Biggest Loser 9 Spring challenge -- Part 2! HERE WE ARE! :)

Hello Guys! This will be SHORT!

At noon today we were listening to Disney music and decided to drive to WDW! Yep, that was at noon and it is 3:00 my time, we are hoping to be on the road within the hour. We are driving!

So, I will not be online until next week! Hope you all have a great week!

Jen:upsidedow

I love it!!! Have a blast! :cool1:

Well, I was totally out of control yesterday. I really think I ate most everything in site from 12-6. Pulled it together for the evening hours, but was up 1.5 this morning. Felt like a loser, that's for sure!

Did NOT want to run, I usually can't wait. Went out and did it anyway, and it was probably one of my worst mental runs ever! The first 10 minutes were torture, the last 5 weren't much better. I did do 3.22 miles in 38 minutes, with an avg. of 11.47, according to my new nike+ sensor. It also said I burned 450 calories! I think I'm really going to like it. I got a little velcro case to attach to my shoes.

Anyway, I am hopefully back on track! At least I feel like I've won the mental battle, now to get the scale to start agreeing soon!

Hi BL pals
I was looking on the WW website tonight and came across this member's website. I thought some of you might be interested in what she has to say. She has some interesting thoughts on choosing a goal weight:

http://goingskiing.webs.com/choosingagoalweight.htm

And on losing the last 5-10 pounds:

http://goingskiing.webs.com/laststubborn10pounds.htm

And a bunch of other stuff, but I'll leave it at that! :)

Thanks for sharing! I typed up a detailed reply and I lost my internet connection! Let's just say, this gave me lots to think about and I'm hoping I will be able to start putting things into perspective.

Been pretty good today. Off to my Irish Step Class in a few minutes. It is pouring here and there is a major problem in our town right down the road from dancing. Two gigantic pumps stopped in front of the studio while I was there for DD1s lesson. A culvert completely collapsed and there is major flooding and they have had to take the road apart. We actually have to stop and tell a police officer that we are going to the dance studio as the road is blocked for all other traffic. We are expecting 3-6 inches of rain between now and Wednesday. We have had over 11 inches of rain this month. A new record in MA.

Say a prayer for all of those people with flooding near them! They are certainly going to need it!

Definitely thinking of you. I hope your house is okay. I haven't heard from my DBIL/DSIL who live in Seekonk. Have you heard anything about flooding there?

Sorry haven't heard anything about Seekonk. Our neighborhood is fine. We are kind of on a hill so knock on wood we are ok. Had a tiny bit of water last week but we didn't really notice it until after.

Irish Step class got canceled. One of the ladies didn't show up and the other called me right before I left to say she had twisted her knee getting out of her car so we will just add another week to our class. I wasn't up to dancing alone.

Sitting down watching DWTS and having some spicy dip and chips. Not much of it left so I won't over do it! Having some green tea with it!

Hoping there is little to no wind so I can sleep tonight.

Have a good night everyone!

Sorry for three posts in a row, but I'm home on Spring Break and the girls are playing in the backyard, the house is clean, I'm kind of tired, and sitting in my glider with my laptop on my lap is hitting the spot right now.

This is a really tough recipe :rotfl:

One box mix: :rotfl:Pillsbury Quick Bread Cranberry

place dry mix in mixing bowl, add one can of diet orange soda and mix. Bake as directed on box.

That is super easy! :lmao:

Whoo hoo!!!!!!:cool1: You should be gleeful!!! 30 pounds is awesome, and such a great feeling to be back to pre pregnant weight.

It is a great feeling! That puts me about a third of the way to where I want to end the weight loss part of this getting healthy journey.

As for the speed, 12 minute mile is actually great - a lot of people would love to have that pace!

Yep, I concur! I started the C25K program at the beginning of January and I'm now "running" 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes at a time, but just under a fifteen minute/mile pace. I'd love to improve to a 12 minute mile. I'm not complaining, mind you! :goodvibes I figure it will likely come in time and I'm happy where I'm at.

Sorry to be ranting about this AGAIN (I think I just did this last weekend. :confused3 ) PLEASE don't feel it necessary to respond, reply, or quote. I know you are all there for me if I need it. I just needed to vocalize my mental dialogue.

 to you! I didn't feel it necessary to respond but wanted to let you know that I hope all your hard work starts coming together for you soon. I thought the links Corrina posted were exceptional reading. And, though it might not make you feel better right now, reading about your struggles is helpful to me (and probably others) to know what to expect when we get to where you are now. Look at how far you've come! You're truly an inspiration.

Just talked to Redwalker and her beloved dog Xena passed away this morning.

Redwalker, my heart goes out to you and your family. I'm so sorry for the loss of the furry member of your family.:hug::hug:

You're right about my user name - I got married at WDW on 6-2-05. Also, Princess Bride is probably my fave movie of all time.

That's so sweet! And Princess Bride is one of my all time favorite movies, too!

My sister is aiming for the Devine formula or "ideal body weight", which is 100 pounds for a 5-foot woman and 5 add'l pounds for each inch above that. She is 5'6" - so she's aiming for 130. (100+[5 lb x 6 inches]) This formula is used on a number of weightloss websites, but is probably too low for most people, and really low for short women.

Rose, I thought the discussion you started was very interesting with everyone's input on goal weight. I found this one interesting since at 5'9" I should weight 145 according to the Devine scale. That's where I was where I was happiest way back in college (twenty years ago!). It's close to where I was aiming (148) as a nice round 100# loss goal. After reading the links Corrina gave, I think I'll keep it as a possible goal, but re-evaluate when I get closer to the "Happy Weight Formula" weight for me which is 162 (http://www.self.com/calculatorsprograms/calculators/happyweight).

Check out Title Nine and Bare Necessities online for extended sizes. Title Nine has a ton of different sports bras and a rating system for intensity. They even have something called a Last Resort Bra.

I was also going to recommend Title Nine (http://www.titlenine.com/category/sports-bras-and-undies.do?nType=1). Just be cautious in whatever bra you choose that it fits well and is not digging into your breasts at any spot. Even non-wire bras can lead to mastitis if they are pressing into and block one of your milk ducts!

I've already referenced this, but want to thank you for posting it. I almost didn't read it since I'm still so far from even the upper end of my goal weight range and certainly nowhere close to the last 5-10 pounds. But I thought the author gave excellent and sensible advice on much more than how much weight to lose.

Ended up with the flu, which is a horrible way to come back to work.

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well! Hope you are on the road to recovery soon.

I finished my Christmas shopping in October last year so I took advantage of the Thanksgiving night sales and got a majority of my Easter shopping done that night (after standing in line at Wal-Mart for 3.5 hours!). I just need to pick up some treats for their baskets and a few movies (New Moon for DD13, Princess and the Frog for DD3 and Alvin and the Chipmunks for DS5).

Wow! Can I just say I am amazingly impressed by this! I always say I'm going to finish shopping for Christmas in October, but every year I'm surfing the web trying to come up with ideas for people at the beginning of December! :scared1:

Good luck with the water issues. Its always something with a house isn't it. I was only 23 when we bought our house and if I knew how much maintanance there was going to be, I think I would have waited.

I have not been doing well at all. Pizza is my down fall and I have had it 3 times over the weekend and overate everytime. Then tonight I went out to eat and ate sweet potato fries and cheese and potatoe soup! I could just kick myself.

Tomorrow is a new day and I am kicking it into gear! I would really love to become vegan so I am going to slowly start working my way there. I love cheese and it kills me to think of not having it again, but I am going to experiment with almond and soy cheese and see if anything is worth calling lovely cheese.

I have been obsessed with this show on bbc america called "You Are What You Eat". The Dr.'s name is Gillian McKeith and she kicks peoples bums! She is into fresh foods and mostly fruits and veggies, though some non red meat and fish. She also believes in a lot of raw veggies and fruits. I went and got 2 of her books. They are really interesting and once you start reading about food, its really amazing. Its really crazy what the government allows into our foods. Other countries ban things because they are dangerous, but the US still allows it. Gillian McKeith doesnt say too much about what you shouldn't eat, but pushes you to try new foods and eat less processed foods. For the next 3 days I am going to try to follow a vegan diet with little or no processed foods. I have a terrible problem with energy and many things I am reading are saying its the processed foods that could be making me feel that way. I am going to try and take it 3 days at a time and see how it goes. Anyone can do something for 3 days right????? :confused3

I hope you are all doing well. Keep strong. We can do this!!!

I picked my goal weight to be 154... anything lower than that and my face starts to look too skeleton-y. My hubby thinks that when I get to 154 I will want to be lower... but I think I like 154 (even though it actually puts me at 4 pounds over the government's "healthy" scale for my height... Idon'tevencare!)
Good for you picking a goal weight that will work for you. My DH is short so he would have to be 145 to no longer be considered overweight. He's a stocky, muscular build, so he looks pretty fit in the 150s.

]I don't think I have a healthy favorite at Disney. I've never had to eat healthy when I have been there. My favorite healthy food when I dine out is a grilled chicken sandwich. I eat the bottom bun only. We went to Famous Dave's on Saturday and I ordered a Grilled Chicken Sandwich and fries. I ate the bottom bun and the chicken and 5 fries. I was blessed with great willpower.

I bought some Girl Scout cookies the other day from my neighbor (darn her cute kids!). Two boxes and I haven't eaten one cookie! Yeah me!
Nice willpower! :thumbsup2

That's so awesome! Can't wait to hear about your trip when you get back!

3/27 Saturday QOTD: What's your favorite exercise to do with others? Is there an exercise you get the whole family involved in?

This was a fantastic question and the reason why this forum is so good for me and my family! We hadn't been doing much that involved the whole family. I'm running, DH goes to the gym, DD1 does ballet and has just started swim team (she's enjoying it and I don't care about records, but hope she'll follow pjlla's DD's footsteps and win a sportsmanship award!), DD2 is just your typically active preschooler though she did ask to start ballet and I'll probably have her do gymnastics once the school year is over and I've got the summer off with more time to take her. So, we all have something active to do, but it's all seperate.

Yesterday morning, after thinking about this question the whole day before, I told DH I wanted to go on a hike together for the day. He was all for it and we brought out a book we'd bought years before when DD1 was still a baby (Best Hikes with Children Around Sacramento). It has about 60 or more different hikes you can do and rates them for children's ability levels. We found an easy two mile hike over by the American River and we had the best time! We're going to try to do this on a much more regular basis over the spring and get ready for a bigger hike/camping trip this summer.
Wow, I'm thrilled that my question prompted a cool hike and maybe more. That's something I'd love to get back to doing as a family.
Our exciting family exercise moment is that we just bought a BOB jogging stroller. I'm so excited about it!

I love it!!! Have a blast! :cool1:

Way to get back on track! Sometimes detours happen. Out of control eating was me last week. This happens at the beginning of our journey, and it happens at goal. Getting back on track as quickly as you can is the key. I heard this quote somewhere recently, "It's not how you fall, it's how fast you get back up."

Been pretty good today. Off to my Irish Step Class in a few minutes. It is pouring here and there is a major problem in our town right down the road from dancing. Very cool about working towards a vegan and less processed diet. When I was trying that (10 years ago now) - I never found cheese substitute I liked, but I did really like almond milk.
I was at a diet/nutrition seminar a few weeks ago, and the speaker said that our bodies think white flour is exactly the same as sugar. Both cause the same type of quick energy and then crash. I imagine that idea links to processed foods. I'm struggling with balancing lack of processed foods with needing some convenience items with our busy lifestyle. We're working on it. ;)

Sorry so late but here's your QOTD Monday:
What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?

For me, I like to think about how far I've come. I don't want to let one setback meal or day turn into a pattern. I want to keep off the weight I've lost. I try to forgive myself for food-related setbacks. Sometimes I get in an extra workout if I feel like I've indulged too much.

Okay, I got all caught up again.

flipflopmom - glad to hear you are feeling better :goodvibes

princessbride - hope you find childcare that works for you, your child and your wallet.

dona - thanks for the COW's, I did think about the COW while on vacation, and am back on track with the COW for this week. :goodvibes

pjlla - belated congrats to your DD on her award. :grouphug: for your frustration and thanks for sharing :goodvibes

redwalker - :grouphug: for the loss of Xena

tigger813 - glad your DD's communion went well :thumbsup2 and that the flooding settles down in your area

CptJack - Happy belated birthday! Don't think about what treats you'll be missing at Easter, think about the wonderful treat your trip will be and the next surprise your mom will have for you at 10lbs. I'm a big believer in choices: right now you are choosing to have few or no Easter treats, because you want the weight loss and you can do it! ::yes::

QOTD Saturday: What's your favorite exercise to do with others? Is there an exercise you get the whole family involved in?

geocaching is our family outdoor activity. DH's got interested in it, because it combines technology with activity. He's not one to hike/walk just for the fun of it, but going on a hunt to find something using tech gadget and he's all into :lmao::thumbsup2. When the kids were younger it was really a workout as one of us would be packing the youngest, and I'd spend most of my time keeping kids amused if we got stuck finding something. Now that the kids are getting older, its getting more and more fun.:goodvibes

Sunday QOTD: This question is 2 parts and you can answer one or both. What is your favorite healthy food at WDW or DL? What is your favorite healthy food when dining out?

My favourite food at DL is definitely Bengal BBQ, where I love the bacon wrapped asparagus and the different meat skewers. I haven't actually looked at the nutritional value of any of it, but its a one time treat that seems reasonably healthy for inside of a park.
I also like the big dill pickle on a stick, frozen bananas, fresh fruit :thumbsup2
For eating out, lately I've been enjoying thai chicken pitas for "fast food" and in real restaurants, I tend to go for stir fry, where I eat most of the veggies and end up full before eating much of the rice/pasta under the veggies.

have a great trip!:cool1:

Sorry so late but here's your QOTD Monday:
What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?
.

Well, I am the Queen of setbacks, when I'm stuck or gain a few, I remind myself how much better I am than when I started the journey, and that all the small changes I've made are good and effective and that if I do what worked before, I will make progress again ::yes::

Good morning. Just a quick hello.

I hope no one gets flooded out. I can't believe how much it has been raining this month.

Off to my last day of school before vacation. It was pretty crazy yesterday but we took it slow and didn't let anyone bother me. Just took in stride.

HAve a good day oout there everyone. ONly 9 more hours before vacation:banana::banana::banana:

I hope your day goes better than mine did yesterday. That gorgeous full moon out there last night filled me in a little on my kiddos behavior. Man, they were jacked UP yesterday. Hoping for a better day today. So glad you have vacation. We had so much snow, our Spring Break has been reduced to Friday and Monday, and they've extended our school day by 15 minutes each day. Oh well, I enjoyed the time I had off then!

Monday's QOTD - Well, that happened last week. Thankfully, I didn't gain after not being able to exercise, but went off the eating deep end Sunday. Thankfully, I pulled it in and jumped in with a venganance yesterday. Lost 2.4 yesterday, so I am now back to Friday's weight. Only need to lose 2 more to get back to my big loss the day before last week's TOM. I feel rather bipolar at times like these. My "thin and fit inner self" and "overweight couch potato self" do battle. Not going to let that evil monster rear her head up again!

Have a great day everyone. Welcome back Shannon, sorry you had to come back to illness. Redwalker - sorry about Warrior pup.

I like the Happy Weight Formula as well. Depending on whether I go with medium or large frame my HW was (I think) 143-152. I see this as doable, and more important, maintainable. The college weight, I don't see happening, and even if I reached it I think I'd be constantly "dieting" to maintain. I've been feeling really tired and rundown the past week or so, and constantly working so hard to maintain does not sound fun. I still need to read the other article. So if I pick the 152 as a goal, I have 21 pounds to go.

Tracy--good luck with the rain. Last year we had crazy weather here over a 12 month period (obviously not everyday), but it got old after a while. Our kids normally miss one or two days of school for weather. They missed 10 that year. And of course it was Ds's senior year. Sending good thoughts your way for better weather.:goodvibes

Shannon--glad you're feeling better.

Jen--have a great trip!

I came home from work yesterday feeling lousy. I think I am just worn out. We were supposed to look at houses on Wed and I cancelled the appointment. I think it's just stress. Not any specific reason. I still worry about DS way too much. (He's a freshman, away at school--500miles). I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor for after Easter. My heart rate is doing funny things--nothing I can feel except when I take my resting heart rate--I'm not sleeping well, and I'm thinking my blood pressure is up. And I think I've been feeling borderline lousy for longer than I will admit to, I've just been ignoring it. I did tell DS this weekend how cruddy I was feeling and asked if he could please text an "I'm alive" message every other day or so, just so I would maybe not worry so much. Anyhow, I'm hoping that my Dr. will say I'm healthy and just need to work on not worrying so much. Sometimes I think just knowing nothing is wrong helps me to feel better.

Have a good day everyone. Time to get ready for work!

Good morning. I totally agree Dona, this rain has been unbelieveable. I hope everyone is ok. Watching the houses flooded out on the news is so heartbreaking. We are ok where we are, as long as I have electricity, and the sump pump works. I always get a little basement water, but it's been a lot this month. It's just a little inconvenience for me, but nothing in comparison. I have a busy early part of the week and hope to have more free dis-time later.

qotd- when I have a set-back, of which I've had many, I'm trying not to beat myself up over it, and dwell on it which makes it ten times worse. I try to take it one day at a time, and just keep plugging along.

Redwalker- so sorry about your precious puppy. :grouphug:

Tracey- glad you had a nice weekend for first communion, even though it was cool. Ours is may 1st, and I'm just hoping for no rain. My house is tiny, and it would be nice to be able to get out on the porches and in the yard. You reminded me I need to hem michael's suit.

Hugs to those struggling. Hang in there, don't give up. We will all reach our goals if we are patient and persistent.

Have a great day, and try to stay dry all you east-coasters. :)

Tuesday QTOD: I have way too many set backs these days. I am good about getting back on track the next morning, but that doesn't mean I'll stay on track. I was reading the article posted yesterday about losing those last 10 lbs. I really rang true that I know I "need" to lose them, but when I look in the mirror I realize that I don't look bad and I've come so far and I guess that is what wins out when I have choices to make. I also came to the conclusion yesterday that setting deadlines or rewards for myself that are months away does not work. I need to set mini, short term goals otherwise I feel like I have so much time to accomplish them, why try now. For example I want to weigh 130 lbs for our vacation at the end of July. I feel like I can attain that goal, but it is still 4 months out and my head says that I don't need that long to get there so subconsciously I choose not to attain it now. I'm working on figuring myself out and eventually I'll get there.

QOTD Monday:What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?

When I started all this, I made a list of things that work for me and things that are "Dangerous" for me. When I have a setback, I go back to those lists and make sure I'm doing the things that work and rededicate myself to avoiding the "Danger" actions.

Here's a blog post I wrote in June that includes my "Danger!" list

I am sort of in the thick of it even now, and I am going to need to keep my head in this game forever. After going up and down in weight my entire adult life, I am determined to figure out what I need to do to never, ever regret giving away my size 18 jeans a couple of weeks ago! I never want to go back there. And I say that every time.

But my brain is in a different place this time. For the first time I am fully accepting of the idea that I can never go back to the kind of careless, dangerous eating that is so easy to slip back into. I am a recovering overeater, and am always going to be one. It gets easier over time, but I can never truly say that I'm done.

The problem in the past has been that either I am on plan or I'm off the rails pretty quickly. This time I am working hard on mastering the idea of "flexible restraint," and that even if I do not count on vacation, there are still certain food guidelines that apply, and that even if I haven't counted points in a week, I can jump right back into counting right away.

Eight months ago, I wrote up a list of actions that got me to my heavier weights :

Danger! Danger!!

1. Cereal as a snack food.
2. Ice cream as a snack food.
3. Seconds at meals
4. Eating the kids' leftovers
5. Chocolate Chips and M&M's as a snack food.
6. Eating things just because they are there and they taste good.
7. Eating past my comfort level.
8. Putting too much cheese on things.
9. Sugary dessert on a daily (sometimes every meal!) basis.

At that time I could not see what my #10 on this list should be, but now I know.

10. Eating restaurant or take-out food on a daily basis.

Oh, and the beauty part? Today, none of these things is a regular problem for me anymore. Recognizing them as a problem has allowed me to overcome them. Thank goodness for that.

Strangely, I can't find my list of things I do when I'm on track...I think it was a physical checklist and I thought I had written it up online at one point but here is the summary:

1. Track my food
2. Work out at least 3 times a week
3. Read things about health, fitness and weight loss every day

There were a few others, but these are the BIG ones that have turned me around more than once.

Jenanderson- safe travels! Talk about spontaneous - have fun!

Rose and 3Tinks - I hadn't looked at that Happy Weight calculator in quite a while, but I put in my data and...I'll be darned, it basically said exactly what the scale did this morning- It's true - this is a pretty "happy weight" for me. I like this a lot better than that one where you put in your info and it tells you what other people of your height think they want to weight!

Princessbride - I don't know where I first read the 80-20 thing - I am thinking maybe in the some of the Eat-Clean materials? It does seem like a very sensible way to look at it!

As for me - More scenic painting for me today. I did manage to squeeze in a 3 mile treadmill run yesterday. And a bunch of pushups while watching last week's Biggest Loser, finally. And by a bunch, I mean 100! Though some of them were knee-push ups and a lot of those were triceps push ups, it's still a lot of push ups for me!

I am really glad to say that the scale is still hanging around the same basic neighborhood it has been for the past 12 weeks. I look at my weight graph and can now see that I've really been maintaining for nearly 3 months! I'm not sure what kind of celebration that merits, but it feels great!

I'm also glad so many people have enjoyed those links - She's got a lot of good thoughts on so many aspects of weight loss - when I stumbled upon her site, I was astounded! There was a quote on the goingskiing site that really resonated with me this week as regards maintaining and not continuing to lose:

Also set a LOW red line. When I hit 123, I take action and eat a few more calories for a day or two.

I think that it can be very seductive to see a new low number on the scale and to want to make that your new personal goal weight. Don't go there.

It is really easy to buy into media images or the saying, "You can never be too rich or too thin." Well, you CAN be too thin. A few people do end up going too low. Also, if you revise your personal goal with every little dip in the scale, you may fixate on a number which may not be maintainable in the long run.

Separate any body or self esteem issues that you have from your goal weight scale number. If you hate your butt or stomach, losing 5-15 lbs will probably NOT resolve this issue. Don't look for a scale number to make you happy about your body (or any other area of your life).

I know that if I lose a few more pounds, I also lose one point per day, so I don't want to go there, but this really makes it sound SENSIBLE to have a range with a top and a bottom rather than just a number not to go above.

QOTD Monday:What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?

I remember that I have been successful up until now. I can do it. I have had lots of setbacks recently and I will get there eventually!

Didn't get any exercise in today yet. I had to do errands and then go to DD1s school. Doing something for work right now and then going to try and thoroughly clean my house.

Good morning!

If you look up the word "crabby" in the dictionary today, you will see my face. I am beyond crabby. Ugh... teenage girls.

What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?

When I first started on my journey, I was letting the scale dictate my moods. If the scale went up a little, I would be incredibly upset and moody. After a few weeks, I decided that I was not going to let the scale tell me how I was feeling. When I go up a little, I tell the scale to bite me! I've lost 35+ pounds! Take that!

I don't have many setbacks anymore.

Have a fabulous vacation! :yay:

I love mini goals myself. They can be things as simple as fitting in 5 workouts that week. i like at least some of my mini-goals not to be scale related. At the end of the week you can treat yourself to something little like a song download on iTunes. I like to stop at our local tea shop and get one of their specialty hot teas (no milk or sweetener for me, so this stays no calorie).

Congrats on your 100 push-ups and 3 months of maintenance!

I like your attitude. Sorry you're feeling crabby today. Hope things improve!

Tuesday QOTD: I know in the past few weeks we've talked about finding time to exercise and balancing everything we have going on. I saw a fun question in the last issue of Real Simple: What's the funniest, craziest or most embarrassing thing you've done to save time? And my own follow up, do you have any time-saving tips for the rest of us? How do you fit in preparing healthy meals, exercise, and "me" time?

I watch that show sometimes (but lately it has been just repeats). I like the way that she shows people what they are eating now (and it always horrifies them... like "really?? you didn't KNOW you were eating/drinking all that CRAP??). But she is waaaay over the top for most people and I don't think that she is teaching them how to lose weight and maintain it for a LIFETIME. How many people do you know that are eating fastfood, pizza, etc now and are going to totally give it ALL up, immediately, cold turkey? Her diet is a bit extreme, but it does look super healthy!

And I am always SHOCKED at how poorly most of these people eat (and how they feed their kids ). No WONDER they are overweight and suffering from health issues... just shocking in some cases! Anyhow.... I believe some people raised some issues with her show because I don't think that there is any evidence to back up her claimed title of "doctor". Not sure what she even claims to be a doctor of (MD, PhD??). That said, she does have some excellent healthy ideas and recipes.

Sorry so late but here's your QOTD Monday:
What can you do to stay positive when you have a setback with your weight loss journey?

Well... as you all know, I have been faced with ongoing setbacks/plateaus lately. But I try to keep reminding myself that I am FAR better off at my current weight than I was at 219 pounds (where I was a few years ago). Even if I NEVER LOSE another pound and NEVER hit my goal of 130, I am fit and healthy RIGHT NOW.

I LOVE the idea of talking to my scale that way! I have been so frustrated by the number on my scale lately... I need to give it a little fresh talk! You're right... I've lost 82 pounds and my stupid scale can just kiss my grits!!

And my own follow up, do you have any time-saving tips for the rest of us? How do you fit in preparing healthy meals, exercise, and "me" time?

To save time..... well, in the past I have carried loads of clean laundry down to the pool deck to fold laundry while the kids were swimming (here at home, not at the Y :rotfl:) I've done kickbacks and high knee lifts while on recess duty at school to get in some exercise time.

I must admit.... I have really been letting the housework go to get in the exercise time and the "me" time (scrapbooking). I live with three slobs, so it is tough. But I am keeping up with the "cumulative" things like laundry and dishes, but relaxing on things like dusting, vacumming and such. And I haven't cleaned either of the kids rooms in ages.... and it shows!! I will fit in 5 minutes here and there as needed. I keep reminding myself that I don't need 2 hour time slots to get things done....I can unload the dishwasher in 5 minutes, I can start a load of laundry in 5 minutes, I can wipe the bathroom counter in 2 minutes.

Healthy meal time prep is tough. Lots of veggies means lots of time peeling and chopping. But I have broken down and started buying the prechopped salad greens. I didn't for a long time because it is more expensive, but my TIME is worth it and it gets eaten faster if it is already prepped.

I've found a few pretty basic healthy meals that I can have ready in under 20 minutes and those are kind of my "go to" meals when things get crazy and time is short. And the crockpot can be your friend, even when eating healthy. Not every crockpot meal is covered in cream of something soup and sour cream and cheese!

I got my Easter shopping done this morning, plus I ran a few other errands and picked up some sale items at the grocery store today.

I am so excited.... I got our Park Hoppers in the mail yesterday! DS is getting excited too! He is going to camp with school next week for three days... once that has passed the Disney trip will be nearly here (or so it will seem).

I've gotta run and pick up the kids for dentist appointments... then straight to the Y for DD's swim and my circuit class. BBL...........P
