I awoke to my favorite sports radio station talking about the Mets. I couldn't be more excited to be waking up at 4am in the morning. I took a few seconds to realize why I was waking up so early, and then I instantly got into a good mood. I ate, showered, got dressed, made sure I packed everything 5 times, and then waited what seemed like forever for my Grandpa to come over and drop my Grandma off. They were late as usual.
Then we were off. It took no more than a half hour to get to the airport. My grandma got a wheelchair to take her to the terminal, and we went with her. We bypassed the surprisingly long security line (but its Spring Break so...) and went through security very quickly. We then went to the terminal and were the first ones there.
We had an almost 2 hour wait till our flight, so I went and picked up the New York Post and Newsday to read while waiting. It went by very fast. My grandma, with her wheelchair, got to board before the regular tickets were taken, and she was allowed to have one person go with her. I went with her, and we got seats in the front of the plane, while we waited for the rest of the family to come on and board with the "regular people."
We took of on time, about 8 am, and I said goodbye to the hazy Long Island sky. The flight was not good. We were never allowed to take off our seatbelts because of major turbulence. And then we hit the Orlando area. But we couldn't land. We circled MCO for about an hour because it was too dangerous to land. I later found out that the Orlando area was under a tornado warning. It still was actually for the majority of the day. The weather was downright nasty. Some threw up during the flight, and I sure felt like I might soon too. The turbulence was insane. We finally landed, and boarded a shuttle that took us to a rental car place. We got the car, and then headed to the hotel.
Coming up: Day 1: Check In-Not so smooth.
