I'm taking my 5 year old granddaughter to Disneyland in August. She lives all of the princesses, especially Cinderella. Wondering if it's worth the $49 and how long of an experience it is. Anyone That has done this for their little care to share?

I think this thread is for WDW, but I would imagine a lot applies to the DL location. The base package is supposed to be around 20 minutes.

My DD will be 3 this year and we're still debating ourselves. To save money, a lot of folks bring their own dress and supposedly you can ask them to set up the dressing room so your DD can still get the full experience. I've read that you can get the photo session done and added to your Photopass Plus card too! So it might last a little longer if you do the photo session too. I think they give priority on the photo session to the folks doing the top tier package though.

We have been a total of five times with my girls starting at 3 for both. It's their favorite experience and IMO worth every penny. My girls truly believe a fgit turned them into a real princess.

You'll get a lot of different opinions but for my dds, it was/is a dream come true.

I took my daughter to BBB during her first visit when she was 3 1/2. Id say it was about 30-45min. my daughter loved it! money well spent IMO

The dresses available at DLR are better quality than the ones at the Disney Store.
If you want to give the experience and make it affordable, best to buy a dress and bring it with you. Take advantage of the photo session if time permits. If you do it all, it is about an hour. My DD has really long
Hair though, so it may have take us longer than usual.

She has a Cinderella dress. We were going to pack it anyway. We'll definately take it to BBB.

I think she'll love it. I took DD last November (she was 3) and she is still talking about it.
I agree that the pics were priceless. After the 'transformation' they have a room in the back with props including a carriage. DD was thrilled to be able to sit in that carriage and have her picture taken. We had a hard time getting her out of it!

I'd be wary if they have a sensitive head. They pull the hair style VERY tight (I know some kids have had hair breakage its been so tight).

Huh. Didn't know this. DD just had her hair braided and pinned up. We opted for the Rapunzel wig.

The tight princess bun is extremely tight (I know kids that have had it last through sleeping without moving!). If they have thinner hair, it could break when removing the hairdo, or very uncomfortable if they have a sensitive head.

OP.. I still say go for it. We are looking forward to returning.
Perhaps do some research about the hairstyles and judge what's best for your granddaughter, based on 3Minnies1Mickey's info.

Well, I wish I could say our experience was magical...but it so was not! My daughter completely freaked out when we took her to BBB in WDW. I was devastated to say the least. We had both been looking forward to it, and she was so excited until we got there. We took her in the dressing room to change her into the dress (that we brought) and she broke completely down. It was a nightmare! The staff felt so bad for us, that they ended up rescheduling us for later in the morning before our Cinderella lunch (even though they were completely booked) just so we could try again. Still the same the 2nd time around.

So, I ended up spending (roughly) $20 or so on special hair ribbons and such (from the parks) and went to Claire's when we were out in town and picked up some of that spray glitter for her hair. Each day I would put in the pretty ribbons, spray her hair, and put on a pretty "little girl" lipstick. She was completely happy with this and has never asked to go back and try BBB. We go to the parks often, so I keep her WDW hair stuff put away so it will be special when we go. She loves it!

I wish she had done the BBB, but I thought I would throw this out there as an alternative in case there is anyone else out there who runs into the same problem with their DD

My 11 year old girls did this last week. I was surprised that they asked since they are such tomboys about things. We had the $55 package that includes nail polish. I think the first 45 minutes in the chair was fun, but for some reason, one girl took an extra 10 minutes and she was wilting. They were both happy when all was finished, but that one could only stand the tight hair style and bobby pins (bobbity pins?) for 2 hours. I didn't blame her one bit. It looked really uncomfortable. I wouldn't have made it that long.

They do come home with a brush, a comb, the make-up, a sinch-sack, a sash, the hair piece and some type of rhinestone clip or bobby pins.

The boutique was totally packed. It was chaotic and rushed, and felt more like an assembly line than something special.

I scheduled my 4 yr old for her bday present. I brought her belle dress from home and we had an appt at 8 am so we could then go see the princesses. She wouldn't do it. Completely refused. I tried bribery and all. She put her dress on but then no way.
She is stubborn like that and later I figured I was happy enough to save the $50 since her brothers both got make your own double light sabers at $25 a pop. ha ha.
But kind of sad about it again after reading the posts. Oh well, it was fine but I thought she would be so in to it. She is big on the princess thing. I am glad I had decided to do Ariel's Grotto, which we had done the day before just the two of us.

I have absolutely no idea! She was 4 at the time, and everything seemed fine until we went into the dressing room. She just started screaming and crying that she didn't want to do it. I tried to explain that I was just going to put her own dress on her, and the nice lady was going to make her hair all sparkly and paint her nails (which, by the way, she loves her nails painted). We explained that we would be right beside her the whole time while they turned her into a princess, but she still kept crying, backing away from us, and cowering in the corner of the dressing room. It was really freaky!

Later that day (it took her quite a while to calm down) I kept asking what the problem was and all she told me was that she didn't want to...and I couldn't get anything else out of her .

Anyway, she has no problem with me "sparkling" her up...but every time we make a trip back to the parks I ask about BBB and she just tells me she doesn't want to do it

On the other hand, my DS (6 at the time) did the Pirates League that same day and had a blast! For some reason they were really slow that afternoon we went, and we were there for hours. He has some speech issues, and at some point he started talking to the girl that was working on him about "elastricity" (electricity) and how it worked. He had all the cast members in hysterics and they all sat in a circle around him on the floor as he was explaining where it came from. Of course, they pretended not to know to stay in character of being Pirates, which made it even better! This, luckily, totally made up for the BBB fiasco and, needless to say, will be a trip I never forget

What a sweet story! I love it. and that's awesome they pretended not to know.
