Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

Last DIsney trip was in April! Best trip ever! Love AKV! Next trip will be next December to celebrate my 40th (b'day is actually in Aug.). We did it last year for my Dh's. I love the parks at Christmas and love the Holidays around the World!

Going to get back on track tomorrow. Haven't been home the last two days much. Was gone from 7-7 yesterday working at a fundraiser. Didn't eat much all day either. Gonna take today off and be MOM and only MOM! DH needs some time off for good behavior since he's been Dad full time the last two days. We're going to snuggle, watch movie, play games, make cookies and ready their rooms for their mini Christmas trees. Actually came home, snuggled with DD2, talked to DD1 and then put PBS on that had an Andrea Boccelli Christmas special on and slept off and on through the whole thing and then went to bed and fell to sleep pretty fast. I think I slept almost 10 hours which is very rare for me.

Gonna have our leftovers from Thanksgiving after DH picks up some gravy when he goes out.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Oh my what I would give to be 1 pound from goal. Someday....someday!
You'll get there too!! :thumbsup2

My last Disney vacation was three days at DL in August. My next Disney vacation is 8 nights at WDW with DH, DS and Mom and sister in just 19 short days! Thank goodness for our DVC! :thumbsup2

I have to say that DL is my favorite. It is the original park and the one that I grew up with. It is also where I sewed the names on the Mickey Mouse ears when I worked there more than 18 years ago! :earsboy:
Now it's 18 days away!!!! So exciting. How fun that you worked at DL. A friend of mine from work worked the college program at WDW, and loved it. She always contemplated joining us on one of our trips, but it never transpires. Her husband won't go there.

But it's never too soon to start planning! ;)
so true. I've planned many trips that I haven't taken yet thanks to the internet. I think Ireland will be the next big, non disney trip.

As for me -- Thanksgiving was good. I maintained this week. Unfortunately I hurt my back last weekend and wasn't able to exercise at all this week. So, I think a maintain is good for me! I may have to take a trip to the chiropractor this coming week as my back does not seem to be getting better. It's amazing - but I really miss going to the gym. And, I'm the one who said that I don't like working out and I don't look forward to it on a day-to-day basis. But, now that I haven't been able to work out all week - I'm feeling the difference and am itching to get back to the gym and doing my WATP videos. Amazing what a difference a few months makes :thumbsup2

Our last Disney vacation was cruise on the Magic this last September, followed up by a day at Typhoon Lagoon. I absolutely love the Disney cruises! It's so much fun to take the magic of Disney and go to exciting new places. But, I also love the parks -- so it's tough to decide. I've been on two Disney cruises, but to the parks many times in my lifetime. Our next Disney trip is scheduled for April 2010 -- we're joining the Magic in Barcelona for an 11 day Mediterranean cruise. :cool1:
So sorry to hear about your back. Back issues are such a pain. Good that you're resting it, and hopefully it will be feeling better soon.
I can't wait to do a cruise. The mediterean will be amazing.

We always took the kids out of school and we'd go for 5 days. We were in Disneyland in March, our spring break. I was reluctant to take the boy out this time because it was his last year of highschool and he is autistic. Worked out great though because Easter was about 2 weeks out still when we went. We are going in late June this year because that's when my sis in law and mom in law goes. I've been to Disneyworld once when I was a teenager and it was ok, the humidity was bad when we went though and I got sick.
Funny, after we get back, I always feel a little bad about taking him out of school, but once I start planning another trip, and look at school vacation prices vs taking him out of school, I get over it. When next years school schedule comes out, I'll look at the long weekends and try to make a plan. It's so nice not to go during peak times.

Lisa your post was very true, time to stop focusing on the scale. We are eating so much better.
I'm going into my sisters club as a guest to be evaluated by her trainer for a "home-plan" since I have no time to get to a gym.
Last trip was my 50th. DSis splurged and booked CSR for me. We had gone there once to have dinner and I loved it. That seems like a long time ago now! It was a fantastic trip too!
I'd love to go to Disneyland and see the differences. I bought and read "Disney Mountains-Imagineering at its Peak" last trip and have been fasinated by the Disney "mountain rides" - they are all in the book: Matterhorn, Space Mountain-both, Candy Mountain(never built), Splash, Big Thunder, Mount Prometheus in Tokyo, Grizzly and, of course, Everest. I want to see and ride them all!
I thought we were going in Sept09 then Feb10 but it has been hard to get away from the farm so it's some time in the future. Maybe a retirement trip in '13 (not actual retirement but no more big city!) Until then I can dream:upsidedow.
Glad to hear your feeling better about your healthy lifestyle now. Good luck with the trainer, I'm sure you'll get lots of great advice.
The mountains are amazing, when you think about all that goes into them. When we rode the tta this month, we got to see space mountain in the light because it was closed for renovations. It was cool.

QOTD: My last Disney trip was...now! I'm on the bus from Epcot back to Kidani. I'm going to throw a couple frozen pizzas in the oven and relax. I had 3 small pancakes with lite syrup and some strawberries for breakfast and the holiday turkey sandwich minus the mayo from Earl of Sandwich for lunch. I just had a small skim latte, but no other snacks at all today, so I guess the pizza won't kill me. Unfortunately the Walmart we got groceries at was wiped thanks to the holiday, and they didn't have any salad dressing I liked, so I didn't buy any salad. We have lunch at CP tomorrow though, so I'll make sure to eat plenty of greens there.
Whoo hoo!! We are all with you in spirit. Have a fabulous time!!

I love DW because of the different options you have for places to stay that are still on site. We have stayed at all different values depending on our circumstances at the time. We also love the campground which is not available in California.
the campground looks great, and we've considered staying in one of the cabins with my brother and family, but haven't done it yet. Do you stay in the cabin or do a trailer? We had so much fun at the hoopde doo, and just hanging out afterwards, it looks like such a fun place, and you would be more inclined to take some down time.

The parks are so beautiful for the holidays. Sounds like a wonderful MOM day, enjoy it.

Sunday QOTD- What do you say or do when people try to push food on you at parties? Is there anyone you will be seeing at the holidays who tries to sabotage your weight loss efforts, and how can you handle them?

I have decided, if it is something that I want, then I will have a small serving. Otherwise, I'll try to be strong, say No Thank You, or I'm full right now, and I'll have some later.
I come from a family where all celebrations include food, and there is usually not too many healthy choices. I will try and bring something healthy to parties. There really isn't one person who sabotages me, except for me. If I am determined to stay on track, I do. I am really feeling determined to stay on track this month. I know that Christmas will be the hardest for me this year, but if I eat my way through it, I won't feel any better while I'm doing that, and I certainly won't feel better after it's over and I've gained 10 pounds.

Have a nice sunday everyone. My son just said to me, hasn't this been the longest weekend ever? Hope it felt that way for you all too ( in a good way).

Kathy, We have never stayed at the trailers. we have only tent camped. I have done it about 5 times now. The site is big enough for 2 tents so the since the boys are older we slept in one tent and they slept in the other. Dh is a light sleeper so anything that happens in the other tent he would hear it.

Tent camping has been fun for us. One time we took our nephew which meant we were a party of 5. Tent camping was the only way we could do it. Another time we went with a family where all of the guys except my youngest were going to the Fl Keys for a Boy Scout thing. we camped with another mother and her three girls. My neice came and slept with us a couple of nights. we didn't get a good night sleep the first night because the bullfrogs were out since it had rained.

We are thinking about buying a small camper just for dh and myself and that should be a lot of fun not sleeping on the ground. He still does that a few times a year with the scouts but it is very tough for my bones.

If you do stay in Fw just be prepared for a different attmosphere. It is a much slower pace than any where else on property. Some people don't like it because to get anywhere you need to catch at LEAST 2 means of transportation. As my neice told her father "You can't get anywhere fast from FW" Maybe that is why we like it so much. even if we are not staying there we visit. We were only in DW 4 days in AUg but we still found time to go to FW and visit. One of our last means of transportation was sitting on the boat from FW to the MK as we were getting ready to leave for POFQ and go to the airport.

It is one of my favorite places in the world.

Dona, you make camping there sound like so much fun. We go tent camping around here a couple times each summer, and it is so much fun, but so much work too. I'm sure it would be much slower pace, which is good sometimes, and that's what you'ld plan when you go there. I don't know if I could handle the tent after a day in the parks, especially if it rained. You're a tough cookie. One of my favorite memories was when it was just my son and I and we took the boat back from the hoop dee doo, and it was so peaceful and relaxing, and we were both in such good, happy moods. Oooh, I have a feeling I'm going to need to start planning a trip soon.

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Sunday QOTD- What do you say or do when people try to push food on you at parties? Is there anyone you will be seeing at the holidays who tries to sabotage your weight loss efforts, and how can you handle them?

Well, I have to admit that I am the one who tries to sabotage my weight loss efforts, too. I am getting much better at saying "no thanks" or just taking a few bites and calling it good. But I have to really remind myself sometimes how hard I've been working and how simple it would be to undo my efforts if I am not careful.

, Kathy, I know this is a hard holiday season for you missing your Mom. You are so right that you won't feel better if you end up gaining 10 pounds and good for you for knowing that! :flower3:

We saw A Christmas Carol yesterday. It was a good movie but there were probably some little kids who had bad dreams last night because it was pretty intense in spots. It was amazing to see the special effects -- really a contrast to the last 3D movie I saw which was the Toy Story double feature!

By the way, I wanted to clarify that I worked at Disneyland 30 years ago when I was 18 -- not 18 years ago like I said originally. I'm only 18 still in my head! :hippie:

Have a great day all!

Well, I'm just not easy that way, if I don't want to eat something I'm not gonna do it. I went to see Julie and Julia last night at the $1 theater was great- think this will "do" as my reward movie. Maybe I'll go see 2012 when it's there ;-) Was just checking out the $1 theater as I was going to Costco to pick up some BF deals (3 day sale and Costco always has plenty of stock) and was delighted to see it listed as I just finished the book. It was sold out so I very determinedly bought a ticket for zombieland and snuck into Julie. It's never really sold out, found a single seat easily. Had to dodge the crafty mgr. though lol. I bought some of the Gloria Vanderbilt $12 tummy control jeans at Costco, size 12 ;)

Just a note to let you know that I posted the Biggest Loser 9 planning poll on the WISH boards. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=34502406&postcount=1

There is still lots of time to do great things on this challenge!

But do chime in on the planning thread and help us decide what format the next challenge will be and let us know what you did and didn't like about this challenge.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Sabotage!:scared1:

This has never really been a problem if the offering is a sweet or dessert, I've never had a sweet tooth and can resist.
Where I fail is when someone says "lets have sushi" or some other restaurant meal. I tend to order the wrong things. We eat out more around the holidays.
For Christmas Day I'm more likely to drink too much:headache:
I really need more will power for that.

Happy to see weight has stayed the same since Saturday!

Enjoying playing games with the girls, just won Chutes and Ladders in about 10 spins! DH is starting a fire in the fireplace. Last chance before we put up our tree next Saturday! Enjoying a mango rum and Sprite Zero. Finished off the Thanksgiving leftovers! Will probably just have dessert tonight as we ate lunch late. Back on the elliptical and walking with Leslie Sansone in the morning.

I love the holidays!:santa:

Saturday QOTD- When and where was your last disney vacation, and when do you think you will be going again? For those who have been to more than one disney parks/cruises, what is your favorite?

We got back from wdw 2 weeks ago, and I don't have a current plan. I was thinking about next thanksgiving, because I don't know how long I'll be able to take michael out of school. School vacation weeks are so expensive. I've only been to wdw, though I've been thinking I should do DL and do a california vacation one day soon. I am planning a disney cruise for my 50th birthday which will be feb 2014.:rotfl: I think I have a ways to go before I can book it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

My last disney vacation was this past September to Disneyland with my dh, kids, sister and brother in law and their kids! It was sooooo much fun! My next disney vacation is back to Disneyland this coming February with the Divas! Woo Hoo!

My next large disney trip will be in November 2011 or early 2012 and it will be to Disneyworld for 4 nights and then to a 4 night Disney cruise. We plan on staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness. I can't wait! The kids will be 6 and 3 at the time. (I have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside which I loved, Boardwalk which was a pretty good location, and Coronado Springs which I didn't care for though I loved the food court.)

I have been doing pretty well this weekend. I didn't have a chance to work out much but my eating has been under control.

Have a great day all!

Sarah

VOW for the Week: I will get back OP today and for the rest of the week! Today will begin at 7:30 with a 3 mile WATP workout. Then I have to take DD2 to preschool and then head to KMart for some shopping. After that I will come home and do 3 miles on the elliptical. I vow to get 1 more 2 mile workout in tonight after supper! Should be a good week for me workout wise and food wise! Food today: yogurt, lean pocket, small meatball sub for supper! Lot of Water!!!!! Actually down from Friday's weigh in but only by .2 but that's better than a big gain! I just want to see a solid 160 by the end of next week before PMS kicks in!

Slept in so I missed my 5:30 workout but it was a long weekend!

Glad you liked the movie. We have plans to go in a couple weeks. How is it that those years fly by like that and we still feel 18?

I wanted to see that movie with a friend a month or so ago, so my son went with her 14 yo to see Gforce, and that movie wasn't playing, so we saw final destination, which when we read the blurb about it in the movie book at the theater, we got no idea that it was going to be a horror/blood bath movie. We laughed through the whole thing, it was terrible.

Thanks for doing that Lisa. I'll check it out later.

I envy that you don't have a sweet tooth. Sweets are my downfall, chocolate in particular.

Mango run sounds delicious. Think I need to try something new. I love this thread for all the good ideas that I get.

Awesome that you're on track this weekend with the eating. Not easy to do over a long, holiday weekend.

:thumbsup2 sounds like a great plan, Tracey.

Monday QOTD- what on the menu for todays meals?
I didn't have a good day yesterday at my niece's b-day party, so I need a plan for the week. I'll have egg beaters with salsa and cheese for breakfast with a banana. Lunch will be a ww frozen meal, an apple, and yogurt. Dinner, I'm making chili. Snacks- Yogurt and banana.
I love not working, but am sort of glad to get back to work and into a routine.
thanks tracey for posting your food for the day.

Monday QOTD- what on the menu for todays meals?

I was not in the mood to get out of bed this morning so I hurriedly grabbed a Smart One from the freezer for lunch. I did make time to have a 1/2 Cup raisin bran with 1/2 Cup milk this morning. I will eat my usual, an apple, at 9:30 break also.

My hubby works tonight and my oldest has dance so I will make them something quick like grilled cheese or something so I will probably just have a salad of some sort. I was up a little on the scale this morning so I need to get that back down to where it was Friday!

Great question! I need this, too. Breakfast will be a blueberry bagel and 1 T whipped cream cheese. Snack apple and a piece of string cheese. Lunch frozen meal and yogurt. Dinner corn bread with green chiles and baked beans. Slept too late to get any exercise this morning so will need to try and work in 1/2 an hour of activity.

It is tough to get back into your regular routine after a long holiday week-end! :santa:

Have a great day all!

QOTD:
Just had a lean pocket for lunch and will have a small meatball sub on a potato roll. Had my one handful of M&Ms for the day:) Off to do 3-4 miles on the elliptical right now. Time for some water!

I didn't get on the computer all weekend. Busy studying for a final exam on Wed. I did take a break on Sunday to watch the Grey Cup though! Its not our Thanksgiving but I did cook a turkey on Sunday. DH asked for one, and I decided to go for it. Kept it simple, so it wasn't too much work, and now I don't have to cook again until after my exam!:goodvibes

Last week was a gain for me again  I think mostly from TOM. Next week will be better. I'm sticking to my exercise plan, cleaned out my snack drawer at work, so less temptation, and tracking as I eat. I have decided that I WILL end this challenge with a last, and am finally feeling motivated. I just have to get through the exam on Wed, and then life will settle down.
The stress at work is settling down, and I'm finally feeling like I can take control.

Haven't read anything, and I'll have to go back and get caught up later in week. I'll be back to post the results tomorrow. :goodvibes

And now here's the wonderful list of those who still have a chance to send in their results! Once again, there's no pressure to send in weights if you don't want to, but if you wanted to be counted in the results here's the friendly reminder.

Happy Monday all!

Sorry I haven't had a chance to come visit since Friday. It was a great weekend though.

I have read all of the posts and love to read about everyone's Disney trips.

Saturday QOTD- When and where was your last disney vacation, and when do you think you will be going again? For those who have been to more than one disney parks/cruises, what is your favorite?

Our last trip was April 2008 and there is nothing currently planned right now. DH is not a big Disney fan, so we usually go about 2 years between trips... which means we are due for one this Spring, but it doesn't look like it will be happening.

We have been to WDW several times as a family and DL once. We loved them both and they both have lots of pros (and cons) about them. I am going to have to say that the MK at WDW is probably my favorite. I first visited it in 1974 when it was the ONLY WDW park and I TRULY never forgot the feelings from that magical trip. We have talked about doing a Disney cruise as a family, but it would probably mean giving up a park trip, and so far no one wants to give up park time!

Monday QOTD- what on the menu for todays meals?

Well... it is one of those empty fridge/full week times, so it will be a little of this and a little of that. DS was running late, so he ate bkfst at school (and he buys his lunch daily). DD, as usual, grabbed a Luna bar and Vitamin water for breakfast on the go and she also eats lunch at school. DH just had coffee for breakfast and I had my usual French Vanilla cafe and a 2 pt packet of instant oatmeal with a few walnuts sprinkled in.

Lunch for DH and myself was leftover soup (kielbasa soup for him, kale soup for me) and sandwiches (ham and cheese for him, turkey for me).

Dinner is also going to be a hodge-podge of bits and pieces from the fridge, freezer, and cupboard. DH and I will each have a pre-packaged stuffed fish portion I found in the back of the freezer. DS will have a Boca chicken patty (he is allergic to real chicken). We will have a side of Thai red rice and some sort of green veggie (whatever I have in the freezer, as there is nothing fresh in the fridge). DD will have a turkey sandwich and an apple on the go between swim practice and a Rainbow Girls outing.

It is SO hard to plan real meals, since we spend our evenings running between activities... Robotics, swim, Rainbow Girls, tennis, basketball (now that soccer season is over), play rehearsal, etc.

On another topic.... I will admit that the remainder of the weekend was harder (eating wise) than I anticipated it to be. I did really well on Thursday and Friday and pretty much stuck to my eating/exercise plan. But the "bits and pieces" of leftover goodies really called to me, especially Saturday. My biggest downfall was about a half a piece of leftover peanut butter pie. And I went over my points yesterday, more out of exhaustion and hunger, than anything else. But I'm trying HARD to concentrate on all of the RIGHT things I did over the holiday, versus the WRONG things that I could have done!

I stayed primarily on plan Thursday and Friday. I got in all of my planned exercise and even did a bit more on Friday than planned. I drank plenty of water and seltzer. I took myself AWAY from the food areas and concentrated on visiting with family and such, rather than thinking about what I could eat next. And I got back on plan (pretty much ;) ) on Saturday morning.

I hope you all are doing well. Gotta run and get ready to coach Robotics.....P

Monday QOTD- what on the menu for todays meals?

Breakfast was a smoothie as I needed to use up the last of the summer's blackberries.:sad1:
I'm gonna heat up some leftovers for lunch here shortly and I think I'll make some ramen with some leftover turkey in it to put in a thermos for lunch. That way I can sit in my car too- I'd rather do that then the breakroom. I'm up 3 pounds since Friday lol. Must be the leftovers. I swear I look at food these days I immediately gain weight. Went around looking for a nice coat yesterday since I had a sunday off and goodwill changes their specials on tags on sundays. Found a few things- I'm being really picky about clothes. I figure the ones I'm buying now will be my permanent clothes for awhile and I feel they are a huge part of my reward for losing. I really just don't even like many of the styles right now that I could afford in retail stores and it seems they aren't even selling warm clothes. I'm one of those who dress practically. I found a beautiful faux fur coat at St. Vincent De Paul for $25 after 1/2 off it looks like it's from the 60's- Davis of Boston is on the label and it says by Jonathan Logan. Can't find much on the brand online but I am devastatingly in love with it. :lovestruc
I needed some nicer clothes to wear to a fancy restaurant my husbands boss is treating us to and I found a great shirt and pants at St. Vinnies too. I still plan on making 135 this week-- will just have to be full throttle the rest of the week.
