As stated in previous post we are going again (just got back last week!) in July for my son's 7th bday. He LOVES the monorails so we are staying in the CR tower. What ideas do you have to make his birthday special? I know about the button he can get but are there any other special meals or activities I should try? He has been there about 9 times so I am looking for something to make this trip extra special...

The Ice Cream Social at Epcot might be a fun treat.

I would also call www.disneyflorist.com they do custom baskets, or offer the ones online, have it sent to him from his favorite characters.

Be sure it's noted on your reservation as well.

The button will get him LOTS of attention- I know I did when I wore one!! Be ready to tell characters and CMs everywhere how old you are!! LOL!!

Theres a great off site company that does baskets too. Ill see if I can find her website and then get back to you. She puts in a stuffed animal of your favorite character and then all sorts of treats on sticks, etc.

If restaurants don't see his button, tell them you are celebrating, they may have a special dessert to offer him.

Has he done the Pirate Cruise at the Grand Floridian? My son was about that age when he did it and he loved it. I am sure they would make it extra special knowing it was his birthday.

We just got back from vacation and we went to Chef Mickeys for my DS 3rd birthday. I wasn't impressed. They didn't sing to him, say his name or anything. He got a cupcake w/ a candle to blow out and a placemat w/ signatures from the characters. The food wasn't as good as crystal palace either! I called about a cake w/ a Mickey face on it and it was $45!

The hotel was the best for my son's b-day. The morning of my son's B-day I left a birthday banner (mickey of course!), tape, balloons, a gift bag full of surprises and a note to housekeeping w/ a $10 tip. We got the cutest birthday decorations! We got several animal washcloths (at least 6), the banner was strug between the lights over our beds, balloons hung up, toys displayed... The wiggles characters were put out, the book was set up...etc! The hotel even gave us extra hellium balloons w/ a card from Mickey and that was the second set we got! The first set we got on the first day! It was very sweet!

We were at Beaches N Cream for lunch and they sang to him and gave him the cutest icecream desert that looked like Mickey Mouse!

We celebrated my DD's 6th birthday at WDW. We split our stay between two resorts and got nothing special from either one. That was a little disappointing. I didn't really expect anything, so wasn't too let down, but at the BC, they asked who her favorite character was upon check-in so I figured there would be a "signed" card from Minnie in our room one day. Nope, nothing. I'm guessing it was an oversight.

What we did do to make her birthday special was we had a t-shirt created at home. We had her picture (with a crown on her head) on the front with "Princess Shae" and on the back it said, "Princess Shae is 6 today!" We also had one made for her brother that said, "Prince North (yes, that's his name) has an unbirthday today!" They only wore the shirts on her birthday, but they did get lots of attention from the CMs around the parks. Alice especially liked the "unbirthday" shirt! (I got the idea for special t-shirts from the DIS boards!)

This may be a little unconventional, since many may see the GF tea as more of an adult thing, but I celebrated my son's fourth birthday there and it was GREAT. They have a fun "children's magic tea" on the menu which was actually chocolate milk and it came w/ finger sandwiches that he really liked. It is a small place so when the servers came out to sing to him all the other guests watched and clapped when the singing was done. So great! Then they gave him a fantastic cupcake w/ a candle that was delicious (he could only finish half, so I had to help, of course). I would love to return there to celebrate another one! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I took my son to the whispering canyon at WL for his 9th birthday aiming to embarass him. Instead I had to ride around on the stick horse singing Happy Birthday to him. It was definitely the highlight of his trip. They also sang a nice hawaiian birthday song at Ohana and brought out a little cupcake.

When we went last October it was the day after our one son's 12th birthday. Although the trip was not actually his birthday present or anything like that we did want to celebrate there. We stayed at Poly concierge and had made sure that they knew we were celebrating. I had arranged for a cake to be in our room (cost was about $25 - which I had agreed to. However, I noted that it was on our bill, and then taken off??? Mentioned it to concierge staff and they just said, "hope he enjoyed it!!"). They also brought some balloons and a card. We also celebrated the day that we checked in with lunch at the Crystal Palace. They put some decorations on the table and he got a card signed by all of the characters and the characters spent a little extra time at our table. We had one more surprise for him in store, but since I had not heard of this until very close to our trip we were not able to get reservations for the first night of our stay, as I would have liked. The reservations were for three days later, but from everything I've heard we were really lucky to get any at that late date. Anyway - after the first day our son was overwhelmed and actually said to his dad and I that he didn't think it was fair for him to get all the attention. So, with the help of the concierge staff, we changed the surprise a little. The surprise was to have been a birthday cruise to see Illuminations at Epcot. We changed it to an Un-birthday cruise for all three of our boys! The boat, which is decorated with a banner and balloon, goes out for about an hour and a half, includes a driver, cake, snacks, drinks. They park under one of the bridges right before Illuminations starts and you get an up-close view. It was fantastic - truly a once-in-a-lifetime treat for the boys - they were made to feel so special that night! Our driver was excellent, very knowledgable about Disney and knew a lot of Disney trivia. If you can afford this I'm sure your 7 year old would love it. I know it's not something we'll ever do again, but it's a memory that we'll always treasure!
