Biggest Loser "Sizzlin' Hot" Summer Challenge

I keep forgetting to post my answers to questions of the day. So to catch up on last 2. My independence will be being able to not worry if people are looking at me. Plus getting to shop for regular clothes. As for favorite exercise, I don't have one. Not a big fan of sweating. But if given a choice of what to do I would pick elyptical machine. Do not like stairmaster machines.

My favorite exercise classes right now are Werq (it's an aerobic dance class set to pop, hip hop, and rock songs), Zumba, Hip Hop Hustle (another aerobic dance class), Ripped (stands for Resistance, Interval, Plyometrics, Power, Endurance, and Diet..which is just a reminder to go home and eat healthy), and Strong (a weight-lifting class). I also enjoy Spinning but it hasn't fit in my schedule lately. I feel like I work harder in class and I really enjoy the variety and challenge. I personally don't enjoy Yoga or Pilates. I guess I need the loud music to get motivated :rotfl2:

Werq sounds like a lot of fun. Do you do it at a gym? Thanks for explaining RIPPED ... I never knew what that stood for. (I just thought it meant you looked good! :lmao:)

I will be healthier, have more self-confidence, and feel better. Shop where I want, and look good in most anything. As I lose, I am feeling this way, I imagine goal will make me feel all the more that way! Hope to find out sometime near Valentine's Day!

That sounds awesome! Valentine's Day will be here before you know it.

I've tried walking, running, zumba, a class called RIPPED (resistance, intervals, power, plyometrics, endurance & diet), swimming, and years ago I did all the things required in PE. When I'm out of shape, I HATE exercise because it hurts; however, sticking with it this time, I'm loving it because I feel so GOOD afterward!

I agree with the afteward. I feel better throughout the day and I am starting to find I have more energy. When I was in high school (decades ago) I also hated PE ... however, we didn't really have PE to develop a healthy lifestyle. It was more about learning how sports worked. Things have changed ... at the high school where I work they have mountain biking!

 I am so sorry about people looking at you. (Pretty rude.) I was never a big fan of sweating (and I still am not) however, I like getting it done first thing in the morning then getting my shower ... which I need to do right now (I just came back from running) ... you might not want to sit too close to me! :lmao:

QOTD

So today, as many of you know, is my oldest DS's 16th birthday. And as many of you may recall from either having teens or being one that well.......they know everything. They have superior knowledge, infinite wisdom, and are invincible. No one knows as much as they do, and we were teenagers back in the stone age. Life is "different" and "harder" then it was way back when we had dinosaurs as pets.

So my QOTD:
Pretend the universe is aligned so you, as a teen, would accept one piece of advice from the adult you. What piece of wisdom would you offer up to the teen you? What advice would you offer to any teen that you know?

***************************
Mine would be simple, don't stop moving. A a teen I walked, rode bikes, ran, skated. As an adult I became sedentary and that is when my weight problems really started to get bad. Take the opportunity to carve out time every day for physical activity.

Quote of the day

I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I just lived the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.

I am so sick! That's why I've been MIA. I dont even care about eating right now my throat is on fire! It's been getting progressively worse each day and I woke up today and can't swallow. I'm spending the day sleeping just took some nyquill so I'm hoping to pass out any minute now.

My doctor is closed for the weekend and I don't have my new insurance card so I can't go to the walk in clinic so sleeping through the pain is the best option

Feel better Trina!!

I was where you are a few weeks ago. Lots of liquid, tea with honey, throat drops and spray. NyQuil was my friend!

Chewing zinc tablet then swallowing orange juice really helps sore throats! We pull it out as last resort bc zinc tastes so bad, but it works so well!:grouphug:

I am so encouraged by you all! I am literally walking my tail off at 30 miles a week! Thinking the scale will just drop...but my hamstrings stay sore, joints are not happy unless I'm walking...I know there is water weight that needs to go with all the soreness..but, I am happy to claim my 60 pound clippie! Started last year at 265...weighed 204 this morning...kind of bummed bc I weighed 203.6 on Sunday and really stayed true to eating plan! Hopefully, one of these weeks I will have a WhoosH week and knock off 4-5 pounds!

Qotd: I would tell myself and all teens to grab hold of JOY and not let anxieties or fears rob it!

Good morning everyone!!!!! Happy Friday!!!!!!

Aww, look how cute your DS is! You must be so proud...and happy birthday to him!!

If I could give myself one piece of advice ten years ago, it would be to get into health care and get my BSN. Seriously, if I knew then what I know now, I would be a CRNA and living in Florida like I want to soooo bad. Having said that, I still don't think I would have done it, lol!! I was pretty strong-willed and you couldn't tell me much of anything when I was a teenager. But oh, how I wish I had been informed!

*********************
Gah!! My Disney trip is getting closer by the day, and I can't get over it!! We are just 83 days away and it seems like it's flying. I keep seeing all the pictures and updates from other people and other websites, and it gets me so excited. Plus, one of the girls going with us has never been, and the other hasn't been in years- how exciting is that?! :cool1:I can't wait. Plus, I think I'm gonna upgrade my tickets to an annual pass while I'm down there. That way it's no trouble to shoot down for a quick weekend...any excuse to get away!

Once again, I love your quotes!

What a handsome son! You should be so proud. They grow up WAY too fast.

QOTD: Well, since I have 2 teenagers, we give lots of advice (not sure if they are listening at times ... but they have surprised me!) ... and aahhh ... I would love to go back to those years, but only with the knowledge I have today. ;)

My advice is plan for the future, but live for today!

Since we have one going to college in a month , we are trying to steer him financially in the right direction. It is so hard in today's world where we want everything yesterday. If you were on the last BL thread, my oldest got into some prestigious colleges, however, he nor we could afford them without going into a lot of debt. He is going to a great college that is affordable. Four years from now, he will see how he made the right choice.

And be happy. There is never a day where you are "stuck" where you are. You make your future everyday. If it is not what you want, change it.

I am so sick! That's why I've been MIA. I dont even care about eating right now my throat is on fire! It's been getting progressively worse each day and I woke up today and can't swallow. I'm spending the day sleeping just took some nyquill so I'm hoping to pass out any minute now.

Happy Friday all! :goodvibes

It's been a tough week with a holiday smack dab in the middle.

Thank you so much, Fran, for coaching this week! :flower3: I loved all your pictures and questions.

And a big, BL welcome to our new coach, Buffy! :wave2:

QOTD (July5): In the above definition, physical exercise is referred to as a “wonder drug”. What type of exercise have you tried? What is your favorite type of exercise and what is your least favorite?

I would have to say running is my favorite exercise. Not that I really enjoy it alot of the time but I do LOVE doing Disney races. princess:

I also enjoy swimming but I am not a fan of the exercise bike or that torture machine also known as the elliptical. :scared:

I am finding I really enjoy running. Now, don't get me wrong, as I am running everyday, I am playing a mind game with myself saying ... "you can go one more time around the track, don't whimp out!". But I love how it makes me feel after I have run, even later in the day.

LOL, I do like how I feel after running and sometimes even during a run. :lmao:

What a good friend you are to help with the wallpaper stripping! :flower3:

Be back later to finish!

I'm going to have to look at Buffy's tutorial again for multi-quotes but will do a few from memory while I wait for my new tires.

Kristina hope you continue to feel better.

Trina hope you are feeling better soon.

Dona and Kaiti your trips will be here before you know it.

One week and I'll be at DL :yay:

This is harder than I thought so will finish later

Enjoy every minute of your marriage and your motherhood. When your husband tells you 10 times a day (no exaggeration) he loves you, instead of blowing him off, look deep into his eyes, kiss him, and tell him you love him too. You won't be carrying around the guilt you are now if you do that daily.

-----------

I'm down 2 pounds this week. I still haven't heard back from this hematologist office and its been over a week. I'm getting highly pissed off. Someone better give me answers on Monday or heads are going to roll. I'm tired of getting blown off by people.

Going tomorrow and getting a pedicure, eye brows waxed, and possibly a haircut. I'm anxiously awaiting UPS' arrival! I ordered some things from Books A Million and they should be here today. I got a book, a movie, and a CD. I didn't even realize (until I ordered it) that Kenny Chesney had a new album out.

We're having stuffed peppers and cornbread for dinner. I'm going to get some strength training and 30 minutes of cardio in today.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Great quote, Buffy!

Happy birthday to your DS. :bday: He is a young man to be proud of. :cool2:

My "baby" is turning 13 this week-end. I totally feel your pain on the "knowing everything." I hear "Mom, you grew up in the 60's . . . this is the 21st century" a lot. :rotfl:

I would tell my teenage self not to let yourself go -- it's too hard to get yourself back. And don't sweat the small stuff. :hippie:

ITA! ::yes::

And a big  for your baby going to college in the fall.

I took the day off today. I got a lot done so I can hang out and drink a beer and take a nap this afternoon. :beach:

I would tell myself to not be so afraid or worry about the what if's so much. I was always too nervous to try new things. I missed out on doing so much. I am hoping my kids don't miss out on anything for fear of the unknown.

I have a new appreceation for those who go without insurance. I have insurance but i'm in the process of switching and i don't have an insurance card. I went to the walk in and basically had to pay $50 for them to tell me that they didn't want to do a strep swab because it would have cost me more money and to prescribe me vicodin! Vicodin for a sore throat, I've never heard of such a thing!

So despite going to the walk in I feel no better. My boss told me I can go ahead and try to find someone to work for me tomorrow, but i still don't know anyone at the new job that well and i felt weird calling everyone so i will suck it up. I just wish my job wasn't speaking all day long.

At least the only other symptom I have is a cold sore, or the beginning of one. (Those are the WORST) but I got some Abreva so hopefully that takes care of that.

For now, more rest, and popsicles, cause thats about all i can eat at the moment. Even soup hurts!

I'm going to go ahead and post the QOTD for Saturday now, I intend to sleep in tomorrow!!

Quote of the Day
The reason people give up so fast is because they tend to look at how far they have to go instead of how far they have gotten.

Today is about perspective. If we look at something head on all we see is a big wall, but if we take just a few steps to the side, we can catch a glimpse of the edge, or maybe a brick that is weaker than the others. Some way we can find our way through or around that wall.

I asked Mike (mykelogan, from the journal forum) to do this when he was having a bit of a struggle and my QOTD is inspired by my Quote of the Day.

List the things that you couldn't do before you started your journey, that you can do now.
Now make a list of short term and long term goals for when you reach the next stage of your wellness.

***********************************

Things I couldn't do before.

Breathe at night laying flat on my back.
Be comfortable laying on my stomach.
Climbing the hill to the kids school from the parking lot without getting winded.
Run for a full minute or more.
Use a regular size bath towel.

Things I will do:

El Camino de Santiago (500 mile walk through Spain) Summer 2013
Run 1/2 marathon (January 2013)
Run full marathon (January 2018)
Ride the Harry Potter ride at Universal
Walk straight through a turnstile at WDW

Hi everyone!! Sorry to have been so absent from the forum lately!! Buffy, your question made me think back to the brave young woman I was... and feel sad for the frightened woman I became in my 30s. I would tell teenage Sunny to stay true to herself, to continue to trust her instincts, and to remember that she is her own harshest critic... and therefore potentially her own best fan. I would ask her to be kinder to herself on her thirties... Or at least to know that her 40s would be spectacular...

In other notes, I have been slowly but steadily moving the needle on the scale in the right direction. Hope everyone is well!!!

Thanks everyone for the "get better" wishes.

I finally was feeling 100% yesterday. I got some strength training in, tracked all my meals, stayed within range, and hit my water count.

Today I did strength training, a 11 minute cardio video on Sparkpeople, and a late night swim (100 laps). I tracked all my meals, stayed within range, hit my water count, and am still going strong on keeping all these meds straight. :)

I wound up changing hematologist yesterday (its after midnight). I called the old one and again got a voicemail. I finally got fed up and called Tricare. I explained the situation and told them who I wanted in a new doctor (I had already looked her up, verified that they took my insurance, and gave them all my info.) The lady at Tricare changed everything in the computer and sent them my referral within the hour.

Now, the new office will call me back Monday and set up my apt. All I need is blood work done to determine if I can get off my blood thinners. Then they'll send that info to my RE and she can determine from there what our plan of action is.

****TMI ALERT****

I take my last Provera pill today. This means that I should have a TOM come around on Monday. I'm anxious because that means I'm one step closer to getting this show on the road. However, the last time I had a drug induced cycle I was a bear to live with for 4 days. Luckily, Alan is a patient man and he knows its coming so he can hide away for a few days, LOL.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I need to get to bed..
