did my water every day and I had breakfast every day but one. I did eat fast food twice.

Well...only a few minutes to TBL so I'd better log off! I'll come back and paint my dream soon.

Greetings Blue team !!!

Congrats on a great week everyone !!!!.

I got beat up this week with the 1st cold of the season....so I fell way off track :-(

Only down 1 this week...but back on track with the exercising so hopefully next week will be better.

I am 1.8# down for the week. I am very proud of that, since work is still very very hectic and I can't get in the exercise that I used to (2 miles in the AM, 3 - 4 miles in the evening).

And for those who are struggling. Remember this is NOT a diet. This is a lifestyle change. Don't make DRASTIC changes all at once, if you can't stick with those changes for the rest of your life. Having a "bad" day is part of life. Letting that be your excuse to have more bad days is a bad CHOICE. Don't deprive yourself, you will go 180 degrees in the wrong direction. Instead treat yourself regularly, so you can stick with the good choices you are making for a better you.

Well time for me do my exercise. A 3 miles WATP DVD.

So I am apologizing in advance. I gained 7.2 pounds since September 4th. I guess that is what I get for more then one dessert at dinner on the Magic and then a midnight snack for two weeks. Plus I am currently PMSing.

The good news is I ate a decent breakfast each morning, still drank my water, and tried some new fruits and veggies. I have to figure out points as I only found out about the challenge afterwards.

Goals:
Keep drinking my water
Eat more fruits and veggies
Eat a variety of healthy foods
exercise 30 minutes at least 5 days
get at least 7 hours of sleep each night

Congrats to those of you who lost. To those who didn't keep moving forward and make healthy choices in the future.

Thanks for reminding me of that. That is so true and just what I needed to hear......Sometimes I get hung up on the goal and forget that this is lifestyle and not just temporary. I tend to beat myself up too long after a "bad food choice" and that causes me to make other bad choices. Thanks for reminding me of that.
Well, I just got home and I "tivo"ed TBL and I am off to watch it!

no time to really respond other than to say - I am up 1.5 pounds - yes, I know - "the plan works if I stick with it" I am going to do better this week!

Sorry - my report "cancels out" the "hard work" by another teamie - I am going to focus on that, when I reaching for the "stress" food............

just yesterday my DH said we need to eat more veggies - I do eat more than he does but I need to make a better effort on that too at dinner!

:grouphug: :wizard: to ALL !

Good morning Blue Team! :sunny:

Well I'm DOWN a pound this morning. This pound will have to go towards next weeks weigh in. Now I'm within a HALF of a pound of a 30 pound loss! I cannot wait to be able to put the 30 pound clippie in my signature, and then continue on with my personal mini-goal of losing 35 pounds before my cruise in 4 1/2 weeks.

disneychrista: You are so right when you say that this should be a lifestyle change, not a short-term plan just to lose some pounds. We want to lose weight so we can look better, feel better, AND be healthier! At least, those are MY reasons anyway :)

To answer the team question of what my DREAM is... Hmm... :scratchin I guess my DREAM is to never have to worry about getting onto an airplane and being uncomfortable because I'm overweight, or worry about spilling over into someone else's seat/space. Also, I want to look NICE! I'm a realistic kind of person; I know I'm 46, I'm no spring chicken. LOL But I firmly believe in trying to look your best no matter what your age is. I just don't want to be FAT. I do NOT want to be "thin" or "skinny". I just want to get rid of the fat. I'd also like to be able to be more physically active; run all around WDW without any pain (although that may be physically impossible no matter how little I weigh, thanks to rheumatoid arthritis and plantar fasciitis), and if I can't run around, then I don't want my weight to be any part of the reason why I can't. I have a lot more reasons and "dreams" but not the time right now to think them all through and to "paint" a picture. I'll keep thinking about it and try again. lol

To my fellow teammates who also didn't lose this week, or who gained, I'd like to say "Let's hang in there!" Do not be ashamed, we all understand. The best thing that you can do for yourself AND for our team is to continue up and strive to do better!!! ::yes:: :grouphug:

Good morning everyone!
Well, I'm one of those people who just HAS to weigh every morning. It kind of keeps me on track. So when I weighed in this morning I saw a number I haven't seen in almost a year.

 (WARNING! This number coming up is still REALLY HUGE!)

299.8! I have not seen a 2 at the beginning of my weight since last November! I know it is just barely in the 200's, and I still have such a long way to go, but still. There's a 2 at the beginning!:goodvibes

So I must say, even though I was getting really down yesterday, and haven't been feeling that great the last couple of weeks, and really wanted to get back in bed this morning, instead of doing my morning walk...That was just such a confidence booster! I even went out and added another 5 minutes to my walk this morning!:yay:

Okay, now I have a request...I really need some prayers and pixie dust sent my way that I don't sabatoge this the remainder of the week. I am baking and decorating two cakes this week. (One is actually a paying gig. Ooo...exciting). Now, I did a cake last week and I was very good. No licking the spoon of the batter bowl or having the left over frosting (and I make some really GOOD buttercream ;) ). I even only had one bite of the cake at the party on Saturday, and logged it in on my calories.
But, alas, TOM is approaching, and we all know what that means:headache::rotfl: .

But I will be strong! I don't want to see 300 ever again! And darn it, I want a new clippie!:lmao:

Hope everyone has a super day!

Geekerbell, WEIGH TO GO!! How exciting to be in a new century!!! Keep up the good work and before you know it, you might just be in ONE-derland!!!

Today is FILs 65th birthday.:wizard: On Monday night, he came to babysit as we had to go to open house at school. Since this happens every year, DH bakes him a cake and then FIL and DD decorate and eat it. But none the less, it is CAKE (one of my worst weaknesses:rolleyes: ). So DH bakes the cake and we go off to school. When we get back, there is the cake, all frosted and decorated and ready to eat. Now I had been soooo good during the day and had planned everything out. But I had to have a piece of cake. So I had a small one. And it was okay. Not fabulous, not earth shatteringly good, just okay. Then a little while later, I feel yucky, sickish. Its the cake. I know it. So no more cake for me. So I will be thinking of you Geekerbell and your cake nemesis, but STAY STRONG!!! Don't see that big ole 3 again on the scale. Use the force:darth:

Hope everyone has a great day. I will post up my colorful dream later today, when I have more time.

Geekerbell - AWESOME!!:cheer2: Congratulations! That's really motivating.

Vern - cake made you sick? :scared1: That's a good thing, really...as long as you don't do like I would and test it out again to make sure it was the cake.:rotfl2: Great job taking a small piece instead of obsessing about it.

Seaspray and DisneyChrista - thanks so much for the pep talk :grouphug: you are absolutely right and I needed to hear that! It's around this time that I start to choose unhealthy quick fixes that I "deserve" - well I "deserve" to be healthy and have energy and fit comfortably in chairs more than I "deserve" that bag of chips don't i? Yes I do!

AlreadyExcitedGrammy and everyone else with a + from the scale this week - next weigh in will be a good one - I'm with you!:wave2:

Last night I made the winning "fried" chicken from the BL cookbook - very tasty, DH said he'd eat it again and DD even ate it! 3 ww points/breast, and I have leftovers for lunch today and tomorrow. Ya know, 1 pound of food can really go a long way! ;)

Now..do I go and walk my poochies and risk my leg hurting again or do I try out the treadmill? Decisions decisions...I feel guilty getting on the tm and leaving them out of the walk, though, so I end up not doing anything. What I should probably do is go to the running store and buy myself some new shoes!

Good Morning! :)

Geekerbell....I'm so happy for you that you're in the 200's now. You rock!!! :woohoo: Even if it is, as you say, "just barely", well, you have to start somewhere and you're off to a fantastic start. Keep up the great work.

Seaspray Your dream sounds great to me and look at you, you're doing it. Almost 30 pounds gone. That's amazing! Keep up the great work :thumbsup2

Jennz Do you mind sharing the recipe for the "fried" chicken you made last night? You can PM it to me if you have time.

I wanted to take time to say something to everyone personally but having a 4 year old running around here makes that kind of difficult ;) Just know that I think each one of you are doing a super job, no matter what the scale showed for the week. Being here and sticking with this is an accomplishment in itself.

I do have some exciting news to share with all of you. I bought my first size 12 pants yesterday, the first of that size in at least 14 years and THEY FIT!!! :cheer2: I put on a pair of 14's and they seemed just a tad too baggy. Not a lot but I figured I could try a size 12 and see what happened. I never really expected them to fit comfortably but when they did, I almost broke down and cried right in the dressing room. DH is in BIG trouble now. I hated shopping before but as the weight contines to come off, I'm having more and more fun with it. There's no stopping me now!

Wishing each one of you a wonderful day

Good Morning Blue!

I'm a little slow getting back on track this week. So far I have not exercised but I am back in the routine with my eating. Hopefully tonight I will get the exercise in.

Geekerbell - Congrats! I am so excited for you! Keep up the great work! You'll be getting that clippy in no time!

Vern - I wish that cake made me sick! I love sweets and that is my biggest downfall. I just have them in moderation now.

Seaspray - Congrats! I know you will make it to the 35 mark by your trip!

Well my dream is to finally let the thin girl I know lives inside of me out to shine. I am tired of shopping at the "fat girl" stores and I want to be able to walk into any store and buy clothes. I don't want to be fat in my 30's. I am going to stick with it this time and lose all the weight! Thanks to all your support and my determination I know I can do this!

Have a great day everyone!

Michele
