Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge -- for losers and maintainers!

I haven't done as good with my eating or exercise as I planned to this week. Trying to get ready for vacation while work is stressing me out big time isn't a good combo! They even called me at 10:40 last night and asked me to work 11pm-3am tonight, and our plane leaves at 11am tomorrow morning! I said NO, I'M ON VACATION, and then I got hung up on! Maybe I'll win a lifetime DVC membership while I'm there and never have to come home and go back to work! :lmao:

Glad that you could just say no to working in the middle of the night before your vacation! :scared1: Have a wonderful time and safe journey! Good idea taking your plan with your to the restaurant! :thumbsup2

Great question. I don't know if it's a secret, but we discovered the Animation studio drawing class at DHS on our second trip, and we have to do it every trip now. I love it because it's quiet, down time, and you get to sit for half an hour, and my son just loves doing the drawings. We did it 5 times on our trip this month. I love having the pics as a souvenir too.

I think that Michael may have a careeer as an animator in his future! :)

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney "secret"? A little known fact, a special viewing area, the best place to see characters?

Can't wait to see the answers!

Sarah

My tips are Disneyland trips because I've only been to WDW 3 times but I've been to DL lots and lots of times.

One of my favorite Disney secrets is that you can collect fastpasses and use them later in the day, even after their time has expired. One night last summer at DL we had fastpasses for 8 rides to use and avoid the crowds. DH is really into getting as many fastpasses as he can.

If you are staying the Grand Californian Hotel there is a "secret" exit that bypasses DTD and gets you close to the gate. You can only use it to get to the park as the door locks behind you. Now if someone could only come up with a secret for those hallways that mysterious get longer at the end of the day . . . . :rotfl:

I'm looking forward to hearing some WDW secrets. :goodvibes

Off to the grocery store for the last time for Thanksgiving. Hoping it won't be too crazy at 7 am when they open!

Have a great day all!

Good morning all!

To those of you heading off to WDW (and other places) for the holiday... safe travels to you and have fun!!

I'm excited to see so many of you with written plans for the holiday. Hopefully it will help all of us!

I do remember doing the paper plate thing at Weight Watchers meetings in the past and it was really an eye opener to see just how many calories are in some of our favorite holiday foods!

Speaking of high calorie foods.... I indulged in a treat last weekend that I have been really craving.... but I broke my own cardinal rule and I didn't figure out the points until AFTER I ate it. I had a pumpkin donut from Dunkin Donuts. As a rule, I really hate donuts... probably haven't eaten one in 15 years. But I've been craving a pumpkin one, so I went ahead and splurged last Saturday... I had 3/4 and I gave DD 1/4 of it. When I got home I discovered it was something ridiculous like 8 points!! SO NOT WORTH IT!

Then I went on to check on the points for the Dunkin Pumpkin Muffins that DD LOVES so much.... OFF THE CHARTS!! I had to guesstimate it at 15 points because it was off my points slider chart!! Imagine that I let her eat these as a SNACK a few times a week!! No more of that! For those of you not familiar with the points system.... I currently get 20 points a day (plus my 35 flex points for the week)... so that is almost three meals worth of calories for me! Waaaay too many calories (and fat grams) for a snack for ANYONE!

I think that is the problem that so many people encounter when trying to lose weight or even just figure out why they are gaining weight.... they have NO idea how many calories are in the things they eat!! Imagine grabbing a latte or cappucino and a muffin for breakfast.... doesn't seems so bad.. right?? No fatty bacon, no cholesterol-filled eggs, no cheese-stuffed danish pastry... so how bad could it be?? A muffin has fruit, right? WE ARE KIDDING OURSELVES INTO BEING OVERWEIGHT AND UNHEALTHY!! (With lots of help from advertisters, of course! ;)) (CLIMBING OFF HER SOAP BOX NOW)

I have lots to do today to get ready for the holiday weekend so that I have time to get in my planned two hours workout tomorrow. I am determined not to let anything stop me from getting in that workout.

Okay... it is going to be lengthy, but I will share a brief version of my holiday eating plan here. I'll try to keep it short!!

That sounds like a fabulous plan! I know you can do it! I am home with dd today as she got sick last night. Not fun. She seems fine today but can't go to daycare if she has been sick within the last 24 hours. I am trying to be productive...1st load of wash is in the dryer, second is in the wash, I have picked up the house, done some work in the kitchen and am getting ready to do my christmas cards once dd has gone down for her morning nap. Later I will work on dfil's present and call House of Blues with some questions about their Gospel Brunch for my DL trip in February. Hopefully I can vacuum later and pick up dh pants at the drycleaner.

Have a great day everyone. Try to stay on plan today so you will have good momentum for tomorrow. Work out if you can and don't forget to drink your water!

I am going to my ww meeting tonight and am hoping for a great loss. I feel like I have lost a bunch this week!

Wishing everyone a wonderful, productive, on plan day!

Sarah

Hello all. I am sorry I haven't been on today or done a QOTD. I don't know how many of you branch out of this thread but I am a member of the DIS Diva's ladies only trip and one of our dearest friends passed away today. She posted a lot around the boards. Her name is Dawn/fairykin. Please give good thought to her family as they deal with this.

QOTD: If you had one day left in this world what activity would you do?

As for me, I would want my kids to remember something amazing and fun. Since I am not near Disneyland I would take my kids on a hike through the mountains and end the day star gazing laying on our backs in a field on a soft blanket holding hands and talking about the stars.

Will miss you Dawn!

Sarah

I am so sorry for your loss.. I am friends with Jill and she had told us.. I will keep her family as well as the Divas in my thoughts and prayers.

Biggest Loser 8 Fall Challenge Week 10
This weeks total group loss 38.9 pounds!
average percentage of weight lost 0.66%

Total group weight loss so far 373.3 pounds!
Group weight loss goal 500 pounds!
As our numbers dwindle this is looking harder to reach, but its still possible if we keep going as well as we did this week!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 10? This week I’ve went with a simple TOP 10 LIST. That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!;);):rotfl: (and if there’s something you want to know, just ask me!)

Thanks to ohMom-Molli for these clippies. They were used for a previous BL but we can recycle. Don't they look great!

Never went on the computer yesterday, so did the results post this morning!
Great job everybody!

As for todays QOTD lets make it a lot more joyful and Disney related because hey, what is more joyful than that?

I heard once of a band that went to Disneyland and they broke some rules of the trip so the band teacher punished them by making them ride IASW continuously for an hour! If you had to ride one ride for an hour without getting off, which ride would it be?

I'd have to go with Buzz Lightyear, which isn't my favourite ride, but I think an hour straight and I might get a decent score! :lmao:

QOTD: How about it?? Could you have a WRITTEN plan in place for your eating and exercise this weekend? Would it help?

I think a plan is good. I don't have Thanksgiving, but it is Grey Cup weekend, so I usually put out lots of snacks to eat watching the football game. Here's my plan, which isn't too detailed, but I did actually write it down:
-record food before eating, not after
-no chips (not even the baked ones)
-no chocolate
-Exercise at least 40 min each day

lisah0711 - congrats on your NSV!:cool1:

pjlla - belated congrats on the robotics victory! :thumbsup2

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney "secret"? A little known fact, a special viewing area, the best place to see characters?

Can't wait to see the answers!

Sarah

Well, I don't think its a secret, but we always avoid Fantasyland in the daytime and go in the evening. :goodvibes

Congrats to all the losers! Especially Susan514!

Hey Redwalker, we finished 2 and 3! WOOHOO!

Did the 2 mile WATP this morning and then walked about 2 miles with a neighbor in the drizzle, and just finished 2 miles on the elliptical while watching 3 Rivers. Hope to get in 2 more miles somehow today and do my crunches. Didn't get up early to do the elliptical as I woke up with a headache but it went away.

I will do 3 miles first thing in the morning tomorrow and then do 3 more tomorrow night and my crunches. Will also drink LOTS of water!

Why do you do Fantasyland at night? Is it less crowded or do you just like the ambiance better in the evening?

Congrats to all the losers! Especially Susan514!

I love your committment to excersize! Way to go! I wish I could do half as well!

As for me, the day is going well. My dd seems to have recovered. She took a 3 hour nap which afforded me the time to do more laundry (3rd and final load is in the dryer!), get most of my Diva's christmas cards written (need to buy more cards in order to finish the rest), unload the dishwasher, reload the dishwasher, make the pecan pie that I am bringing to my moms for Thanksgiving (I have one slice planned into my food for tomorrow and the rest is going to the guys at work on friday!), and make another batch of pie crust to put in the freezer for whenever I need to make a pie in the next month and a half.

Now I just need to run some errands, finish the laundry, finish the dishes, work on my dfil's present and vacuum before 4...hmmm, I am seeing a time problem here....oh well, I will do the best I can!

Have a great one!

Sarah

20 minutes until the BL Where are they Now show! Heading down to my elliptical for that one! Can't wait to see Mike from last season and his dad! They showed 3 people in the preview with Mike and Ron so maybe they got his brother involved and fit too!

Hey Tigger813! #2 and #3! That is so GREAT! I am very happy! I am planning on doing the No Frills Turkey Trot tomorrow morning at 7:30am..I am doing the 5 mile race. It should only take me about 1hr 15min...if I run it will be even faster..I will try to make it under 1 hour. I have been baking all day, the chocolate chip cookies are my down fall, I did eat 4 of them. I know tomorrow will be a challenge, but the big picture is in my sights and I won't let any desert stand in my way. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you biggest loosers out there! Keep up the hard work..

DH and I are making Irish Soda bread. Noticed our flour expires tomorrow so I'm making some dark chocolate Raspberry Creme brownies. I just ate a skinny cow so I won't eat anything else. Also had a WASA cracker with some hummus on it.

Did about 8 miles total today and still drinking my water. Still need to do my crunches before I go to bed.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving tomorrow! Hoping the scale doesn't go up too much but enjoy yourself!

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving who will be celebrating tomorrow.

Have a fun grey cup weekend, shannon. Thanks for all your hard work with the weights.

Whoo hoo the top losers this week!!!! Nice way to start the holiday season!!

I'm setting my alarm to get up and exercise. Lots of challenging food tomorrow, but after I searched my closet, and I do not have many clothes that fit right now, I'm determined to stick with my plan. I have plenty of clothes in the next 2 sizes down. There's 3 more weighins after this fridays, so in 3 weeks, we can all see some losses if we set our minds to it.

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our WISH'ers! :goodvibes

I am thankful that you are all here to help us along on our journeys to better health!

Congratulations to all of our biggest losers and especially our biggest loser, susan514! :cheer2: mikamah, is right, that is a super way to start off the holiday season.

We keep getting closer to our group goal. Shannon, is correct it is going to take a few more weeks like this one to get us there. If we all lose 3 lbs and no one else drops out we would be very close. But this is a tough time of year so it is going to take some super effort.

Shannon, good plan for the Grey Cup festivities.

Yesterday, I ate some Chex Party Mix. Not in the plan. :sad2: Ate what I ususally would but it was way too much. I was still so full I didn't eat dinner. And when I thought about it, I really enjoyed the first few bites but after that it was just old habits coming back. The good thing is being aware of it now, I know the first bites are the best and the rest just take something good and turn it into something bad. It is nice to know that my mindset has finally kicked in and I don't have to worry about things being around. Because I can handle them! But still be very, very careful . . . :scared:

I'm off to step while watching BL Where They Are Now. That will be a good start to my day.

Safe journey to our travellers and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Remember the most important thing is that no matter what happens today, get right back on track tomorrow! :thumbsup2

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to all of my US friends.... happy Thursday to the rest of you!

Well... as planned I went to the Y this morning for their special T.giving morning exercise time. I didn't do the full two hours, as I had originally planned, because DD decided to come with me and she got bored quickly. But we were there about an hour and 40 minutes and I managed a full 91 minutes of exercise in that time! Not a bad start to the day, if I may say so myself. Plus I really pushed myself last night and did a full 110 minutes just last night.

I did this week's weigh in this morning before exercise. Maybe that is a bit of a cheat, to do it before the "big meal", but I figured it would keep me on track for today, plus I don't have to cart my scale with me for the weekend. I am down a pound.... I was really expecting a bit more, based on what I saw earlier in the week, but I'm okay with it.

Not a lot of time to chat.... gotta get the car loaded and the such for the big weekend away. I'll try to jump on when I can over the weekend........P

I am so bummed. We record everything through a computer set up that we can then watch on tv and we just got the converter adn we missed the past 5 days of shows!!! DH is going to try to find them online when they post but I am still bummed! Hope the show was good and that I get to watch it soon!

Not a lot of time to chat.... gotta get the car loaded and the such for the big weekend away. I'll try to jump on when I can over the weekend........P

Way to go on getting the great work outs in! What wonderful dedication you have, keep up the great work! I'm sure you'll see a great loss next week!

As for me, I had my ww meeting last night and saw a fantastic loss so even though I won't report it to LuvBaloo until tomorrow I went ahead a changed my signature...just couldn't help myself! If I can do even 1/2 as well next week I will get to change it again! :goodvibes

Have a great Thanksgiving (US)/Thursday (CA) everyone!

QOTD: What are you most thankful to Walt Disney for?

I have to say that I am most thankful to him for following his dreams, believing in himself, and not settling. I love the story where he wanted the castle topped with gold and Roy said no, so while Roy was away Walt had the gold put on anyway! Walt wanted a quality product and I believe he succeeded!

Have a great day and don't forget to drink that water!

I'm sorry I haven't been on much and didn't weigh in. My computer died and I didn't have access to one until yesterday. :( I did gain .2 last week, but that was to be expected. I am weighing in tomorrow, we'll see how that goes with Thanksgiving being today.

QOTD: My 3 internships! That is an experience that will stay with me forever, particularly entertainment and I can't wait to go back. I think of all things I am the most thankful for would be being trained for the first float in Share A Dream Come True Parade. I wanted so much to perform in a parade, but many interns never get a chance to. I was not even told I was going to be trained. I logged onto the computer to get my schedule and there it was. I was taken completely off guard, particularly because at the time I did not have the color code (ranking) for it. I later did get the color code for it, but it showed a lot of faith in me on staging's part to pick me to be trained. I don't think even performing on the castle stage matched the feeling that day, or the first time I did the parade. I had trained for the role and that same day was asked to do it because the person who was supposed to was sick. I remember being terrified but excited, and I ended up doing it more than even the full timers because the person whose role it was most days of the week ended up leaving due to health issues.

E.P.C.O.T!
I love Epcot, loved it from the day it opened. I never spend as much time there as I would like, and it's always at the end of the day (for Illuminations) and I'm always so-o-o-o exhausted. I would love to stay at the Yacht Club so I could be near there and just walk home at the end of the day.

I think I had a techno glitch last week because I thought I had lost 3lbs and now I seem to be back where I was.:confused3
Last night i was so upset I felt like crying. I'm so hungry and light headed all of the time. I'm really eating a lot less than I was so.....what's up? Usually if I commit to dieting I lose about 10lbs per month?

Well I'm sticking to it anyway and at least I'm eating much healthier. Maybe I'll go back to C25K and see if the extra exercise helps.:yay:
I joined Sparkpeople and its a lot of fun!:thumbsup2

You might be eating TOO little. Your body needs to know it's not starving or it will shut down and not allow you to lose! Good luck!
