Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

CC finally got a chance to look at the recipes you found-they're brilliant-definitely going to give some of them a try:thumbsup2 Thanks for all the effort you put into this:)

Glad you like them! :cool1:

How are you feeling Tracy?

I love the "free" feeling of summer. We don't have to rush in the evenings to get ready for school the next day, so everyone can be outside playing or cooking out or even having mini-bonfires! I also love picnics with my family, and we do those all the time in the warmer weather. This summer I am particularily looking forward to relocating up to Michigan.

Sounds great! :cool1:

Whoo hoo!! Congratulations Trina and everyone else, including me!!:cool1: Just what I need today. I have veered out of the wagon, just one of those busy weeks, boss bought lunch one day, cake the next and I was not strong. Mcdonalds night fundraiser for school, and yada yada yada. Last night I did get my buttocks back in the wagon, made a big salad for dinner and lunch today, hard boiled some eggs to have a high protein bkfast, and am feeling a little more in control. And the scale is only up .8 so I still stand a chance of a maintain at least this week.:thumbsup2

Thank you CC. You are so sweet. I don't know how many times in a year I get back in the wagon, but it does fall with my motto, of NEVER GIVE UP!!

So here I am again, freshly back in the wagon, and ready to stay there. Again! I know I sound like a broken record, but it is what it is, and some times other things in life get the best of me, and I lose control and focus.

You’re welcome! :goodvibes for a loss or maintain. I know you will never give up! :thumbsup2

My DD had the best day!:good vibes She loved the professor, enjoyed campus and even really liked the two classes she sat in on (architectural and constructional engineering). She's really thinking of heading that direction in her college choices now. Quite a bit different from music ed.... It will be interesting to see what path she takes in life. It is so fun to see the world laid out at their feet.....

I sat in on a 300 level Spanish class when I toured my college. I barely knew how to say hola, but I learned how wonderful the professors are so it was worth it. Glad she had a great day! :yay:

#1 having kids home!!!!!

:cool1:

But I do love cooking outdoors and getting to swim in the pool!!

BBQ can be very healthy food. :thumbsup2 Hope your allergies clear up fast. :goodvibes

Okay, I am not going to post mesurements or specifics, but lunch would be a grilled chicken salad and dinner would be sirloin tips with grilled mushrooms and onions, steamed broccoli, and a half of a baked sweet potato.

Sounds delicious! :cool1:

NO WORK ALL SUMMER!!!! (teacher)
vacation
laying on my front porch or back deck and reading

No work (almost) always makes for a great day. :yay:

No school, the pool, planting our garden, bike riding, the smell of suntan lotion, WDW vacations, all my friends coming back from college for the summer!

Enjoy your visits/time with your friends! :cool1:

Summer QOTD: I just love summer. Sandals, sundresses, heat, bring it on! I'm a summer baby (August 1st!), so I think I'm wired for the season. I have been loving the stretch of unseasonably warm weather we've been having here - a summer preview!

I would love it to be 80 all year long!

I ran another C25K workout yesterday - the first one with more jogging than walking! It was difficult, but I was so proud of myself at the end. :) Yesterday and today, I also did 30-day shred, and I'll do another C25K tomorrow before we leave to bring DDs to my MIL's for spring break. We're staying down for the weekend, so I'm hoping to do a C25K there, but I might also just take Saturday off.

Have a great weekend! :goodvibes

It's been such a weird week. I'm feeling really good about my health and fitness journey (and people are really noticing!), and I've reconnected with a couple of old friends. But then the loss of our friend Jack has hit hard, and I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster. I'm proud to say that I haven't fallen back on food as a comfort cushion, with the exception of a cheeseburger and fries lunch at the place we always went to with Jack when he visited us here. But even that worked into my WW plan for the day, and it sure did make me feel better.

Nice job! :cool1: So sorry for your loss.

Sorry about the nightmares :( I wish you restful sleep and peaceful Disney dreams!
Great meals CC! I absolutely love that you posted the Hungry Girl site! I had not seen that before. I love that she does the WW points! Thank you!:thumbsup2

Thanks to both! :) I actually think there may have been some Disney in those nightmares-something about my father and his Blackberry. I don’t have a lot of rules, but I do not think someone should be so tied to work that they have to respond to e-mail while on a ride. Not to mention that either does WDW. He didn’t, but it certainly pinged a few times while on quite a few rides. :rolleyes1

Warm weather (which we absolutely love and crave here in northern Minnesota), being able to have some porch time, just relaxing and enjoying nature, running outside, and the kids not being in school. This allows us to start our mornings off at a less frenetic pace and just enjoy each other. I love being able to not worry so much about bedtime too. And not worrying about taking them out of school for Disney trips, which we do frequently when school is in, because we feel they learn as much as they learn at school every time we go. This year we have an annual pass to WDW (first time) and we have been going every 3 to 4 months.

I loved being able to stay up late during the summer! Enjoy your trip to WDW! :goodvibes

Hello everyone! Things have been going pretty ok here. Exercise-wise its great- having a workout schedule that I hold myself accountable to is the key, for me. I know people will notice if I'm not there. Eating-wise, its a little harder. I'll be OP until after dinner, then sit down and have extra snacks as I'm unwinding or watching TV. Its so much harder for me to eat OP than exercise OP. I'm on WW, and don't end up going over my weekly points in any given week, but I think that for great weight loss I will have to stay strictly on my regular daily points (28 per day) and see how that goes.

Snacking is one of my (many) downfalls. I try to plan it into my day ahead of time and I think that helps. I’ve heard people do better when they know they can eat dessert. I’ve also heard people do better when they eat dessert with breakfast. I haven’t found the perfect solution for me yet. I know I am one of those people who has to keep her body guessing. Good luck! :goodvibes

QOTD for Thursday, 3/29: Now that spring has started, we can think about summer. What is it about summer that you love the most? You are welcome to have more than one thing.

Swimming in our pool
Watermelon
Our garden fresh veggies

My two week vacation to HHI, BWV and THV!!!! DS15 will be going to overnight camp for 2 weeks - trying to get him to go 4 weeks. The girls are starting to "circle the house". Very aggressive creatures. :rotfl:

:furious: I can NOT believe it. I have been a SAHM for the last 16+ years. I finally get a great job opportunity (even if it is temporary ) and what happens? I GET A FLIPPING JURY SUMMONS! :headache::mad: I am sure it won't be a big problem but still, I won't get paid and certainly would much rather be working then at the courthouse. And, while the "Jury Service Handbook" says to bring something to do like needlework they don't allow sewing or knitting needles in the courthouse.

I am not even sure how I would be able to serve on a jury. I truly need a bathroom break about once an hour (sometimes more frequently!) and my hip stiffens up if I sit any longer than that anyway (sometimes more frequently!). I am guessing they don't take breaks every hour.

I am so ticked off and frankly worried. I am a good demographic to be picked and I really don't want to be trying to "hold it" and/or in pain the whole time. And if that happens I probably won't be paying much attention to what is going on.

Will try to pop back on later. Fairly good eating day so far, but been hungry all day for some reason. Need to enter it all into the WW tracker and see what is left for dinner.

There should be somewhere on the form you can put it off for a different date. There should be instructions too on any physical reasons why you can't perform your duty - I think you just need to get a Doctors note for your inability to sit for long periods. I was on a murder trial and we were constantly being removed from the court room. Believe me - they aren't working long days. Six hours tops, with a one hour break for lunch. The judge we had was Judge Zibell - made famous by the Nanny trial here in Boston. Good luck.

Janis

Janis- I'll take 4/20-4/26...kids are on vacation so I will have some extra time in the mornings to post, etc!

Had a good day food and exercise wise. I did 35 minutes on the elliptical burning about 500 calories. I then did most of my arm workout. I just did my ab workout and for the 2nd night in a row I was able to do the whole minute of plank at the end of the workout! I have also had lots of water today.

Watching Big Bang Theory right now! Funniest show on tv!

Working tomorrow and then buying Easter cards for my parents and running to orthodontist to make an appointment for Izzie and picking up a receipt!

Planning on getting up at 5 to work out if I can get my lazy bones up! Hoping to go see Hunger Games tomorrow night so I had better behave and get my workout in early!

Well I have some goods news to share! Turns out I do not need to find a new major! I can still get into the school of education! Such a relief. I mean I might still not get in when it comes time to apply, but I meet all the requirements. So i will be applying to the school of education in the fall.

Other than that i feel a bit stressed about money. I basically have none and I need to pay the "in laws" for disney. I'm just really not sure what to do. My mom is in a mood lately and tells me school is the most important thing and then says she wants me to work more days. I just need to concentrate on school but I also need to work, and I need to look for internships, and i need to get ready for the praxis.

This weekend will be spent working and doing homework. I was supposed to do homework tonight but I'm feeling tired and a bit run down so I will just save it for tomorrow.

I made a very yummy dinner tonight. I made a marinade of some spices, salsa, and lime juice and marinated some chicken, and then sauted some mushrooms, garlic, tomatoes, onion (white and green) and some assorted spices with some kidney beans and rice and mixed it all together. I didn't count the calories but there was nothing in there that was a lot of calories so im thinking it was ok. It was yummy though, especially for having made it up as i went along.

All your summer things had me thinking about summer...summer to me just means tons to work which isnot really fun. I do like the warmer weather and being able to run outside, but summer is never relaxing because I just have to work a lot since i dont have school full time, and i take summer classes. I find school a lot more fun than work, so I think that makes me dislike summer.

That's great news!! I'm sure you will do well and get in! :goodvibes Hope you get un-stressed soon. Money is always a problem, it seems, isn't it?

I love your meals! May I come over with Stitch? lol. Are you a vegeterian? I am. Good luck on the 5K! Go get 'em!! I hope you signed up!

Well, sure! I am, indeed, a vegetarian! Only since about October, but I'm loving it. :goodvibes

Thanks! I did end up signing up for the 5k!
Enjoy your visits/time with your friends! :cool1:
Buffy

Thanks!

I did end up signing up for the 5k, thanks for all the encouragement! I sat and thought and thought, and just did it quickly and because there is no refund that means I have to go. :rotfl: I know I can do it in about 45 minutes I'm just nervous because I don't want to be last or be the one and only person who is ridiculously slow. I know, I know, last beats those who didn't try. I'll let everyone know how it goes! It'll be my first race ever! :woohoo:

Speaking of college, I actually declared my graphics major yesterday, yahoo! That means I get to start working on my degree in the Fall! :yay:

Well, I only went over about a 100 calories ONE day this week, and all the other days I was at or under due to all my exercise. Still, the scale always makes me nervous. Here is to a good weigh-in tomorrow! Good luck everyone!

Hi!:wave2:

My name is Fran and I will be your coach for the week. I picked this week since I am on Spring Break starting on Saturday.

I will probably post the QOTD in the evenings and reply to people throughout the day.

QOTD for Friday, March 30

Select one statement that is you. Now, decide how you could change this statement for at least one week.

I am a junk-food junkie.
I eat under stress.
I eat for other reasons besides being hungry.
I skip meals.

I don't eat breakfast. I am usually running out the door and stop at Brugger's Bagels for my daily, large cup of coffee. (I tend to count this as my breakfast ... which isn't very healthy!) I picked up some 100 calorie English muffins this week and plan to have an English muffin and some fruit for breakfast.

My son has struggled with his weight and he is in a weight loss study at our Children's hospital. We have gone now for many years and I credit our visits to my son keeping his weight under control (not that he hasn't struggled). Anyway ... the nutritionist we have seen has told us repeatedly that studies have shown if you eat breakfast, it cuts down on snacking at night.

Good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow. I hope you are a BIG LOSER!

Hi Fran! :flower3:

I've done them all but I'm most guilty of skipping breakfast or just eating a fiber bar... :guilty: So I'm going to try to get up earlier to make sure I get a good breakfast.

So I had a wild hair and decided to paint my toenails this evening. Why I don't know cause I hate painting my nails. But I do like putting this little guy on my toes... :goodvibes

Boredom I think
Food's my favorite thing lol.

Stop watching food shows for 1 week--harsh but I think I could do it. Plan things that are fun/interesting.

I am feeling a little better-- the crappy crud settled in my chest so it's good I went and got antibiotics. The cough syrup with codeine is definitely making life more pleasant. I've coughed so much my pelvic floor is rebelling--every time I cough now, :scared1: so I tried a cough remedy involving apple cider vinegar, red pepper, honey and ginger-- so far surprisingly so good. I've been tracking all my food-if I do this 2 weeks I'll get in the habit and this week since all i've had going on is laying around watching movies and working sporadically-- I've been able to struggle through that. On my days off I've just been sleeping, watching tv and movies, reading, and all with my constant friend the humidifier. I did clean some one day simply so I have one room where there's not so much dust. I am feeling pretty disgusting right now and very impatient with the duration of this bug. I know I made it worse by working like I did the first week, but I also think if I hadn't been taking care of myself and all the vitamins and herbs I took may have helped with some symptoms. I guess it evened out.
When I am better though, there's no stopping me.

Hello to all my Biggest Loser comrades.

This has been a crazy week as I prepare for my vacation...which officially starts in just a few hours. I have been away fom the Boards but ot away from the challenge.

I am excited to report a loss of 5 pounds this week. I had a good week though busy.

I shared with my Donald friends that one of my reasons for wanting to lose weight is that I want to be able to fly on an airplane without having to ask for an extension for the seat belt. Well in only a few hours I will be on a plane and will see how successful I have been in reacing this goal. I feel very confident about it actually but I can imagine how wonderful the feeling will be if/when the seat belt simply goes, CLICK¨

I will do my best to report in over the vacation but no guaratees on that. Though I will guarantee that I will keep the challenge in mind and strive to maintain if not lose while I am on the ships.

Good luck to all on the scale today.

Christopher

Good Friday morning everyone. We made it to Friday.

I am so glad that this week is up. I know I still have one more day of work to get through. I have a meeting during my prep period this morning. I got observed the other day and this is the follow up meeting. The class went well. It also helped that it was calc and my observer used to teach calc with me before she became a supervisor.

We were talking the other day about a problem that has come up. We have a new person teaching calc with me this year. She does not like it. She doesn't want to do it any more. This person was going to be my replacement for when I retire. I know it is not my problem about my replacement for something that is going to be 3 years from now but I do worry. I have had a very successful run with the AP calc classes. My grades are consistently above the national averagge and I am very proud of that. I would like to keep the program in good shape but I am retiring in 3 years. I can't worry about this but it is the back of my mind.

BernardandMissBianca Everyone (especially those with kids) are entitled to a pity party. My ds1 got me into a pissy mood when he told me he was going with his friends to calif for a long weekend (we live in jersey). He told me it is not a bachelor party but all the guys and some of the girl friends are going. This is the same guy who complained that he had to pay taxes this year. He is coming with us to Fl and is supposed to pay for him and his gf. This just set me off the other day. Good luck.

cclovesdis thanks for coaching this week.

Mary•Poppins welcome as this week's coach.

trinaweena congrats on being able to go into your major this fall. My ds1 did not have the grades or the time to get into the education program at his school. I wish he had. He might have a full time job by now.

::Snow_White:: congrats on being able to declare your major and start your major classes. It must be a good feeling.

belledreamer love the toes. I may have to do something like that before I leave in Aug.

50sjayne Hope you are feeling better today.

Hi to everyone else that I missed.

Off to get dressed for work.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Morning fellow losers!

Happy to say that I have found the 150s again! It's been since the beginning of this challenge since I've seen it. Down 2.2 this week! Just got off of the elliptical, 45 minutes 600 calories! Didn't think I'd make the 2nd 20 minutes but I got watching a movie and focused on that and not my heavy breathing!

Working and doing errands today! Izzie has her first sleepover tonight and Brian, Ash and I will have dinner somewhere and then go see Hunger Games again! This will be Brian's first time.

Trinaweena-Glad you heard the news you wanted! I hate stressful situations!

QOTD-I eat when I am stressed. I try to do some sort of exercise when I am stressed instead. Once the weather improves a bit more I will start taking walks outside at least once a day. Soccer starts next week so I will get walking in during that 2-3 nights a week unless I get called into work.

TTFN :tigger:

Thanks Donac!

Hope you have a wonderful vacation Chris!! Let us know how the flight goes! :goodvibes

Good morning! It is my first official gain (although only .2) since I started this journey. I am proud I have made it this far without a gain but man, it is pretty gut wrenching to see a + number on that scale.

I just have to keep reminding myself that the scale is not the only indicator of health! I was able to keep up with my 30 Day Shred really well last night and I am doing my 5k tomorrow! Definitely is making me refocus!

I have a question for anyone who has an answer. I have been on MFP this morning and have been thinking of upping my calories a bit. I am at 1350 a day right now and I don't eat back my exercise calories so my net is around 1100 a day. I have been losing anywhere from .4-2.6lbs since the beginning of this journey except for this week. My BMR however, is about 1500 and I keep reading you should never eat under that amount. I am considering upping my calories to 1500 a day. I usually workout 6 times a week. I will run anywhere from 1-5 miles 3 times a week (either outside or on the treadmill) and the other 3 days I am doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. This week I was under my calories or at my calories for weight loss 6/7 days and still ended up gaining. I'm aware it could just be a stall and I'll end up dropping some next week (usually one week it is .6 and the next is is over 2lbs!) but even for future reference this would be nice. I have been doing fine with this limit on calories and have never felt deprived but I'm wondering if I'm working hard enough that upping my calories would be beneficial.

Thanks for any of your help!
Hope you all have a great weigh-in and have a wonderful and healthy day!

I have like 30 seconds but just wanted to say today has been a bit better so far although DD is testing my patience with breakfast choices, no nachos is NOT a good choice!!!!
Anyway I watched what I ate last night and was only 50 calories above my allotment for the day, I'm ok with that. And when I stepped back on the scale this morning I was back down that darn pound! :woohoo: So I am 2 pounds away from the 180's!! YEE HAW!!!

I hope everyone has an awesome stress free day today!! I'm going to try to get in a workout to decompress before the kiddos come home! See y'all tonight!

Watching Big Bang Theory right now! Funniest show on tv!

Love Big Bang Theory! Sheldon cracked me up last night with all his lies lol.

Hi Fran and thanks for coaching!

I am totally a stress eater. I have been doing well with it the last couple of weeks by working out and eating a healthy snack instead. I've been beyond stressed about money since DH is spending about $60 more per week to drive to his clinical site for school. It's a combination of gas and tolls. It's starting to add up & we are feeling the pain since it's now been 3 months and we have 2 more to go!

Just a quick pop in before I head to my first class of the day. It's my middle schoolers and they drive me crazy! :scared:

I'll be back later after my lunch break to check in. Hope everyone has a great weigh in :)

This week I pledge to find more productive ways to manage my stress. Walking, running, scrapping, and I dug out my cross stitch stuff. I have a project I've been working on for 4 years. I won't eat when working with paper or cloth so hopefully I can make some progress on my project and I can keep the snacking down to a minimum.

I have a food question for everyone. Wether you count calories or points, what is your percentage for each meal or snack?
You don't have to share your number if you don't want to, but I'd like to know how you space it out.
I was aiming for 33/33/33% to be across the board but no I'm not sure how to do that. It seems like dinner is still way up there percentage wise which doesn't seem right. Right now I have my fitnesspal aimed at 1200 a day, not sure if that's a right number either but it seems accurate.

Any suggestions, comments?
