Hi everyone,
A good weigh in for me this morning. I just sent my PM to Brenda.

I am down 2 pounds this week.

Encouraging words to all, we are all winners for being here!

Back down again this week after another horrible busy week at work and home. I do not eat well when it gets this busy for me. Dr. gave me the bad news, he does not want me to do the bike anymore...said something about trying to preserve my knee so I can hold off on the replacement another two years.:scared1: Instead of everyday I am going to try every few days. Have a good week all and hopefully I will be able to check in more than last week.:goodvibes

HELP!!!

We got Directv over the weekend and DH says 'oh hey we aren't getting our local channels". No prob I think we can get those 5 on our antenna. I decided to check on my BL on DVR and the cable was disconnected today. Okay I will just find in with the new complicated Directv contraption. Guess what it is not there, anywhere!! We do not get any 'regular' network stations.

We are down to 5 contestants, one goes tonight to become the final four and I am not recording this episode!!!! AAAAAKKKKK!!! Directv customer service says it may take up to 45 days to get the channels. We were sorely mislead when we signed up for this deal. I though DH had everything under control. I could scream. I probably will.

Can any of my BL buddies help me out here? I need a recording of tonight's episode. I will pay for the tape, I will pay for the postage, I will pay for your time. Please help a loser out if you can.

AAAAAKKKKK!!!!

It really could be worse, at least I was a loser this week.

I'm down 1.4 this week! :cool1: I'm excited about that and being very motivated to maintain that momentum.

I wanted to comment about the "crap" discussion....

Do you guys think that maybe she meant crap as in food with NO redeeming qualities - stuff like High Fructose Corn Syrup and Partially Hydrogenated Oils? I know that none of us is going to cut ALL of those foods out of our lives forever anytime soon, but the more I read about them, the more I want to cut as much as I can out and make it a habit. Granted I had Coke today and that is nothing but HFCS - but I only have soda 2 or 3 times a month if that. I agree that I won't ever get all of the "cheat foods" or "bad foods" out of my life. I do believe though that every time I work hard at making positive changes in my lifestyle I find 2 or 3 things that I hold onto ongoing. Eventually the more Healthy foods we get into our lives and more Unhealthy foods we get out the better. AND the only way that we are going to get those things out of our foods for good is if we actually stop buying them and stand up and let the food manufacturers know that we Don't want those things in our foods.

Ok, stepping down off My soap box now.... sorry getting carried away:blush:

I am NO WHERE near a whole foods, organic diet, but the more I learn about the foods we eat and our countries health problems the more I realize how I want to Strive to eat.... Now I just have to develop a taste for more fruits and vegetables :lmao:

Ok, I'm done for tonight. Hope everyone has a Wonderful Weight-loss Wednesday!

I feel your pain. BL is being preempted for BASEBALL here. And of course they are airing it on the sister station that WE DONT GET!!. Why can't they air it at 2am or something.

This is not to you Foxfiregirl. Just going from your post. By the way I had a friend who watched that film over and over and was mesmerized by Angelina Jolie.

For sure with those foods Foxfire, for sure. But no I don't think Nilcoe meant that because of watching BL and what it sees as best. And when I talk about certain foods. Some of the foods I'm talking about are whole foods where "dieters" won't eat b/c they have oil or butter or too many carbs or calories whatever the thing is. Like a lovely gourmet meal. I just ate some Indian butter chicken tonight. Even that kind of food. I know its loaded with fat but I didn't eat enough to make a blip on that radar. I'm personally just so flippin' tired of food this and food that. It's food. Where is the enjoyment?(without overindulging I mean). Look at Dona's homemade with love ravioli. How many people dieters or white knuckled thin people wouldn't touch them. And I'm sure they are delicious. Can you fed ex me some Dona?

Or look at the BL. They go home for a week. Blond boy, sorry it's late, has two glasses of wine and Bob and Jillian freak out. Blond boy, good for him, held his own and said, "I'm going to have wine in my life". I know it's a competition but really. And tonight Bob says for them to order fish and vegetables. Why can't they have a small amount of a dish that they love? Unless they love fish and vegetables...which i do. Oh Rainbow Trout. Probaby too much fat in that fish for Bob. That's what I appreciated about the other trainer. She wanted her team to get used to real life at times.

I lived in Japan for a year. White rice everywhere. At breakfast, lunch, dinner. Always. Many cultures white rice. Yes, they eat so many great foods. And exercise in different ways. Daily built in walking/biking. But we here, well white rice and that awful potato....such bad bad boys. ;) I'm just sick of it all. It's late. Shouldn't be typing. Should be sleeping. :surfweb:

There are always going to be people who cut out a lot and have lifetime success. Susy, from another BL, seemed obsessed with eating a certain way. Barbara Walters talks about her skinny friends who merely move food around and pretend to eat. And that's their life and none of my concern. But don't push it like it's the only way to lose weight and keep it off. It's not.

Well since I'm on a roll I'm going to hash out some feelings I've had about the WISHboards. I love it here. I love the support. But honestly there are threads and posts, thankfully not here, that to me are pretty darn close to eating disorders. If not eating disorders well very obsessive behaviours. Extremely. I find it very sad at times.

If someone wants to eat absolutely clean and "healthy" nearly 100% of the time. Lovely. Good for them. Good choice for health of course. Everyone's choice. Geez, I'm not an unhealthy eater at all - in general terms. I just used to eat too much. But it POs me when people start to say and write that it's the only way to lose weight. Like you have to give up so much. It's not. And a lot of us are proving that. Maybe at a slower rate. But still.

Weekly Challenge #10
are we on #10...i've lost count :confused3 :goodvibes

Here is how it works; below you see a list of ‘tasks’. For the next 7 days you are challenged to complete as many ‘tasks’ as you can. Each one is valued at 5 pts each, maximum points are noted. During the 7 days of the challenge, keep record of a completed tasks and at the end of the week turn in your final total score to PRINCESS VIJA.

This challenge is on your honor system, be accurate and honest with the points you award yourself :thumbsup2

  1. Add 10% more time to your regular workout. If your daily workout is 30 minutes do 10% more (or 33 minutes). 60 minute workout - do 66 minutes. Doing 2 mile walks do 2.2 miles. You get the idea. Just a little push -- 5 pts for each workout you add 10% -- max 35 pts

  2. 10% not a challenge for you? Add 20% -- 10 pts for each workout you add 20% -- max 70 pts

  3. Share with the group your favorite exercise DVD and what you like about it, including yoga, strength training, pilates, etc -- 5 pts for each review -- 15 pts max

  4. letting your stretching slack?? Add 10 mins of stretching after your workout -- 5 pts each stretching session -- max 35 pts

This challenge is meant to motivate you...not to stress you! You may choose to complete one or two of the tasks, or all of them. Let this challenge be want you need it to be.....to CHALLENGE YOU!

The challenge will begin on Thrusday 12:01 a.m. April 3 and ends on Wednesday April 9th at midnight. PM your total points to PRINCESS VIJA by noon on Thursday April 10th

Suggestion – print out the task list and keep it handy to mark off each time you complete one for easy and accurate record

Have fun!

Well put, Lisa. So many times we are on the same wavelength.

You just have the guts to say what I don't!;)

Well Laura,

:rotfl: :lmao: I came on this morning before work running to edit it all out. Not that I don't think it. It's just that it was an emotional day and night and it was very late and I didn't know if I wanted it all out.

Well, it looks like too bad for me. :lmao:

But I do want to say one thing. And make it clear. I love WISH. Most of it is so inspriing. Love being here. The parts that sadden me are not the majority in any way. But still are too many for me at times. Not with a judging tone. But with concern.

Thanks for listening to all my rambling yesterday. I was thankful to have WISH/BL and the Disboards.

Okay,

Off

This challenge looks great and one I can really push myself for. I've been doing 3 mile workouts and I'm in a challenge on another board for 4 mile workouts for the coming week which will definately be a 20% extra for me.

As for my favorite workout video - Leslie Sansone's 5 mile challenge. It is 5 different mile segments. One uses hand weights, one is a super fast walk where you even jog just a little bit, one uses the resistance belt, one a regular fast walk and one with the stretchie. You can either do all 5 miles as one workout, pick one of three scheduled workouts (with both fast walks and then each of the boosters) or do the file mile with a mile breaker inbetween that lets you skip a mile and customize your workout.

I did the first 4 miles last night and then skipped the 5th. It was quite a workout for me!

Sorry ive been mia this week. I am really busy with work:banana: The bad part of this is i gained 3lbs this week. I need to take the time for myself and make sure i drink my water everyday, eat healthly ( include crap as you were discussing because i refuse to live without it. I tried that once and lost alot of weight only for it to come back when i put the forbiden foods back in my diet) and start exercising. I know i say that every week about exercise but the sun is finally out and it is not snowing so i feel more motivated. I am also going hunting(i will be filming the hunt) in the Wayne National Forest in Ohio in 3 week and i hear it has alot of hill and need to be able to carry the gear without dying or slowing down my brother and niece. Hope everyone has a great day and i will talk to you later.

Amanda

Hey Brenda! I will try and help you out. I still have last night's episode on my DVR and if I can find a blank tape I will go ahead and see if it will let me record it to the VCR. Just PM me your address.

To jump in on the "crap" discussion. I for one could never give up my sweets all together. I have done that in the past and when I did eat some I over ate because I was depriving myself. Like Bob said on one episode it is ok to have a cheat day once a week. I believe moderation is the key!

The challenge looks great. Being limited in my exercises I do not know how much I can accomplish but I will definetly try! As for my favorite workout DVD. I love all the BL ones. The orginial one is great if you are starting out and the newest ones Cardio Max and Power Sculpt really kick it up a notch and you burn some calories. The second one I don't like as much. Not that the workouts aren't great I just can not stand Kim and she is on that one alot. I also love the old school Sweatin' to the Oldies! The songs are great, Richard Simmons cracks me up, and the workout is pretty good.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Michele

My favorite DVDs are the good ol fashion FIRM series. I don't often use DVDs, but when I do, I always go back to the old standbys.

Good Wed morning. I can't believe all the talking that has been going on since yesterday. We are already on page 4 almost page 5.

I have enjoyed reading the discussion about elimating all "yunk" food. One website that I have been looking at said "Once you eleminate a food you will start craving that food. There should be no forbidden food" This is from Paul McKenna who has a new show on the TLC channel. It is called "I can make you thin" It is not a diet but a lifestyle change. He feels that no food should be elimated from your eating plan. It has been interesting to watch his show.

I myself can not eliminate any food. I would rather cut down portions that to eliminate things.

Thanks for the info on multiple quotes. I too have been wondering how to do it. I will try it tomorrow when I have a little bit more time.

It is sunny but cold here in Jersey. We had heavy rain last night and BL got interupted because of a tornado warning in the area (not near me). It was an interesting show last night. I don't see how they are going to end the show on the 15th with what they were talking about at the end of the show last night. I won't spoil it for anyone who did not see the show last night. If you want to see the highlights go to www.nbc.com and the highlights will be up sometime today.

The challenge for this weeks looks good. I need to step up my exercise plan so this is perfect timing. Now all we need is the weather to cooperate so I can go out and walk. Oh also my ankle needs to cooperate also. I am getting ready to call my podiatrist. I have had 2 sets of bones spurs in both feet. Over the last month my left ankle had been bothering me when I get up in the morning or if I am sitting too long. Very much like the bone spurs that I have had. I have had then the last couple of times I have been to DW so I think that my annkle had heard that I am going to DW and it is starting to act up. WHen I am walking around a lot teachering it does not bother me too much but I can barely step on it in the morning and going down the stairs takes forever but by the time I am going up to shower it is feeling better. We shall see what happens.

Have a magical losing day pixiedust: pixiedust:

Good Morning everyone. Hope you were able to get at least close to your 8hrs sleep. And don't forget to drink your water today!
A good challenge. Though, it might be a little difficult for me to figure out how the numbers affect me, i'll figure it out. Doctor had me 'take it easy' for a bit and had to cut out gym workout, just finally back to walking this week. I don't really have a set time I walk, but do kinda do the same route, so I'll figure out how long that takes and do my 10% more today. And yes, I have been slacking on the stretching.
I don't really use DVD. But it makes me think of a funny story. My son was about 4yrs old, was really into superheros. He saw an advertisement for the Buns Of Steel workout. He thought that sounded like something he would like. I mentioned it too a co-worker. His daughter had the video, and he lent it to me. So here was a 4yr boy, sitting in front of the tv, doing his leg lifts in time to a skinny little exercise girl so he could have Buns of Steel. :rotfl:

Back down again this week after another horrible busy week at work and home. I do not eat well when it gets this busy for me. Dr. gave me the bad news, he does not want me to do the bike anymore...said something about trying to preserve my knee so I can hold off on the replacement another two years.:scared1: Instead of everyday I am going to try every few days. Have a good week all and hopefully I will be able to check in more than last week.:goodvibes
Way to go on your loss Buddy!! :thumbsup2

Hopefully your knee will hold up for the couple of days a week.

I'm down this week too so that is good. :)

Hi all,

You guys would have been so proud of me last night. I had to go to Panama City Beach for the night for work. I walked past five guys bugers & fries, a stone backed pizza place, a German place, margaritaville and had a spinache salad. It was toough but the support here made it easier- so thank you.

I also walked the beach for an hour. It was very nice.

My favorite work out tape- I really don't use them any more since I go to the gym but Jane Fonda and goofy Richard Simmons used to be my favorites.

Have a great Wednesday.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, the Weight Keeper speaks

We had another one of 'those' weeks. Let's see what I mean.

We started the week with 36 participants. 5 folks have not checked in for three weeks and have been dropped from the challenge. Of course they will be welcomed with open arms if they decide to make a report to me in the future. We have a returnie this week that I am happy to see.

We are now at 32 current participants. 4 people did not check in for the week. 2 of them have missed 2 weeks and 2 have missed one week.

28 participants weighed in this week. We had 11 gains for 25.2 pounds, 2 maintains, and 15 losses totaling 29.2 pounds for a weekly cumulative net loss of 2 pounds. Yes 2 pounds. Our dropped members took 43.8 pounds from our cumulative loss which leaves us with a cumulative loss of 336.7 pounds.

(drum roll and fanfare please)

Congratulations Wendy!!! I know you can keep up your momentum and finish our challenge with a bang. Keep it up.

Our numbers are dwindling and the committed are sticking with us. We can do it. We can finish this challenge successfully and have something positive to show for our 15 weeks together. We are in the home stretch. It's time to bring out your A game. I am trying but it still is a struggle. How are you doing? Was your result on the scale what you expected? Do you have a game plan for this week? I do and I am ready to roll.

Have a healthy day!

I added 10% onto my 4 miler today -- it allowed me time to push and meet my 11:00/mile pace goal!! Last week I was chillin out around 11:05, so it was nice to be able to snag that one.

Thanks for creating this challenge -- it's nice that it gives me an extra little push. Tomorrow I have a hill workout -- 7 hills up and down. How do I add 10%? 20%? Please let me know if I should just add the amount of time divided by 10 on or another hill or ???

My favorite workout video is Crunch Fat Burning Pilates. I like it because it doesn't make me feel uncoordinated, like so many of those usually do. I also feel the burn and can do a lot of the core exercises easily in isolation without the video.

Joanne -- great job walking past the junk to get to your healthy salad. Your body (and conscience) both say "Thanks!"

Lisa -- your post made a lot of sense. Deprivation is not the only way, and it is scary sometimes to see people on the borderline of unhealthy behaviors. I feel sad that some people are so disappointed that they try more extreme behaviors that often leave them even more disappointed. Hopefully WISH will show them a healthier, more successful way!

Thanks so much, losers!!! Coming back to this group and posting more has made me feel more in charge of mybody and myself. I hope we hear from you, too!!!

Keep Smiling,
Ashley
