Biden's Wife was NOT killed by a drunk driver.

Apparently you can say whatever you want about a dead person. There isn't a law against that. He is slandering a man who is not here to defend himself. I would say it is also a personal tragedy for the trucker's family.

The trucker did not die in the accident. He had many years to defend his actions. You do not know the details, you are only repeating old news reports. I can't understand why you chose this tragedy in a poor attempt at a political attack. If you can't apologize for bringing this up, then at least have the dignity to let it go. Real people died and suffered.

Please reread FinallyBoughtDVCs words:
Geez louise - this was 1972 for crying out loud. I was eight years old and we didn't even wear seatbelts then! It was a different time and alcohol and driving were not looked at as they are now. Blood alcohol, DUI, breathalyzers - in 1972!?

This has got to be the stupidest thread I've opened yet on the Dis regarding this election. And, is someone seriously using Inside Edition as a news source? Now I've seen everything. LOL

Slander - please. This is assinine.

You are referring to a newspaper article that could be biased. You do not the motive behind the reporter. The real question here is that no one has been able to produce the actual legal documents pertaining to this case and none of you were involved in this tragedy. This is a tragic situation and I don't think it should be used to smear Sen Biden and his late wife and child.

Who the heck is "smearing" the late Mrs. Biden and her child? That's a bit of a hyperdramatic leap, don't you think?

I have no idea what the blood alcohol level was because it is irrelevant. He was not charged. He was not convicted. He is not guilty, so he shouldn't be slandered.

Driving while intoxicated was treated differently then. Now, they would use a breatholyzer immediatly and draw a blood alcohol asap if there were any questions. It wasn't until the late 70's or early 80's that DUI was taken seriously. And currently there is a big push for folks to uderstand that even one drink (buzzed driving) is extremely dangerous as well.

What has been posted (which appears to be just as verifiable as the rest of the information) is that at some point Biden was called and told this information. Frankly unless it was made it into a court case, he may have taken this info for granted. It is hard to say.

It sounds like he has mentioned this a few times (correct me if I am wrong) but it is the media and bloggers who really are repeating this info ad nauseum.

Since there are clearly viable innocent reasons he says this...and in the whole scheme of the serious issues this country faces, I give this a big fat zero.

A motor vehicle accident that resulted in deaths would definitely have been taken seriously in 1972, particularly if alcohol was involved. If he really believed at the time that alcohol was involved and there was evidence to that effect, I don't think he would have ignored that. Most victims families would have pressed the prosecutor to file charges, even back in the "dark ages" of the 70's.

Everything that you have just posted is just your own opinion and does nothing to further understanding toward those involved. You weren't there and maybe you do not have capacity to understand the suffering of all involved. If you did, you would stop bringing up these ridiculous charges.

Fact: The driver wasn't charged.
Fact: The driver wasn't convicted.
Fact: Biden just recently said that the driver 'drank his lunch'.

Another example of a Obama Supporter willing to kill the messenger & not the message.:sad2: If Walter Cronkite came out of retirement to report this story, your response would be the same.

Usually the "messenger" referred to in your cliche doesn't get to choose which message he carries. Malkin does, and I know enough about her to know that I'm not going to waste my time reading on because I know the kind of crap she spews.

I don't know if you're lumping Cronkite in with Malkin, but if you are it's lunacy. Cronkite had a right wing bent, but I respect his journalism and opinion. If he had reported the same story, I certainly would have read it.

What's wrong with you? Do you have any idea what you sound like?

And you know for a fact, that Biden wasn't told that is what happened.

I don't see how that is relevant. There were no charges filed. If alcohol was a factor in the accident, he would have been charged.

Obama-Biden: Sliming families from coast to coast! Now that's some change you can believe in! :thumbsup2

Frankly, I wouldn't want to be slandered, nor any of my family members slandered posthumously. Biden is the one that needs to apologize.

You are right. Shame on him, losing his wife and baby daughter, having to nurse his young sons back to health.

Really? Because how long ago was this accident? Fortunately, times and the way things are investigated have changed. Six years after this accident my family was hit by a drunk driver on the way to the Philly airport. He got a ticket, but no where near what would've happened to him today happened back then.

I have been in two MAJOR accidents caused in part or in whole by cell phone usage. One of the accidents caused me injury that kept me out of work for 3 months and on modified duty for 2 months. No where on either accident did it mention the cell phone. Does that mean a person distracted with a cell phone did not almost kill me and my son? Now flash foward, it is such a hot button issue that it would be plastere clearly on the report.

Sorry, but without immediated breatholyzer (did it exist in 1972?) or immediate blood alcohol level.....who would know? Nobody cared that much in 1972. In 1972, falling down drunk would get a DUI. But we reasonably know now, youcan be under the influence with one or two, depending on your age, size, healt, current medications, fatigue.

But go ahead make this your hot button issue. I will be more concerned with veterans benefits, the economy, the war on terror, the enviroment, and renewable energy, and the sorry state of health care in America.

You are the one who brought this up. You started the post. This has nothing to do with the current campaign. The woman is dead and can't defend herself against your attacks. You must be proud that you were able to deliver such a clever attack on a dead woman. Your post is still an all time low.

I think is the point of the thread! That Biden has said numerous times that the person driving the vehicle that killed his wife was drunk. He wasn't and now he is dead and can't defend himself.

Pot, meet kettle. I guess, using your logic, that Biden has also stooped to an all-time low.

Since when did you become the truck drivers advocate? You have no idea what went on in 1972 on that rural road, yet you throw your judgement on Biden all over the place. Quite frankly, most people wouldn't be able to handle what he has gone through in hs personal life, and yet you find a way to make him the bad guy.

What an ugly and inappropriate thread you started. We share the same first name, and I may change mine now.

How many times has he said it in public? I wonder if you have him saying it once or twice and having it repeated one million times on the internet. I do not know, do you?
