Beware of Disney Driver

For legal reasons, I doubt you will find out what they did with the driver. If you want to pursue it futher, you'll probably need to file suit.
Honestly, I think Disney has their rear-end covered because of the DO NOT ENTER signs. I don't see this being a winning situation for the OP in a law suit.

I wasn't suggesting they file suit, I was just saying if they wanted to confirm that the driver was punished, that might be the only way, through suit discovery. Otherwise, Disney will not release the information.

i suggest that prior to writing a letter you do a follow up phone call to whomever took the incident report on this situation. advise them that you are following up to ensure that the situation you are concerned with is being addressed in order to prevent it's reoccurance. take any information you recieve from this person and include it in a letter to wdw's risk managment division and c.c. it to wdw personnel divsion as well.

it is unlikely you will ever learn of any disciplinary action taken (if any was taken), however, you will accomplish two things: a written record for personnel (in the event the driver was at fault or other's were at fault for not following safety policy), and an alert to those whose primary job responsibility is to identify and prevent dangerous work behaviours/errors/trends.

p.s. as an aside-my daughter recieved a minor injury several years ago at disneyland (more scared her than anything) but it did upset us (it was due to an employee not fully following safety procedures). when we brought it disney's management's attention (through a follow up call upon return home) we found them to be very responsive. additionaly they sent us multi day passes for our next trip.

Is your child ok? If so, let it go. The driver was not mowing people down in the parking lot, he was just doing his normal job and may not have seen your child. While initially, it would be very scary and annoying, pursuing this to have the driver punished or to somehow get some sort of compensation is not worth it.

JimFitz,
ARen't you the same poster who just posted the extremely rude comment on the other "Beware of Disney Driver" thread? You sound so nice here...... what's up with that?

A little bipolar thing going on, maybe?

It irks me to see people trying to get something for free. I think the OP is out to get some sort of comp for a mistake.

That would be me to whom you are referring. And NO I am not trying to get any kind of "comp" out of this. I just want Disney to be aware of the situation so that they don't make it a practice of hiring negligent or insensitive people that work so closely with the general public, more importantly children. Don't assume to know my motive in this...

JND,

I see you only have posted 50 or so times. I'm assuming you are a newcomer to the DIS, and hope that all the negativity here doesn't scare you away! There are some very nice people on this board; I like the Trip Reports board the best.

At any rate, welcome to the DIS!

Thanks for the kind response, no I am not scared away by certain responses. I have encountered many very nice people on this board. You as well as many others who have responded with concern, speak volumes for the type of people on this site. That is one of the many reasons I really do enjoy reading the threads. :wave2:

OP: I'm glad your daughter is okay. How frightening for her and you!
BTW, I've seen some bus drivers get downright nasty about people coming on through the back doors. I know we tourists can be a bother, but there's a right way and a wrong way to respond to our mistakes.

That may be true DisneyDotty - some drivers may be less than tactful when instructing Guests not to enter through the back door, but just maybe it's because they know the possible hazards involved in entering that way. We don't know how many passengers they've told that morning already NOT to enter through the rear door. I'm not excusing rude behavior, but maybe that driver had a passenger whose leg got caught in the door because he didn't expect anyone to be entering through the back.

Sorry that this happened to your dd. But let this be a lesson. You should never enter through the back door. Maybe it's because I live in a big city, but it is widely known here never to enter through the back door. It's not safe. But, the driver should have checked to make sure all was clear before they pulled away.

First - I hope your DD is OK and otherwise had a Magical visit!
Next - What part of the DO NOT ENTER sign couldn't you read? :confused3
IMHO Because you got in the habit of breaking the rules by not entering in the front door, this has to be someone else's fault. Don't get me wrong - sounds like the bus driver is a jerk and would probably be more suited to sweeping up trash after the parking lot empties! But YOU were also at fault for continuously entering the rear doors and setting a poor example for your child and niece for letting them attempt to do it! Follow the rules and posted signs and you won't have regrets like this next time. Seems it's always the people who are half wrong in the first place that have the biggest complaints!
REMEMBER-What you think of me is none of my business, but I say what others are thinking.

What did the CM on the Great Movie Ride lie about?

My dd needs front row seating due to a vision problem. We asked to wait for the next cars, so we could put her in the front seat. The CM insisted over and over that there is nothing going on in front, everything is on the sides. As soon as we sat where he told us, finally, in the last 2 rows of the last car, he closed the door on DHs leg, smirked, and said "Well, except all that" as the "tour guide" started talking in the front seat of the front car. So the whole ride dd kept asking who was talking. She was clueless, I was furious. Her front-row need is not ambiguous, it is directly stated on her GAC and we had explained to the CM WHY she sits front row. We wait extra at nearly every ride, just to put her there.

We had never been on the Great Movie Ride, so we had no reason not to believe the CM. And if I hadn't seen his smirk, I would have assumed he forgot the ride had the whole tour-guide/mobster stuff.

Everybody in the last car has a vision problem the way the Great Movie Ride tour guide talks.

Every time of the many times I rode GMR, the tour guide starts talking about things too soon, when just the people in the first row start to see the things. I wish the tour guide would just wait several seconds before beginning each spiel. At least wait until the center of the train of cars gets into the room inq uestion.

Wow!

Did you even read the op's thread?!

She's NOT trying to get anything for free!! All she want's is an apoligy and an explaination on how this happend and how Disney will prevent it from happening again

It "irks" me to have to listen to people's incensitive comments towards something that can ruin a vacation, or worse, someones LIFE!!

If it is pursued, one of the questions, I believe, to be brought up would be why where they entering the back door. Also from working in a large corporation it will be an uphill fight. One of the reasons is that large corporations have the resource to hire corporate lawyers who are the cream of the crop.

Hope to get an apoligy, but consider yourself lucky if you do. I'm sure legal has advised no comment or we are looking into it and stonewall.

Consider yourself lucky no one was seriously hurt and don't get on thru the back door any more.

Do send the letters to make everyone aware of the incident.

I would be surprised the driver gets fired. Maybe reprimanded. Why? The union will be involved.
