Bibbidi-Bobbidi-BOO and a few Disney Dresses too!~ A Sept ’13 TR

Great updates!!
We were also in the MK on this day during this time. I checked but didn't see us in any of your pictures. It did rain on and off that morning, but was nice after lunch.

Love the Mickey meet. The pictures are so precious! What an awesome experience to have on your first day! Those outfits were perfect for that meet! I had also heard that talking Mickey "might" be testing during this time. I went in around 4pm on this day and asked if Mickey was talking and was told no, so it sounds like you went at a good time. We did get to meet him later in the trip and it was so awesome.

What a fun first day at MK!

I can't believe they have a talking Mickey now, that must have been great! I really want to meet him my next trip!

Peter Pan is such a great first ride of the trip! So much fun!

Your kids are adorable and all of their custom outfits are just too cute!

Following along! Enjoying your trip report. Looking forward to the next installment :)

Yay for the Poly!! I honestly just jumped on the wdw website to see how much it would be to upgrade to the Poly haha, I want to stay there again!! The room pictures are gorgeous!! Glad you were liking the Poly so far! I’m pretty sure I was in Tahiti when I stayed there and I LOVED the closeness to the TTC from my room, I was the very last room too so I was extra close! That walk saved me so much!!

YOU GUYS GOT THE TALKING MICKEY?!?! AS IFF!!!!! I’ve heard that he IS the one in TST from now on and I’m super pumped for my next trip, I may cry lol! Also, the Mickeys that can talk, and have the ability to do a closed mouth smile, SO FREAKING ADORABLE! He looks so much cuter with that smile, that’s awesome! Oh my gosh that last picture of Mickey and your DD is so adorable! It should definitely be in an ad!!

Looks like an awesome day at Mk so far, I do really like that they’re accommodating with fast pass plus stuff through emails although we didn’t get the email quite in time, but that’s okay! Great updates! You guys got a lot done, excited to read more!!

It's fun to think that maybe we crossed paths at some point that day!

Oh wow, so talking Mickey wasn't even out the whole day?! We really did luck out then! I'm glad that you guys got to see him later in the trip! Such a cool experience.

I know!! It really is amazing what they come up! A friend of mine just posted a video of her daughter meeting talking Mickey today! So there's a great chance that you'll get to meet him. 2 weeks until your trip!! That's so exciting!!!:cool1:

Oh my gosh, you can really see the wonder in Isla's face meeting Mickey! How neat!

Seeing her face light up like that was definitely one of the best parts of the trip!!

Following along! Enjoying your trip report. Looking forward to the next installment :)

Yay! Thanks for following along! :cool2:

LOVED the Poly!! And being so close to the TTC was definitely a bonus!! It was SO convenient! I would love to go back!!

I KNOW!! Talking Mickey, I couldn't believe it! I kept saying to my mom and hubby "It's the talking Mickey, OMG, it's the talking Mickey!" They were like "Yeah, So?" haha It looks like he IS meeting at TST! but in a different outfit... not sure if I like it or not though.

Unfortunately, we received a bunch of those emails! Which meant the rides were down during our FP+ times.... urg!! It was nice that they gave the option of riding other rides instead.

Yay, it was almost time for our very first ADR of the trip!!! And it was actually the very first ADR that I made!

(I was up bright and early, ready to make all of my dining reservations right at 6am on my 180 days out. Well the online system was having a glitch (yes, I know you're surprised at that!) and the 180 + 10 (days) was not working and I was only able to make reservations for the first day of my trip.)

So what was the reservation for?

The HOOP-DEE-DOO Musical Revue at Disney's Fort Wilderness!!! Yeehaw!!

I was very excited for this ADR! I had read such great reviews of it! Music, dancing, & corny jokes... it seemed right up our alley!!!

So the kids were all dressed in their western sets and we were ready to go...

I checked the time and WHAT?! 3:30... how could it be 3:30 already?! The show started at 4! Ahhh!! So we rushed back over to the TTC.

Now... how to get to Fort Wilderness? A bus? We headed over to the bus area and asked a CM if there were buses to FW. She said No -but that there really should be because so many people ask about it! She told us to take either the monorail or the Ferryboat over to the MK and then we would need to take another boat over to FW. Oh My!! I was so not used to Disney Transportation! The CM said that our best bet would probably be to take the Ferryboat over. Well we had to wait for both boats, so we were finally pulling into Fort Wilderness at 4:30. I didn't think that we were ever going to get there!

Happy to finally be on a boat and on our way!

The whole time I was FREAKING out that we were going to miss the dinner show. I suggested to Joe that we contact Disney dining and see if we could change our reservation to the next show @ 6pm. As Joe was on the phone, we all made our way over to Pioneer Hall. A CM (maybe the manager?) was outside and asked us if we had reservations, actually he even knew our name... wow we were famous! No we were probably the only family that wasn't there yet! We asked about changing our reservation. He said that the 6pm show was full and to not worry... the performers had just started and we hadn't missed a thing!

By now, both Bronwyn and Isla were asleep in the double stroller. I asked about bringing it in but we were told that we had to park it outside. Bronwyn woke up fine... but Isla, not so much. She was a major grump!

We were led inside and to our table. Our table was right smack in the center of the main floor! So of course we had to disturb everyone while we were seated. I felt terrible!! And to make matters worse... Isla was crying. I sat her in the seat right next to me but she would not stop crying. (Thank goodness it was loud in there so I don't think anyone else noticed) All she wanted to do was go back to sleep! I felt so bad for her. I tried to get her to eat something but she wouldn't. I finally just had her sit on my lap and she quieted down... but she still wouldn't eat a thing. The other kids, on the other hand, were chowing down. The food looked really good! So what was on the menu?

All-you-can-eat... served family style:
Crispy Fried Chicken, BBQ Pork Ribs, Mashed Potatoes, Cowboy Beans and a green salad & cornbread! It was all SO Yummy!!

Bronwyn was loving those mashed potatoes.
I loved the pewter pails and the mason jar glasses! The old-fashioned country-western theme was so much fun!

Oh and then the best part... for dessert there was STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE!! Oh how I want some right now! Yum!

Now I'm not a beer, wine or sangria fan but those were also included with the meal, which is really nice! I know that Joe enjoyed a Yuengling with his dinner. :drinking1

The show uses 2 credits off of the dining plan, but in my opinion, it is definitely worth it. And definitely something we will do again!

The food was great! Our service was great! And the show was fantastic!!

Those performers were so good at what they do ~ you can definitely tell that they love their job! The silliness of it all made everyone smile (even Isla came around and was enjoying it!) My kids were actually laughing out loud!

The show really is perfect for all ages. I had thought that maybe Bronwyn would be too young, but she joined in on the napkin waving and playing the washboards right along with everyone else. The show kept her attention and by the end, she was up dancing in the aisle! We really had such a fun time! What a perfect way to end our first Disney day!!

As we were leaving, I noticed that there were groups of people for the 6pm show having their Photopass pictures taken. Since we were so late, we had missed it for our show, :sad1: ...but maybe they would still take our photo. We hopped in line, explained to them that we had been late for the last show and they said that it was no problem!-and that they would absolutely take our pics! Oh I was SO happy!!! :) And the lady even looked into having them printed out for us which was so nice of her! After a short wait, she came back and asked for my name & hotel info and also my home address. She said that they would have them sent to our room at the Poly. Well they never did show up at our room but I didn't care, I was just happy to have them on our PP+ card. ***About a month after we were home from our trip, guess what came in the mail... Yup! The photo package!!! How awesome is that! Disney rocks!!

We then headed back to the dock so that we could take the ferry back to the MK. We still had those FP+s to use, so we asked Donovan if we should go ride BTMR ...but he said No. He looked so tired. It had been a long, busy day! We had done SO much!! (and gotten up SO early!!)

The plan had been for my mom to take Donovan back with her for the night so that she wouldn't be alone in her hotel. So I gave her Donovan's overnight bag and we parted ways. They headed for the bus stop and we got onto the resort monorail. It stopped at the TTC but we decided to stay on until the stop at the Poly. We discovered that it let us off at the second floor of the GCH. With Kona café and Ohana being right there, it was very crowded and hard to get our double stroller over to the elevator. We decided that it would be easier to get off at the TTC from then on. We did check out the volcano pool on our way back to our longhouse. We could not wait to try it out!

Once back in our room, we all put on our PJs and the girls fell asleep pretty quickly.... well except for Isla. She was well past her point of exhaustion. She was SO tired but she would not lay down to go to sleep. She is definitely a handful when she is tired! She started crying and saying "I want to go home!" over and over and over. Not what you want your kid to be saying when you're at Disney! ...Finally she fell asleep.

Before I went to bed, I wanted to get our room & the closet organized. I unpacked everything and grouped our clothes in order of when we would be wearing them. Then I uploaded the days photos to my laptop. It was about 10:30 when I finally crawled into bed. And oh were those Poly beds comfy!! :cloud9:

What a wonderful day it had been!! A day of many FIRSTs for my kids!

Up Next: My princesses meet some Princesses!!

Did you do the MK and Hoop Dee Doo on the 25th? If so, we spent the day at MK and then went to the 4:00 show too. LOL

So now I am looking through my pictures and if your mom was wearing a black and white floral pattern tank that night, you might have ended up in one of my pictures. We were in category 2. Seems like I remember noticing an empty table.

We ended up taking the wagon ride around the campground after dinner before heading back to the MK.

Oh wait, never mind...just looked at your pictures and it was your mother in my photo. :rotfl2: Let me see if I can attach it. I actually have a picture of your table when it was empty and then when you were at it. Not great pictures though. We must have been a few tables behind you. Too bad we didn't get to run into you then! :goodvibes

Here is the empty table

And then once your family was there

Here is my youngest from that night

Great review of Hoop Dee Doo. We are looking forward to eating there on our first night. Unfortunately we have to wait until February!

Aww I'm so glad you guys made it to the HDDR! Its a family favorite of ours as well! And we are now 3 adults haha.

Those western outfits are just too cute, with the matching boots, they look so precious!

I missed a couple of updates this week, so I'm getting myself all caught up!

How fun that you were able to see talking Mickey while he was in testing!! How's that for an awesome first experience on a Disney vacation? Too bad Bronwyn slept through it, but I'm pretty sure my idea of heaven would be falling asleep somewhere and waking up on Peter Pan's Flight. :cloud9:

That's pretty cool that you can use your FP+ reservation for something else if the ride you have one for goes down and never comes back up. Or if you are only going to be in the park a little while longer so you don't have time to wait for that ride to come back online. I didn't realize they would do that!

The girls' outfits for Hoop de Doo are ADORABLE!!! I'm glad you made it into the show. It's so hard sometimes to take into account how much time you need to allow to get from place to place when using Disney transportation. And especially when you have little ones in tow! It looks like the kids really enjoyed the show! I have been trying to convince DH that Paxton would probably have a great time, but he hasn't really wanted to give it a try. I thought after Paxton enjoyed himself so much at Dixie Stampede this spring that he might be more open to doing HDD for this past trip, but no dice! Maybe next time... And that's great that they let you take your PP pics, because they came out so cute!!

You are making me reconsider the Luau. I am booking that instead of Hoop Dee. But you made Hoop Dee look so much fun, I am now conflicted. DD will just have turned 6 when we go.

Oh my word, YES that was our table and that's my mom in your pic!! What a small world!

Our table was category 2 too but it was perfect! There was no need to upgrade to the category 1 tables. At one point all of the performers came out and were holding hands and dancing in a circle right around our table. It was so cool!

Your daughter looked adorable in her outfit! Oh how I wish that we would have run it to each other that day! How was the wagon ride after dinner? Maybe that's something we'll plan for next trip.

Oh you are going to love it!! And with the holidays being right around the corner, February will be here before you know it!

I think we may have to make it a "first night in Disney" tradition. :thumbsup2

Thanks!! DH was giving me a hard time about having to pack those cowboy boots in our suitcase. I insisted that the outfits absolutely "needed" the cowboy boots... haha :rotfl2:

following!!

Welcome, glad to have you here!:dance3:

I know, that really is a nice feature of the FP+! I hope that they continue with it after the full Magic Band roll out... we didn't have time to use it that day for our BTMR FP+ but we definitely took advantage of it later in the trip. Sometimes I would know that a ride was down even before we walked over to it because of the email!

Oh I hope that you can convince your DH to try the HDDMR for your next trip! I think you guys would really enjoy it, especially Paxton!

You are making me reconsider the Luau. I am booking that instead of Hoop Dee. But you made Hoop Dee look so much fun, I am now conflicted. DD will just have turned 6 when we go.

The Hoop Dee Doo WAS so much fun! It was too funny to see my kids cracking up at the silly jokes. But we didn't do the Luau so it's hard for me to compare the two. I'm sure you'll have fun with whichever one you choose. ;)

Well, we didn't get BOG on the night we wanted. I put Tony's Town Square on that night instead and BOG on the night we were doing Tony's. However, now I'm considering just canceling Tony's and doing the later night Hoop Dee dinner based on your pics review. So maybe I can have my hawaiian pork and eat my bbq chicken too?

I'm so sorry to be so late!

All caught up now though! Your kids are positively gorgeous. You must be one proud momma :goodvibes

Love the outfits so far, and can't wait to see them all!

Incredibly jealous of your Poly stay! It's definitely #1 on my wish list.

Your fun at the HDDR made me even more excited to go in the spring! What a great first night!

The wagon ride was very nice. She just happened to be pulling up right after we came out of HDD so we thought why not? My parents have a new camper and with my mom having just retired and my dad retiring next month, I think they wanted to check things out. We hadn't stayed there since my first trip at age 3.

I think it was only about $8-10 per person and it was just the 5 of us and then one other couple. The driver took us on a nice, long ride and parked us right near the lake for a nice picture with the MK off in the background.

I bet it would be especially nice at Halloween or Christmas time when many of the sites are decorated.

Hi Rachel!!!! Well I just had to pop in since we're FB buddies and all, lol.

Since I'm a little behind, I'll just pick some highlights to comment on.

First, I have to comment on the reveal, most notably the “Who’s coming over?”. OMG that cracked me up.

I don't even have the words for your kids first Mickey visit and it's TALKING MICKEY!!! So precious and awesome! I know I'm going to freak out if/when I meet him for the fist time.

I could go on and on, so I'll just add that I really love all the enthusiasm, your kids are just too cute, and I'm so looking forward to following along. :goodvibes

I need to seek out the talking Mickey!!! How neat! :goodvibes

Also, the HDDR is one of the reservations we are going to make for next years trip. We have been trying to fit it in forever, but we are making it a priority this time. Looks fun!

Aww, thank you!! And :welcome: I'm so happy that you're here!!

You guys are going to love the Hoop Dee Doo!! Oooh and now I know one of your picks for your next ADR guessing game! :cool1:

Sounds like the perfect thing to do after the HDD! I'll definitely have to remember it for next trip :teeth:

You can never have too many Disney FB friends, right? The more Disney pics that pop up in your news feed the better!! And it will be YOUR Disney pics that are popping up pretty darn soon!!! 1 week!!! Yay, you'll be there so soon!!! I'm so excited for you... and a tad bit jealous. Hopefully you'll get to meet Talking Mickey and freak out just a little!

Welcome! I'm glad to have you following along.
