Woot! Way to go! Great job you all!!

Good morning everyone! Congrats to the top 10 especially my cruise buddy Joanne. Great job everyone! :thumbsup2

I'm a big fan of the WATP program and mentioned one of the DVD's yesterday. Another favorite is the WATP for weightloss. It is a 3 mile walk (but you can stop at after 1 or 2 miles and go on to the stretch). Miles 1 and 3 are with hand weights but you have the option to not use them. Mile 2 is a fast walk led by one of Leslie's other walk leaders. As always it ends with a stretch.

I think what I love about Leslie's program is that she always has real looking people. Sure there are some that are really lean and mean like we'd all like to be, but there are also real people of all ages with all body types. In this particular program 2 of the people had walked off over 100 pounds and one had walked off over 70 pounds.

Thanks Mary, It's nice to see my name up there. This realy has been a struggle this time. So I have to keep it up. My oldest is coming home this week end. he is just going to have to live without those cookies!!!

Have a great Thursday!

Good moring all! Congrats to the top 10! Looking good! I got out last night to walk on my own as DH used that time to play with DD. Since I wasn't pushing a stroller I decided to try to job a little here and there (I don't run or jog! ;) ). So I decided to jog 100 paces and walk 100 for the last 5 min or so. I ended up with 4 jog sessions and other than one falling right as I got to the only uphill (danged timing!) it wasn't too bad. I'm proud to say that I continued the jog up the hill even though I was greatly tempted not too! :rotfl:

DVDs I like:
1. It was mentioned earlier, but Sweatin' to the Oldies. For some reason I've always loved these. I think mainly cause their just plain fun. I love the music, live band, etc aspects.

2. Gaiam has a DVD called Family Yoga. I really like this as it is one of the yoga masters, his wife (also a Yogi) and their 3 kids. Each family member takes turns choosing the positions and the youngest is about my DD's age. We do this together and it is nice to see some of the adaptations one can make for abilities, age, etc.

3. I don't remember the exact name, but I liked the Jazzercise DVD I checked out once too. I seem to more enjoy the workouts that are more "dance" than traditional aerobics. It's a mental think, I guess, but "dancing" seems more fun than "working out".

I have a question about the 10% and 20% portion of the challenge. Is the 20% meant to supercede the 10% or can we do them both? Meaning, can I add 20% to 7 workouts and 10% to 7 other workouts (assuming I could actually work in 14 different workouts), or is it a one or the other thing for a total of 7 workouts?

challenge questions -- Ashley, if you have a workout based on time, add 10% more time. If you do the hills without tracking time and just to finish them, use your judgement....if you feel one hill would be 10 or 20% more that is fine. we trust you :thumbsup2

tmfranlk -- my original thought was that the 20% would supercede the 10%....but by all means if you can workout 14 times this week you will earned both sets of points! :cheer2: and my :worship: to anyone that does! :cheer2:

i'm not doing well in the exercise segment this week either.....i'm tapering for my 1/2 marathon in 10 days or so, and i have a pulled muscle around my upper hip that is giving me grief. i'm undecided on taking a few days off or gently push through. and it's spring break so my usual routine is out the window :scared:

i watched BL this week this morning.......and WOW :yay: Ali continues to amaze me

actually it was just what i needed to see this morning that i made the top 10....yay me!.....b/c i'm in a grazing mood this morning and i had a bigger meal last night so i need to refocus :goodvibes

Great job Wendy, yes you are on a roll. Time to shine superstar! Claim your clippie and wear it proudly. You have earned it!

Well,

Before I start you know what I'm doing Wendy. Yep smiling broadly with a wink wink. Let's start there #1 Wendy!!!!! Brenda said, "time to shine!!!!". I hear an issue flying out the window.:rotfl: :lmao:

Anyway seriously....

Congrats to all the biggest losers. :dance3: Well done everyone. :cool1:

I was surprised to see me but it's very nice this week. Brownies were cooked last night. And guess what, brownies were eaten. :lmao:What a surprise, eh? Which we all know is fine in my book. But quite possibly a little faster than necessary. (At least not 1/2 or all which might have been in the past) So good timing for me. I feel extremely unmotivated and need to get focused.

Here's a big:woohoo: and a :yay: and a :dance3: for Wendy. Way to go Wendy.

Also, nice to see some hard working leaders on the list. So a :dance3: for you both.

And to all of us. All 30 plus. I think that's our tally of BL participants. This is something to still be here. So congratulations to us. :yay:

Well,

I don't want to put a biggest loser spoiler so stop reading if you haven't watched or I'll try to talk in code. EDIT: Oh wait I think I know how to turn it white.

Honestly, I felt physically ill by the decisions of some, well two mainly, of the remaining participants early in the show. Physically ill. To me it was disgusting. And don't get me wrong I'm competitive and it's a game. But to me in life there are lines not to be crossed regardless. Integrity and got your back rule supreme. And to cry and say, "I'm a changed person" as well. Well, boo hoo. That prior chat kind of wiped out any nice choices. (HEY: I was doing some work while watching. It was for real right? I didn't miss something? The boys weren't BSing were they? Probably wishful thinking. See I'm still wishing that I missed something and that there is an explanation somehow.)

The person that I feel sympathy for. That I feel will be shocked. I hate to see this challenger watch that show. I myself wanted to cry thinking about that. I hope this person now wins.

Despite past behaviours I was shocked. I guess I think people change. And give them the benefit.

I know that's probably not enough code. Sorry to anyone who hasn't watched.

EDIT: I didn't bother editing the talking in code when I found the white out. I will now. I was talking about Mark and Jay and their talk with the girls at the beginming of the show to take out Roger. Roger? I was falbbergasted by both brothers but especially Mark. I know it's a game. I know they were doing it b/c he's a threat. But none of that matters in this circumstance to me. These guys have been a team, more than a team. They've pushed through some serious crap. I saw them as "brothers". As does Roger I would think. Roger does not deserve it in my eyes. What a personal letdown. More than the BL. Personal. And to me it's very very ugly. Trent, Roger's teammate, sacrificed himself for that team of six. Yes, Mark thinks he did too. But when you have to be guilted into doing what you said you would ie "I will the next time it's needed", something like that said by Mark and then he has to be reminded. Well, not the same kind of man. Unless I'm missing something here I'm disgusted that the brothers, Mark the most, would sell Roger down the river at this point. Yuck.

And despite all this I felt bad for Mark when he's expressing emotion and his wife says, "boy, you're a mess. " Get your yourself together or suck it up or whatever she said. I thought wow men can't win, eh? Geez. They don't emote and they get it. And now they emote and they get it. I know. I know. A lot of male crying. It might seem excessive at times. However, I can see how being away from their family for so long (which makes me feel so much for soldiers and their families) with physically and mentally overhauling your complete being in such a short time period could bring up a lot of emotion (they say that's why a lot of GB people start taking on a vice/addiction - sex, drinking etc. They can't get used to the new them so quickly or food was an addiction so they just trade).

You're another complete person in such a short time on the BL. And just not having that extra layer of protection there - fat. And often with men I'm sure it's, the crying, not always about the present I'm sure a lot of stuffed down emotion from the past rears its head.

On a more positive note. Wow. They all look fantastic. It's really something. I can't believe how narrow and small boned the men are. But then again, you can usually tell in the beginning by the legs. When you are 300+ and you have tiny legs well chances are that you are not big boned.

Last season I was blown away by Julie. I was truly shocked that she was that small boned.

Actually I would like to see someone win who never got voted off. I don't know why but I feel that way. I didn't see the show where some came back (I was running around at P and P party at WDW!!!! I told three boys, two teenagers, that they were going down at Buzz Lightyear for the entire week before leaving and then started to sweat my bravado. I killed them:lmao: 102 900 was my score. The closest was 53 400. They screamed rematch. I just gloated. ;) )

So I don't know how that worked that week on the BL. But regardless I feel that way.

Hey could someone fill me in on that week where past contestants came back. Thanks.

lisa, i'm easily confused :) who are you referring too?

and just wanted to report i got dressed and powerwalked :teeth: see this challenge got me going today ::yes::

Oh,

You're not easily confused Molli. It's me. :lmao: I just didn't take out the confusing code when I figured out how to white out. I should have. I was talking about the brothers with my "surprise". Really talking about one of them in the end.

I'll PM you the person I feel sadness for. You might have meant that person in your question. In case I'm ruining it for someone.

Lisa

Okay...I don't know if I would ever use it....but how do you white stuff out. That is very cool - I have been dying to talk about every episode but didn't want to ruin it for anyone who hadn't seen it.

To 'white out' your comments before you start typing the comments you want in white chose the color to use by clicking on the A then a box of colors will pop up underneath the A. White is the furthest color on the bottom right. If you do use this make sure to make a note about it typed in black first or no one will know to look for your whited out remarks.

Here's my thoughts

WISH Biggest Loser 4 participants are all SUPERSTARS!!!

Have a healthy day!

When you post a reply, in the reply screen there is an "A" next to sizes and the smiley face. If you click on it you have all sorts of color choices including white.

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: Oh Brenda, you're too funny. I'm sitting here thinking okay okay I know I'm extremely wordy but really Brenda doesn't have much to say about the BL show. Hmmmm :rotfl:

Hi everyone. I am doing pretty good this week... why you may ask? Because I don't have a car so I can't drive to McDonalds!:lmao: :thumbsup2

My car's engine started smoking and we took it in on Tues. We got it back yesterday, and by the time we got it home it was smoking again!:sad2: Drove right back there and of course they found something else. This morning they report that yet again something else is wrong:eek: so now I won't get my car back 'till tomorrow p.m. I hate car repairs. But I guess it is keeping my away from fastfood!;)

Oh so sorry to hear about your car! Yes I totally agree, really hate care repairs. They rank right up there with how dependent we are on computers and then they crash. Hang in there and do not feel you have to make up for lost Mickey D's time when the car is fixed :lmao:

Have a great weekend, you are doing a family activity, right?

This is not to you Foxfiregirl. Just going from your post. By the way I had a friend who watched that film over and over and was mesmerized by Angelina Jolie.

For sure with those foods Foxfire, for sure. But no I don't think Nilcoe meant that because of watching BL and what it sees as best. And when I talk about certain foods. Some of the foods I'm talking about are whole foods where "dieters" won't eat b/c they have oil or butter or too many carbs or calories whatever the thing is. Like a lovely gourmet meal. I just ate some Indian butter chicken tonight. Even that kind of food. I know its loaded with fat but I didn't eat enough to make a blip on that radar. I'm personally just so flippin' tired of food this and food that. It's food. Where is the enjoyment?(without overindulging I mean). Look at Dona's homemade with love ravioli. How many people dieters or white knuckled thin people wouldn't touch them. And I'm sure they are delicious. Can you fed ex me some Dona?

Or look at the BL. They go home for a week. Blond boy, sorry it's late, has two glasses of wine and Bob and Jillian freak out. Blond boy, good for him, held his own and said, "I'm going to have wine in my life". I know it's a competition but really. And tonight Bob says for them to order fish and vegetables. Why can't they have a small amount of a dish that they love? Unless they love fish and vegetables...which i do. Oh Rainbow Trout. Probaby too much fat in that fish for Bob. That's what I appreciated about the other trainer. She wanted her team to get used to real life at times.

I lived in Japan for a year. White rice everywhere. At breakfast, lunch, dinner. Always. Many cultures white rice. Yes, they eat so many great foods. And exercise in different ways. Daily built in walking/biking. But we here, well white rice and that awful potato....such bad bad boys. ;) I'm just sick of it all. It's late. Shouldn't be typing. Should be sleeping. :surfweb:

There are always going to be people who cut out a lot and have lifetime success. Susy, from another BL, seemed obsessed with eating a certain way. Barbara Walters talks about her skinny friends who merely move food around and pretend to eat. And that's their life and none of my concern. But don't push it like it's the only way to lose weight and keep it off. It's not.

Well since I'm on a roll I'm going to hash out some feelings I've had about the WISHboards. I love it here. I love the support. But honestly there are threads and posts, thankfully not here, that to me are pretty darn close to eating disorders. If not eating disorders well very obsessive behaviours. Extremely. I find it very sad at times.

If someone wants to eat absolutely clean and "healthy" nearly 100% of the time. Lovely. Good for them. Good choice for health of course. Everyone's choice. Geez, I'm not an unhealthy eater at all - in general terms. I just used to eat too much. But it POs me when people start to say and write that it's the only way to lose weight. Like you have to give up so much. It's not. And a lot of us are proving that. Maybe at a slower rate. But still.

Glad to know someone else watched and Loved that movie too  I have used that name for a long time since and not many people get the reference.

I do agree with what you were saying about the "dieter's" code of good and bad eating. I believe that this is about changing our lifestyles and getting accustomed to how we have to eat for the rest of our lives, not just for a few months while we white knuckle through it. I want to live a more healthy life including more exercise and more whole foods. BUT I'm still going to have bad for me, unhealthy foods sometimes and that is ok.

I like your comments about the wine and I have a perfect example... Me. I really like my wine and sometimes get a bit carried away. I'm always going to drink some wine (except when pregnant etc.) but I keep telling myself that while I'm losing weight I have to cut it way back or out because of all the calories. Well, last week I think I drank 5 out of 7 days. But, I worked to balance it with my food intake and exercise. AND I lost 1.4 pounds this week! :cool1: Granted I had to work harder for that loss than if I hadn't chose to drink, but it all worked out in the end. That's life.

You know what kind of gets me and is just a personal peeve... the new 100 calorie packs everywhere. On the one hand they are great because they allow you to have something you may be craving, without going overboard. But on the other hand they are still junk and not good to have on a regular basis. Why not just say I'm gonna have a few Oreo's today, but none for the rest of the week? or something similar. Oreo's are my favorite cookie and I'd much rather have that trade off than the packs of semi-oreos daily. :confused3 I feel like most of the "bad" foods and "cheat" foods should be more of a luxury occasional thing than an everyday, anytime thing. That doesn't mean that we won't have some weeks that are everyday cheat days :rolleyes1 but those hopefully are somewhat rare.

Ultimately though it is all about balance and however YOU can find balance that works in YOUR life. I know that a lot of people probably would read my last paragraph and say give me the 100 calorie packs everyday and quit your drinking you wino! :rotfl: To each their own :hippie:

Oh, yeah. :cheer2: :cheer2: To all the losers, maintainers, and gainers this week :cheer2: :cheer2: I'm proud of us all for sticking with it!! :cheer2: and I'm excited to be on the list again :thumbsup2

Ok, that is enough for me for tonight. Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!!

the packs of semi-oreos

Love it! :lmao: Oh boy did that make me laugh. What a great name Foxfire.

Last night my roommate was making brownies. So she's an athlete and never a weight issue. So she looks at the recipe she tore out of a magazine and sees Splenda and other low this or that/substitutes and says, "what the heck? What?:confused3 Forget that. Butter's going in. Full chocolate is going in. And sugar is going in". I smiled because it's so opposite to what we are barraged with. Nothing wrong with healthier, though I'm unsure about sugar substitutes, brownies. But she was having none of it. Not for a minute.

Ultimately though it is all about balance and however YOU can find balance that works in YOUR life.

Yep! I'm never saying my way is king. Just what I want. But it POs me when the white knucklers and/or only healthy foodies put out that that is the only way.

quit your drinking you wino! :rotfl:
:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: You're too funny.

Oh so envious. So envious. I have Rosacea. So wine is a big problem. I so miss it.

Sorry Vija. Frustrating.

But like you said you never know what something frustrating is taking you from or away from - even something as awful as an accident. I had a car absolutely die for the last time on my birthday one year (those little Chevettes....so loyal). Anyway, my father goes to pick me up and his car dies. :lmao: Not funny but how is it possible. And a third car had to come.

Anyways, rambling. Point is. Looking for a new car to replace little Chevette at a downtown used car lot brought me to a condo sale centre that I would have never went into - thought too much money. And only went in to keep my mother from haggling at the car lot. It wasn't too much. Up and coming area..you know where no one would live or touch in the beginning and now is the spot! That was 1998. Still live in the neighbourhood and made lots on that first one.

Hope things go okay Vija. Regardless of all my thoughts I know how frustrating it is.

Hey, how is tae kwon do. It is that right, the class? Forgive me for possibly killing the spelling.
