We tried remove wallpaper that was adhered directly to unprimed drywall. Well, it would not come off without removing the drywall with it. So we ended up glueing down all the seams and putting a drywall compound skim coat over the entire surface. Then two coats of oil based primer and voila, 3 days later, we could paint. The walls look gorgeous but what a pain in the butt!!! I replaced all of the old trim with beautiful new stuff and the kitchen looks like a brand new place.
